  1. I have a bunch of them laying around the house Brian and I want to use this official thread to formally announce that none of them are for sale....especially the one on top of my dresser.

Well, neither are mine. But ya gotta start somewhere, right? I'm sure a lot of GL owners today started out with the die-cast models.

By the way, the new owner of LEE 1, is pro golfer Bubba Watson! How about that? You can read the article on our homepage.

  2. I usually watch all the episodes in order too, as of today I've seen all of em except for two. I got the second season for christmas and episode 8 Hazzard connection and episode 9 Witness for the persecution wont work. I guess ill watch them on youtube or something.

Coy and Vance definitely were watchable once you got used to them, and after Bo and Luke came back, all the way through season 6 and 7 I almost felt like they should show up for an episode. I really liked the episode Brotherly Love (season 6) where Luke's long lost brother shows up, Three duke boys was cool I would have loved too see Bo, Luke, Coy, and Vance in an episode.

I also wanted to say I really like the atmosphere of this forum, I've been on other forum sites, none quite like this. Saying that in a good way. :)

    Thanks, ChargerCNH320! Much appreciated! :D

About Coy n' Vance....when I was a kid I resented 'em for replacing Bo and Luke. Just like I resented the substitute Sheriffs that appeared in a few eps when Jimmie was in a snit with Warner Bros.

But when I grew up and realized what a thankless position Byron and Christopher were placed in, I had real sympathy for them both. They were not treated well by Warner Bros at all. They were not allowed to have any real personality of their own; they were supposed to be Bo and Luke but with different names and faces. Who could hope to pull that off?

Byron (Coy) has been at some Dukes events and he's a nice guy in real life. (I'm not just saying that because his agent lurks around here. Heh!) Seriously, Bryron appreciates Dukes fans and he's nothing but smiles when you meet him.

All said, Byron and Chris did the best they could do - they kept the show going during Tom and John's walkout - and gracefully gave up their roles when the original Duke boys returned. They were in a no-win situation from the word go, knowing their gig was temporary and having a lot of constraints placed on them.

If you like Coy and Vance, you'll like "The Dukes" animated series. They did a good job with thier voice talents for their cartoon selves. Here too, John and Tom returned and took over during the series, and Coy and Vance disappeared without explanation. Such is Hollywood, y'all.

  3. For those of ya'll who haven't seen our latest homepage update, LEE 1 sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $121,000. ( $110,000 plus commission fee which is paid by the buyer.)

Another General Lee on the market is this one being offered by Byron Cherry, a/k/a Coy Duke.

There is a General Lee replica for sale on Craigslist, which reportedly was owned by the late Christopher Mayer. (HazzardNet makes no warranties about this, we're just passing along the ad "as is." )

If you know of any other General Lees for sale, feel welcome to tell us about it!

  4. By the way Brian, why are some things on posts coming up orange? (like license plate on post 52)

It's an automated link thing we're experimenting with. It's similar in principal to other ad links that you see scattered around here. So far it's not too obnoxious and it picks up a few nickles and dimes. (literally.) All part of keepin' the lights on in the house, if you dig my meaning.

  5. i1976, whatever your creative inspiration, go for it. By experimenting with known quantities and characters, you build skills. Be it writing, art, what have ya. I've seen a lot of people hone their writing and artistic talents over the years by working with Dukes of Hazzard characters and settings.

Ya know, I once had a friend who was into Luke Duke and liked to write fanfic, pairing him up with a "Mary Sue" character and putting them into different situations. ( all fairly innocent but dramatic.) She went on to sell short-story romances to magazines. One of her checks was for $1,000. For a short story! She just changed the names and location, revamped a fanfic, and got a paycheck. I about fell over.

Anyhow! Never feel that what you're doing is dumb. It's a natural creative process. In fact, here's a nice, edgy photo of Enos for ya.

  6. Great stuff, thanks for posting! I'm a fan of short-track racing myself. I'm fortunate that the track I grew up with is still in operation, though these tracks are now an endangered species around the country.

And having my curiosity up by reading about Evans, I looked at more info about the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and found that Cale Yarborough is joining the club. Not only did he have a terrific career, but he was in two Dukes of Hazzard episodes. An ESPN article talks about it a little bit. Here's the article, scroll down to "A Lifetime of Close Calls" for the feature about Cale and his first Dukes stint:

  7. LOL

    Thanks Brian.

That's twice that you've recently caught mistakes I've made. I'm embarressed but glad they got corrected.

Getting old isn't as bad as the alternative. Much better.

By the way, where's Val been? I know she'd laugh if she saw the midgets on a mule. (There I go, getting my sayings mixed up again)

I make mistakes all the time, but people are so used to 'em by now, nobody notices. Heh heh.

Val had to go and grow up on us. She got married awhile back, got a new job too. I know she's here when she can be.

  8. As ya'll know, we promote all things Dukes of Hazzard. Not just one cast member, but all of 'em. We do our best to keep ya updated on everybody's appearances and projects. We try to be as fair and balanced as possible in this respect.

One of the ways we keep promoting the Dukes of Hazzard, is by reminding the programming directors and media producers that there IS a big Dukes of Hazzard fan base. One of the ways we can show that, is by Facebook "Likes."

Since so many big companies are taking Facebook very seriously, we've had to do the same. By no means are we slowing down our main site here. But a boost in our FB numbers will help as we pursue the release of "Enos" on DVD, and so on.

We have a goal of getting to 13,000 Facebook "Likes" by June. As of this post, we're just under 3,200. We got a ways to go!

If you're on Facebook, can you please help us by clicking "Like" on HazzardNet? Here's our Facebook page:

Thank you for your help! Y’all have been the greatest and have kept us going for 13 years!

  9. And don't forget this old saying Val....Getting old is much worse than the alternative.

Any chance you got that one a mite backwards? Did you mean getting old isn't as bad as the alternative? ' (as in, kicking the bucket being the alternative?)

I guess it depends on yer perspective, but I'll take adding on the years.

  10. James Best and Sonny Shroyer will be at a car show in Gray, GA on March 03, 2012! There will also be a Daisy Duke contest and these guys get to pick the winner. This is one line of duty that ol' Rosco is really gonna enjoy!

Gray, GA is a little hamlet out in the middle of nowhere, southeast of Atlanta. But you got plenty of time to plan a trip. By clicking on the links below, you can get the details that are public at this time:
