I've struggled with "Hazzard County" ever since meeting Jerry Rushing. Without the show, I might not have ever known him. Sorry to hijack, thanks for the interesting topic Roger. I look forward to others posting their thoughts.

Too late for a Christmas challenge? Tonight, was reading through previous holiday stories. There are some really good ones, that were only a few pages. Focused on one character. Terrific longer stories too. Here is the challenge: Write a story that takes place around Christmas or New Years. Even if you only get part of it done, share a preview and turn in when finished. Maybe you have a story that you've never submitted, submit it! Does that sound good?

"Who took the endings from the fairytales?", that is probably my favorite lyric of the song. A very important question to many Americans. It's sad to drive down a street where a company founded over 100 years ago and employed thousands of local people is shuttered. See a family on the side of a busy road with a 'help us' sign. John probably thought a lot about the decision to make this song and what images to use. I appreciate his effort.

Stories that haven't been worked on in a year or more... Yes No Maybe Undecided

Has anyone else read this book since it's release? It is a good representation of Mr. Best's life journey. Interesting facts and never before seen photos in three hundred twenty one pages. One of my favorites quotes is "I had not forgotten Burt's earlier generosity, the true act of friendship he offered at a time when I was in dire need". He is referring to Burt Reynolds. Moments from their friendship are shared. Including one that involves Jerry Reed and the making of Gator. He details several Dukes Of Hazzard experiences. Like how Rick Hurst found out he was no longer a cast member. There is a snapshot of Jimmie with FireCreek, a favorite painting. Personal life, early films, stunt work and film school. So much in this legacy writing, including poetry. Thank you Mr. Best for taking the time to write and share.
