There will be an Earnhardt in 2 cup races this year, Jeffrey will drive the #81 Toyota for XCi Racing in both Talladega Cup races. The cars will basically be Gibbs racing cars so we'll get to see what he can do in top notch equipment. https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2019/02/14/jeffrey-earnhardt-to-drive-seven-races-for-new-cup-xfinity-team-in-2019/
  2. I read about that beauty in Hot Rod Magazine. Not really a fan of the wheels though.

Qualifying was interesting with all 4 Hendrick cars in the top 4. I would have watched the Clash if I could have found a youtube stream in hd as my bluray player has a bunch of apps, youtube being one of them but it sounds like I didn't miss much. I couldn't believe what they aired on Fox instead of the Clash race, a freaking dog show, I thought it would have been college basketball or soccer but I guess they thought a dog show would get better ratings on Fox than a Nascar race .
  4. Dang Mother Nature can't make her mind up, high 30's yesterday, high 50's forecasted(possible new record high) for this evening and 20 degrees for tomorrow. Got the new battery put in Tuesday, let the mechanic handle that since the wife's car is like the Enterprise D from Star Trek Next Generation. Then went to the store to buy new wiper blades only to find out only one brand would fit without spending half an hour fiddling with an adapter, thank you gm engineers for making even the easiest things to change a pain in the butt chore. Of course only one auto store in town carried them besides the dealerships and they were about the same price as the dealership minus the installation charge.

Yeah I still can't wrap my head around that. It's not like Nascar doesn't have cameras everywhere around the garage and pit areas so I doubt teams would install illegal parts or do body mods at the track. I personally think they just use post race inspection "fails" to manipulate the points. The Gen 7 "Stock Car" will arrive at Daytona in 2021 https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2019/02/03/generation-7-nascar-date-2021/ Will basically be like the current body but allow more front and rear changes to reflect OEM street car that it is based off of. New engines will come after 2021. Hope 2021 won't be the death of the v8 in Nascar.

  7. Jumper cables are not standard in any car here however it is a dealer sold option. Definitely will be picking up a set this weekend though. Did the taxes the other night and out of our refund we will now just have $50 leftover after repairs for both cars. Knock on wood hope these are the last car repairs for the rest of the year besides oil changes. We officially got down to -11 Fahrenheit with windchills near -50 although @ two local news channels their equipment readings were -15 for the low temp. One channel did a month long temperature prediction for February and said we could possibly have another polar vortex near the end of the month.
  8. Year just keeps getting better. as if i haven't spent enough on car repairs this month now the battery in the wife's car decides to go dead. No couldn't do it 5 days ago when it was still under warranty so it would have been cheaper since they would have pro-rated it. To top it off I found out we have a fair weather friend and not one that would come out and help my wife get a jump from AAA. Wouldn't drive the 5 minutes to the wife's work and wait for the AAA truck so she could get a free jump. Told my wife "why don't you get a AAA membership". Yep not going out of my way anymore to put her trash cans away on trash day.
  9. Been up since 2:30am listening to the building cracking and popping from the extreme cold temps, hope I can tune out the noise the next few nights. Feel bad for the stray animals around here though, wish there was something more I could do other than put food out for them till the temps go back to normal.

I'm looking forward to testing out my new soundbar with Daytona, I know NHRA races sound awesome on it so I hope Nascar does as well . Richard Petty's grandson Thad Moffit to make ARCA debut @ Daytona 40 years after Kyle Petty's ARCA debut win. https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2019/01/28/richard-pettys-grandson-thad-moffitt-to-make-daytona-debut-in-arca-season-opener/ would be awesome if he could win it. 12. As a latecomer to this site I just want to say Thank You for starting it and keeping it going. I've been a huge DoH fan my whole life and besides the dvd's, this site has taken me back to some good memories watching the Dukes with my dad and Grandpa when they originally aired on Friday nights and Saturday mornings on the local cbs station.
  13. Hey Roger did you have any water rescue's on your side of Lake Erie from not to smart people venturing out on the ice? Had quite a few here last weekend even though the temps haven't been cold enough to make deep enough ice to venture out on. You'd think people would be smarter and have some common sense. Looks like we'll be hit again Monday though the local weather casters are being hush hush on how many inches at the moment but saying we could get as much as we did Saturday.
  14. Got 8.5 inches total snow all day Saturday, thankfully it was the light fluffy kind so it made it somewhat easier to shovel though my muscles still ache from shoveling 2 driveways. Glad the frigid cold didn't do anything to the wife's car, thought the battery might not make it but it started right up. My car is still in the shop waiting for parts and when all is fixed the bill will be around $500.
  15. Liftoff thanks hoss now I got that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day

  19. Mother Nature can sure get artsy sometimes. I hated scraping the windows a couple weeks ago due to overnight fog/frost that left an interesting spiderweb pattern on the windows of the car. Well RogerDuke on the western side of Lake Erie it now looks like we will be missed by the worst of the storm. Forecasters were all gloom and doom Monday and Tuesday now predicting we will get 2-4 inches, 6 inches at most, though it looks like my in-law's will get about 8 inches. Wife stopped at the store last night to pick something up for dinner and was shocked at how busy it was. She said every checkout lane was at least 6 people deep and everybody had full carts of food and water. Local weather forecasters should really be ashamed of themselves working people up into such a frenzy so early on before a storm. One even said this could be the worst snow storm we've ever seen which obviously now it won't even be anywhere close. Hope you get that furnace fixed before the storm as the frigid temps behind it will be cold, Monday here will be in the single digits for a high with windchills 20-30 below 0.
  20. I might have wished a little too hard for snow... Heard on the local morning news on top of the 3 inches we're expecting Thursday night into Friday morning we might get up to 12 inches of snow Saturday. Over the weekend scored some nice deals at the local Meijer, basically like a Walmart in the Michigan-Ohio-Indiana area, since they are going to remodel the store and need space to move the grocery section too they put half the clothing and shoe section on clearance and an additional 40% off the clearance prices. got a new pair of shoes for $18 orig. price was $60, new winter gloves for $5 and a plaid jacket with sherpa lining for $11. I hope they put the tool section on clearance next .

  24. Beats me. Ran fine going to the Store, ran like crap when I started it to head back home was idling below 500 and almost stalling at red lights. Sunday took it out again to see if it was doing the same thing and it ended up stalling out in the middle of the road, got it restarted and safely ran a red light to get it back home. It's in line at the mechanic waiting to be checked out at the moment. He thinks it might be the fuel pump because what I described is what my dad's previous car did a few years ago, though my dad's old car was 3 yrs older than mine but basically same make and model. Briefly got out the spring jacket yesterday and enjoyed the mid 50's degree temps but winter came back with a fury today with just a high of 30 and windchills around 20 brrrr and Saturday is forecasted to have 2-4+ inches of snow, will be the area's first measurable snow since last April.
