Although this technically isn't a project, I feel I should post it here. I got this bike earlier today. I had dealt with this person before, and they said they'd give me any scrap bikes that they didn't want. Unfortunately it is, well how do I put it...a rust bucket. The frame is badly rusted in places, the back wheel is one size to big and is badly rusted. There's only one brake, no handlebar grips,the seat is ripped so the rider gets wet when they sit on the saddle, and despite a sticker saying it's a 15 speed the gears are nonexistent. However despite this the bike is a beast. It's lack of gears leave it permanently in gears 3-5. This makes it quite fast, so it's like a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you think it looks familiar, then I don't blame you, because it's the same type of bike as the top of the Tall Bike project I'm working on. At the moment I plan to use it as a daily rider, but may end up modifying or scrapping it in the future.

We finally had a break from the rain. We had four days of heavy rain, and some places had a months worth of rain in a day! Anyway I store most of my bikes outside exposed to the elements (leaving them stored under a tarp is actually worse than leaving them exposed to the elements). I had the tandem mostly stripped of it's paint last Sunday, so naturally it became fairly rusty during the wet week. Fortunately it was just surface rust, and it didn't take too long to strip off with a wire brush on a drill. I got a coat of primer on it, them sprayed the metallic silver base coat on. Unfortunately that's all I got done today. I had a few people drop bikes in for small repairs, so wanted to get them out of the way. Here's a picture of the bike with most of the silver painted. Oh yes I almost forgot. One of my neighbors was throwing out a broken tricycle last weekend. I saw it had wheels that could be used on my wooden go kart, so I asked if I could have it. They had no problems with me taking it as it was worthless to them. After I took the wheels off, I realized that I could use the handlebars on the tandem bike. This is only a mock up, I've still to repaint them, and mount them more securely in the seatpost.

That was in season four. The episode was called "Cletus in Love" if I'm correct. It was the episode where Daisy subconsciously said "I love ya" to Cletus, and the episode partially revolved around Cletus chasing after Daisy, and Daisy trying to explain to Cletus that she didn't mean it literally.

Hey y'all I'm sure I'm not the only one who has found themselves flicking through the tv or radio channels, and hearing the latest song being played. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who's questioned how the song made it to number one. Most of my friends agree with me on this. I'm convinced that music has gone into a downward spiral. In fact the only person who's firmly against me is my fourteen year old sister, who's obsessed with every boyband that comes out of those useless reality song competition shows. I'm into country, rock and blues. It may not be everybody's favorite type of music, but each song has it's own little story in it. Today's music, however, is empty and purely money driven. How on earth did Willow Smith get anywhere?? She wrote, sorry she had someone write her, a song about whipping her hair back and forth. What happened to the good ol' days of Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, and The Beatles. Modern musicians also feel the need to play with their voices with computer editing software, wave their arms about as if they're having muscle spasms, and generally make an idiot of themselves. I really feel that music has gone into a downward spiral. I maintain that since the mid nineties, only a handful of good music tracks have been released. The majority are useless, talentless "singers" who say the lyrics and then use computer software to "make it sound better". Anyway that's my rant over. What are y'all's opinions on modern music?

I'm sure some of y'all have been wondering what I was going to eventually do. Well I spoke to my friend, and she said that the place we're going to is fairly lax when it comes to security and ids. This makes sense, as 90% of people going are already 18. I'm going to bring my drivers licence just in case, as it's the only form of id I have (besides my passport which I'd lose ). In a way I'm glad I'm not getting a fake id made, because I would probably look guilty and get caught out. If I get refused, well I haven't really planned that far ahead yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with some sort of plan. I'm going tuxedo shopping tomorrow, which should be an experience as I only ever go clothes shopping for jeans,tshirts and hoodies. The debs is on the 3rd of October, which is a Wednesday. The bus back to the school isn't until 9 on Thursday morning, so hopefully I'll be able to make it into school...not!! Haha!

The two wooden blocks with groves cut in them. A picture showing how the copper is held in place by the wood. The front axle / steering assembly is basically a rectangular piece of wood, with a hole drilled in the middle as a pivot point and a bolt with an eye piece on the end with some washers. Pretty simple huh? This final picture shows the go-kart in it's most up to date condition. There will be two more bolts with eye pieces attached to the front axle assembly, and a rope tied to each eye piece to enable the rider to steer.

Hey y'all! I'm in my final year of school, and have big exams at the end of the year. One of the exam subjects I do is woodwork, and we're allowed to make anything we want (within reason). I started off building a wooden bike frame, but I wouldn't have had enough time to finish it. I then decided to make a wooden push go-kart. I'm nearly finished building the rolling frame, then I just have to paint it (a la General Lee of coarse!), and maybe add a foam seat. Here are some of the pictures from birth to current state. The main frame. The back and sides. I used finger joints to hold the three sides together, then screwed them into the main frame. The sides and back screwed in place. There's a long beam of wood running from the front to the back of the kart. This stops the wood flexing and reduces the possibility of it snapping in half. The rear axle is basically a threaded bar in a copper pipe, held in place by a groove cut in a piece of wood. The two square pieces of wood are there to I've more surface area for the axle assembly to glue and screw to.

Here's a picture of the welded frame. The front saddle is just for looks at the moment. The reason there isn't an extra bar running from one bike to another is because the welds are really strong, and the back bike wraps around the front bike so it gives the frames extra rigidity.

I got the tandem frame back earlier, but unfortunately it was too dark to take a picture. You may have already read that I'm giving this creation a unique paint job. I was watching "Mason Dixon Girls" the other day. After Rosco rammed the General Lee in the first few minutes of the episode I began to wonder what the General Lee and Rosco would look like fused together.... So that's my planned paint job for this bike. The General Lee will be the front half of the tandem (obviously) and the Rosco will be the rear half.

I've decided that instead of spamming the HazzardNet Garage section of the forums, all new projects will appear here. Although I'm in my final year of school, with big exams at the end of the year, I hope to build a new wacky bike at least once every three months. This is a list of potential projects that I'd like to try and build. Some of these I found on the Internet (mainly instructables.com) but most of these are entirely original. -Rollover Bike -Wheelchair Bike II -Recumbent Bike III -Swing Bike -Ski Bike II -Granny Cruiser -Shopping Cart Trailer -Pedal Go Kart -Prone Bike -Tow Truck Bike -Redneck Rollercoaster Bike -Hand Powered Unicycle -Cargo Bike / Shopping Cart Bike -Short Wheelbase Bike -Lawnmower Bike -Chainsaw Skateboard -Lawnmower Powered Bike -Two Wheel Drive Bike -Amphibious Bike I'm sure I'll come up with more, but that's just a few of the weird and wacky creations I have planned for the future. Let me know what y'all think. Maybe I could set up a poll to see which one I'll build next. For the moment though, the shopping cart trailer is the next one on my list. My parents are sick of the junk piled up in our yard, and don't want to keep going with me to the dump. The trailer could also be used for carrying food, bikes, people... Whatever I need to carry!

I had the tandem frame and the cruiser frame collected earlier today. Hopefully I'll have them back by Monday evening, which means that I could work on them on Saturday or Sunday, and get them working before the cold weather sets in which would prohibit me from painting.

I don't normally get riled by things like this, but I just feel I have to repost this..this..well I don't want to say what I really feel like saying because I'd be banned from HNet. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2199300/Grandmother-91-left-horrific-injuries-beaten-mugger-handbag-contained-just-20.html I've never heard of or met this poor old lady, but I'm so full of anger from reading it that I'm wishing for all sorts of horrible things to happen to her attacker. I know that if this happened to my grandparents, I wouldn't rest until I personally caught up with their attacker and...well let's just say that they wouldn't be mugging people again for a while.

Haha just wait until you see the potential paint job for the tandem. I bet nobody will figure it out...

This next one has "lunacy" written all over it. I've seen one or two of these bikes on YouTube before, but never really saw the appeal of them. They're heavier,more awkward, and less stable than the Fall Guy bike I built. I don't blame you if you haven't heard of them before, because they're not exactly popular. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the Tall Bike! I never planned on building one, but when I contacted the seller about the blue bike frame for the new tandem, he also offered me this frame for two tires. I took it because I knew I'd regret it if I didn't take it. I was wondering what I should do with the frame, when I remembered the tall bikes from YouTube. I had another scrap bike that I hadn't fully stripped yet, so decided to use that as the lower bike, and use the new frame as the upper frame. I haven't quite finished securing the two bikes together yet. So far the two bikes are only being held together by the seat post of the lower bike to the kickstand mount of the upper bike. I plan on using steel piping to secure the back of the two bikes together. To do this I'm going to drill two holes in the pipe, at the top and at the bottom. Then I'm going to bolt it to the upper bike via the back wheel mounts, and to the lower bike by drilling two holes in the back if the frame to accommodate the bolts. For the front I think I'm going to fit an axle to the upper bike, and slide it through the handlebars of the lower bike. I'll add some heavy duty washers to each side of the handlebars, to hold the front of the two bikes in place.

Well I'm at it again! While I'm waiting for my friend with the welder to come home, my over imaginative mind went into overdrive. Firstly let me begin with this bike. I got it back in July, and used it as a parts bike. After I stripped it down to the bare frame I left it sitting in my scrap pile, which I would eventually take to the scrap yard. It was around this time that I decided to build my own bike. I needed a front steering pipe (headset) for the bike, so I cut the one out of the scrapped blue frame. I returned the bike to the scrap pile, with every intention of taking it to the scrapyard. However whilst searching the classifieds earlier for specific parts I came across this. It's identical to the frame I already have, so I decided to get it and make... A TANDEM BIKE!! I made one in May, but ended up scrapping it due to one of the bikes having severe rust. For this new one I'm going to inlist the help of my friend with the welder. I'm going to weld the front of the old bike to the back of the new bike. Here's one of the first progress pictures.

I've just got two more things to say while they're still on my mind. Firstly about political correctness gone mad, and secondly about an old fashion form of political correctness, namely the catholic church. Firstly, if the confederate flag is to disappear from future General Lee's, how long is it before dressing up as a ghost for halloween is banned because someone is offended because a child in a bed sheet is too similar to the Ku Klux Klan? If they ban the flag from an icon of a family show, how long is it before the innocent image of a child dressed up as a ghost becomes banned, or frowned upon? Secondly, I'm sure most of y'all watched part of the Olympics. Did anyone else see the Closing Ceremony? Or more specifically the closing song, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"? That song was originally released in conjunction with British comedy group Monty Python's Life of Brian movie in 1979. For anyone that isn't familiar with the movie, the movie is about the life of a man back in Jesus's time, who was born in the adjacent stable, and is constantly being mistaken as the messiah. He is eventually crucified, and in the final scene all the people being crucified break into "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life". The catholic church found this offensive, and as a result the movie was either rated 18, or banned altogether from most European countries. I happened to be watching the closing ceremony with my grandparents, and they were slightly angry that "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" was being sung, on the bases that it was glamorizing Jesus's death. Obviously people's views on the movie have changed in the past 30 years, and I think it shows how far we've progressed, or atleast how far the UK has progressed, since the movies initial release and how "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is now able to be played at a worldwide event. The reason I've mentioned these two examples in the same post is this. If an offensive song released in the 70's is able to be played freely now, is their a possibility that the confederate flag could fly freely on the General Lee's roof again?

Ok first things first. I'm 17, so I've always lived in a world with some form of PC. Secondly, General Lee owners have been using the flag on their own vehicles for 30 years, so presumably WB don't own the rights on the confederate flag. That means that, in theory, somebody could buy a thousand new General Lees without the flag on top, print a thousand mini confederate flag stickers, and sell the General Lees on. And WB or any of the toy makers wouldn't be able to do anything about it because technically it's already bought and paid for. Just my two cents on the matter.

Hey y'all After putting it off all summer, I've finally done it! I passed my driver theory test which allows me to drive any car so long as I have a full licensed driver with me, and have "L" plates displayed on the car I'm driving. After I've done 12 lessons with a certified instructor, and after I've had my first licence I'm able to apply for my full licence. That means I can drive alone and without "L" plates on the car I'm driving. I drove home from the motor tax center earlier (where I filled out the form to get my licence) and couldn't help smiling uncontrollably. I'm driving my parents cars at the moment, but I'm slowly saving up for a small Suzuki Jimny, or Samurai as it's known as in America. I plan to add big off road tires, lights and bull bars. Insurance would also be cheap, because technically it's classified as a commercial vehicle. The standard engine size is a 1.3 liter, which may sound tiny, but this would cause fuel,insurance and tax to be considerably cheaper than most other cars of that size.

I spent today cutting, bending, measuring and grinding. Whenever you need to weld something, the two surfaces have to be clean. I saved my friend the trouble of grinding down the areas to be welded. I also bent the back forks slightly to accept a 5 speed rear wheel. A quick mock up of how the frame should look when it's been welded. The pedals and seat are just for show.

Thanks Roger! I plan on using it just for cruising in, not for taking into town and finding small parking spaces! I spoke to my friend today who's going to do the welding for me. He's away at the moment but should be home on Monday. I spent about an hour earlier working on the frame. Since I haven't got access to a machine that can bend metal I've resorted to cutting small notches into the tubing and bending it into the desired shape. I'll weld the bends in the frame to give it extra strength. The forks I'm using to hold the back wheel fit perfectly over the tubing. I didn't have to do any cutting or shaping. All I have to do is grind the area around the joint down and it's ready to weld. I also made a start on the bars linking the front of the bike to the main frame. I just need to grind the front part down and it'll be ready to weld! Recognize these? Of coarse you do. The were originally on the recumbent bike, then moved on to the wheelchair bike, and now it's final resting place will be on this bike. I've just to grind down the area that needs welding and I'll be ready to go!

After building, modifying and generally working on bikes for the past few years I've decided to step things up a notch, and have a go at designing,fabricating and building my own custom bike frame. I went through about a dozen designs, before finally settling on this one. This is a cross between an American beach cruiser, and a chopper motorcycle. I've decided to use only materials I have in my garage for this build. Luckily I have some round steel tubing, which is ideal for the frame. I'm going to incorporate the rear fender into the frame, so will probably use sheet metal for the rear fender. The rear dropouts, where the back wheel goes, is going to be the front forks off a 1970's racer. The handlebars are from the lawnmower which donated it's engine for the lawnmower bike. The front end comes off the free blue bike I got last month. Before I cut the front end off the frame After I cut the front end off the frame
