Hobie Hartkins reacted to NewDuke in Looking for the music that plays during each episode preview
It's been a long time but I've never given up the search. I've learned that much of the steel guitar in the series was played by JD Maness. I was able to contact Mr. Maness a couple years ago and he confirmed that he played much of the music but he did not think any of it was ever released.
Since then, I have been looking into recreating the track by trying to hire instrumental artists through fiverr.com. However I cannot find anyone skilled enough to even attempt the steel guitar part. I'd appreciate any advice or leads on the original track. If I somehow get a good version of this, I will definitely post it here.

That's pretty cool. Flatt and Scruggs are legendary. They did the Beverly Hillbilly theme didn't they?

All they are is overpaid apes ! They have no appreciation for what this country has done for them! Where else in this world could they go and do what they do and make that kind of money?

Hobie Hartkins reacted to RogerDuke in Alan Jackson
We're off to an Alan Jackson concert tonight and have 5th row seats on the floor in front of the stage. I'm not a huge fan but my wife is. I just became a bigger fan a few minutes ago when I checked wickapedia and found out he was raised dirt poor in Georgia. I'm wearing my 01 hat and orange Dukes shirt just in case he notices....they are bright colors after all....and the hat was signed by another Georgia boy, Sonny Shroyer. I'll just bet ya that 'ole Alan is a Dukes fan.

There are three places you should not politically protest 1) weddings 2) funerals 3) NFL games

Hobie Hartkins reacted to RogerDuke in NFL boycott
Living in western Pennsylvania I have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan since before they even won their first Super Bowl but I was happy to see them lose yesterday. Maybe I'll get over it but for now I will not watch any NFL games this year, especially the Steelers. Only one Steeler came out to stand for the national anthem. That makes me sick.

Hobie Hartkins reacted to Meadowmufn in Kid With Whiney Voice ( A Boy's Best Friend?)
In several scenes, Danny Cooksey's voice was dubbed by well-known voice artist June Foray, best known for characters such as Rocky (of Rocky and Bullwinkle) and Natasha Fatale. Not sure why, but perhaps the sound quality wasn't great for those scenes and Danny wasn't available for looping. Not one of my favorite episodes. June Foray also dubbed Sport's voice in Twilight Zone's "The Bewitchin' Pool", one of my least favorite episodes of that series as well. I did love her turn as Talky Tina in "Living Doll" episode of Twilight Zone, however. She passed away a few months ago at the age of 99. She would have turned 100 last week (September 18th).

It's certainly not an especially favorite episode of mine, but I don't mind it. I haven't watched my way through all the episodes for ages, but I never skip any when I do.

I liked it. I will agree about Strange Visitor and Dr Jekyll though. I'm not a fan of either.

What people should do when the national anthem is played:
Stand--R.E.M.

I agree Hobie, I can't watch that episode due to the grating voice alone. I will give the worst episode award to "Strange Visitor to Hazzard". Along with the Coy and Vance episodes, I just pretend it never happened. In a strange way, I thought that Tom's performance in "Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Duke" was hilarious.

I may have posted info before, but I don't remember doing so.
The orphan boy in "A Boy's Best Friend" is Terry Lee, played by Danny Cooksey. His 1983 appearance in Dukes was his first acting role (he was born in 1975). Through the '80s, Danny was pretty busy, popping up in episodes of quite a few TV shows, and starting to do voice work. His largest roles were playing Sam McKinney in "Diff'rent Strokes" and Kevin Cavanaugh in "The Cavanaughs".
The 90s started with a part as John Connor's friend, Tim, in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". Since then, nearly all of Danny's work has been as a voice artist, mostly in kids' shows that I've never heard of. BTW. That "little red haired kid with the whiney voice" is now 6'1".
You can check out Danny's full TV/film career at IMBb.com.

I can't remember the name of the episode ( I'm sure Hoss will know!) but it was the one where the little red haired kid with the whiney voice got the dog and the family who owned the dog, wound up adopting him. I came across it the other night and decided to skip over it. It's one of the ones I haven't seen but a handful of times ( like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Duke, etc. etc.) because I really don't like it. ( I guess there's 3-4 of them like that) but who was that kid? Where have I heard that voice before? It seems he may have done commercials or something. I just couldn't stand to hear that voice all the way through the episode droning and whining.

Hobie Hartkins got a reaction from Rollman in Alan Jackson
He lives in my hometown ( Williamson Co.) and my mechanic back then showed me this classic 1957 Corvette convertible and told me to look at the registration in the glove compartment. I saw 57 Music Square on the address and knew it must be somebody famous in music...and .....YESS!! It was Alan Jackson's 'Vette!

Hobie Hartkins reacted to K-Duke15 in I'm Back!!!
So I'm back after like 2 years or something. Not exactly sure why I strayed away but I'm back now. I hope to be a little more active and just may get more of my fanfiction worked on again. They have been such slow works in progress.
Well I guess I've had a couple big things happen. Been working still. Cutting hair. Think I had just started when I went away. I'm still with the same company. Had switched stores in the same franchise but come Saturday I will be joining a different franchise. My benefits will be better and as well as the environment. Pay is also better which is always a plus.
The best change: I've found myself my own good ol' boy. Like literally my own. When I met him he had a mid 2000s silver charger. Come this past February though he got himself an orange 2017 challenger with a black stripe down the middle of the hood. I technically have my own General Lee. I haven't driven him but man can he handle the road. Funny enough my guy drives just like a Duke boy. Well, without the jumping the car and everything. It's incredible how all that came around. Just my luck.
I'm sure very few, if anyone, would remember me. I hope everyone has been doing well. If anything cool has happened, I'd love to hear. Everyone have a happy September almost October.

When you look at the many ways rock music has split in 50 years country music hasn't done much except drop the western in county western. I think it's due for a split though. They need to label some of this stuff county-pop and get it off the radio stations that are calling themselves country. If you want to call yourself country you need to stop playing some of that stuff. Folks like me have stopped listening.
