A episode of the current season of the UK TV show QI put forward the following:

When the Vikings invaded in the 11th century, English women found them attractive because they washed more often than the native British men. The Vikings tended to come without women, so they married English women, upsetting the locals. One monk, John of Wallingford, claimed that Danes cheated by washing. He wrote: "The Danes made themselves too acceptable to English women by their elegant manners and their care of their person. They combed their hair daily and took a bath every Saturday, and even changed their clothes frequently, be which means they undermined the chastity of the wives." Thus there is a theory that all of that stories about Vikings raping and pillaging were written by Englishmen whose wives were taken by more attractive Danes.

I must remember to have a bath on Saturday to make myself irresistible to women. ;)

That was excellent Hoss!! I didn't know that! Very interesting! Thank you!

My wife and I just watched the Eddie Murphy movie  Norbert and this church is in it.....along with other buildings on the Hazzard set. What does the sign say by the front steps? I tried to enlarge it but couldn't tell.

The sign in front of the church in Hazzard County says, " The Hazzard Gospel Church"

I'm in awe. This is truly amazing! I can't reveal who February's fan of the month is going to be but he has a black cat that reminds me of the Sphinx looking over Egypt.

Well, that let's me out...lol. Besides being the Fan of the Month for January, I haven't had an African American cat since I was a child. ( I'm white...I can't say the " B" word!  :D   )

  4. On The episode  " Share and Share Alike" , Cletus stops the car of the crooks with the  credit cards. He writes them a ticket and then one of the crooks says, " you'll need this one won't you?" and hands him a copy of the ticket. Then he says, " You want this one too?" And hands him his copy of the ticket. Cletus says  something ...." ......." ( I can't make it out...WHAT is that whole scene about??? and what did he say??)

  5. Remember all the talk about making China pay or suffer for this? You don't hear a WORD about that now, do you? We can't take that attitude Spike.  We have to want EVERYONE getting the vaccine at THE SAME TIME! After all, preferring your own or your own country isn't a very Christian attitude is it? It's definitely NOT COMMON ism...!!

I watched NBC Nightly News tonight and there were three experts on there accusing the US, Canada, Japan and Australia of being selfish for not sharing their vaccines with third world countries. Their reasoning is that a global pandemic can only be solved with a global mind-set.

More COMMUNE  ism. ( common, etc.) We're all in this thing together, etc. etc. ad nauseum.
