  1. The episode also contains the quote that I use for my signature. ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓
  2. Chocolate (now I want some ice cream!) I'm guessing it was 10p coins originally, although it may have cost more than one to play. We didn't get 20p coins until 1982, and one pound coins a year later.
  3. My brother has had medical issues throughout his life, and had half been expecting to be told to stay at home and isolate. He never was, and has been working in a food store serving the public since lockdown started. Some of his colleagues are only just starting to return to work now. I hope all goes well for you next month, MM.
  4. It was actually a slightly newer Plymouth Satellite, similar to Roadrunner that Daisy had in the Georgia episodes. You'll see another similar car in a few episodes' time when you get to Molly Hargrove's race car in 'Birds Gotta Fly'. Speaking of which, Andra Akers, who played Molly Hargrove, popped up in a Hart to Hart episode I saw last week. Yep, I missed that one, probably because he didn't get mentioned in the credits.
  5. Arcade (the game came out in 1979, just like Dukes!)
  6. Today, a friend and I found ourselves deep in the south of Ireland, so naturally we ate lunch at a restaurant named Hillbilly's. Apparently, the chain started with a single restaurant over 20 years ago, but this was my first time there. Their chicken is cooked with a secret recipe which "was discovered in a humble farmhouse kitchen deep in the heart of the American South". We enjoyed our chicken fillet burgers.
  7. I'm glad to hear that your wife's home safely. Maybe the covid left her immune system down and open to something else.
  8. Let us know when you get news, Roger. I spoke to my brother last night, and he tells me that my aunt and uncle's condition is improving.
  9. The second part has this great quote from Rosco when Cletus asks him to repeat the location: "Moose Creek, you dipstick. 'M' as in 'moose', 'O' as in 'moose', 'O' as in 'moose', 'S' as in 'moose', 'E' as in 'moose'." In the mid-90s, Alan Autry, who appeared in these episodes as Dawson (and credited as Carlos Brown), featured in season 3 and 4 of Grace Under Fire with Peggy Rea.
  10. Apparently, "Besides being voluntary firemen, they're deputy sheriff reserves." It's funny how we never see them again. Bib Tucker only gets a second mention because he owes the Dukes money, and Homer Sneed disappears without trace.
  11. I thought Homer Griggs would be the hardest to get. The other two Homers that I have are Dr. Homer Willis (the dentist in the RV) in 'Gold Fever' and Homer Hotchkiss who worked in the land office in 'Duke of Duke'. BTW. The other firefighter was Bib Tucker (who gets mentioned again in 'New Deputy in Town' later in season 4). Bib Tarkey is a character who gets mentioned in two season 6 episodes - 'Boss Behind Bars' and 'Enos's Last Chance'. It's possible that he was meant to be the same person, but the writers got his name wrong.

    One Word Song Titles

I'm marking another death in the music industry today. Peter Green, one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac, has passed away in his sleep at 73. No further details have been given. From his era with the band, the haunting instrumental 'Albatross'.
  13. I know I've been posted about guest stars from Dukes appearing in other shows in The Last 24 Hours thread, but I've just watched the CHiPs season 6 episode 'Speedway Fever' and spotted Daniel Currie as a CHP captain. It was one of only seven credited acting roles for Daniel, with another being as Homer, one of the fire fighters in 'The Great Bank Robbery'. The same episode also features a second CHiPs appearance for Katherine (Kitty) Moffat who was Trixie the genie in 'When You Wish Upon a Hogg'. As an aside, I think there were three other characters named Homer across the seven seasons. How many can you remember?
  14. Duke
  15. My uncle tested positive for covid-19 earlier this week, although my aunt was negative. Apparently, they've been pretty careful, but did meet up with my cousin's family recently.
  16. One of yesterday's episodes of Hart to Hart finally had another Dukes guest star - Robert Tessier who was Mitch Henderson in 'The Runaway'. The reason I quoted my previous post about it being funny is that the same episode featured another familiar face (to me) - Joseph Stern. When I looked him up, I realized that I knew him from a guest spot in M*A*S*H. As luck would have, out of all 251 episodes of M*A*S*H, his episode was on tonight! ETA. I'm just watching the next episode of M*A*S*H and it has another Dukes guest cast member from season 2 - William Watson who was Simon in 'Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough'.

    NASCAR news

I just wanted to go briefly off topic to mention former F1 and Champ/CART driver Alex Zanardi. It looks like the only other time I posted about him was in 2012. As a quick recap, Alex's open-wheeled racing career was cut short when he lost both legs in a Champ car race in 2001. Although he later spent four years driving touring cars in Germany, it was as a paralympic athlete where he really made a name for himself, winning four gold medals at hand-cycling. Last month he suffered serious head injuries when he collided with a truck while racing his handbike in Italy. Today I read that, after three operations, he's been brought out of his medically induced coma so that he can be transferred to a recovery facility. There's obviously a long way to go, but at least this seems like positive news.
  18. It's funny how this guest stars thing goes. I watched another two episodes of Hart to Hart today and didn't spot anyone from Dukes. I didn't recognize any of the guest stars in the first episode ('Murder Between Friends'). The second, 'Cop Out', featured Burr DeBenning who was in a couple of episodes of CHiPs and The Fall Guy. It also had an early appearance of Markie Post who went on to be Terri Michaels in The Fall Guy. The Terri Michaels character basically took over from Samantha 'Big Jack' Jack who was played by Jo Ann Pflug (Helen Hogan in 'Route 7-11') - that's the closest I could get to a Dukes connection!
  19. That guy who was reviewing episodes hasn't posted one for a couple of weeks - they normally stimulate a bit of conversation! I've recently mentioned a few occasions when I've spotted Dukes guest cast members in CHiPs, but this afternoon I got to see a couple of episodes from the first season of Hart to Hart which, like the first season of Dukes, dates from 1979. The first, 'Jonathan Hart Jr.', featured Michael Alldredge (Wheeler in 'People's Choice' and Coogan in 'The Ransom of Hazzard County') as a police lieutenant. The second, 'Death in the Slow Lane', also had a familiar face - Andra Akers (Molly Hargrove in 'Birds Gotta Fly'). Over the last couple of days it's been quite depressing looking up some of these actors on IMDb because I keep coming across people who've died young. In this case Michael Alldredge and Andra Akers were 56 and 58 respectively. It was even worse at the weekend when I checked out a cast member in CHiPs and found she'd been killed by an ex-partner just a month after the episode aired - she was just 22! I suppose it's the luck of the draw - the stars of Hart to Hart, Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers are now 90 and 77 respectively.
  20. Roger, I forgot to ask how your daughter and her family are doing.
  21. OK, this is newspaper reference rather than TV, but it fits here. This is from the front page of yesterday's edition of one of the UK's national newspapers, the Daily Star (thanks to my brother for the heads up). The Russian hackers are apparently known as "the Dukes", hence the headline.
  22. I hope she gets better soon, Roger, and that you don't get any symptoms.
  23. A few minutes from the end of 'The Meeting', Rosco crashes into the patrol car left outside the police station by the mobsters a few seconds earlier. The following exchange occurs between him and Boss: Boss: Rosco, you dang dodo brain, you did it again! Rosco: It is a mess, ain't it? I guess they'll cancel my insurance now. Boss: Because you can't see two feet. Rosco: I hit it, didn't I? Boss: I ought to hit you. Come on, let's go.
  24. They have the National Health Service over in the UK, but not here. It costs €50-60 just to visit your doctor in Ireland (unless you have a medical card). Over in the UK, your hospital bills would be covered after an accident as long as you're entitled to free medical care (i.e. you're not there on holiday etc.).
  25. I think it might have been in 'The Meeting' in season 2, but I'll have to check.
