NY Daily News article - not good....
travelerF150 replied to Capt_Redneck's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Whoever the jackass was that wrote that article can kiss my a$$. He's obviously one of those idiots that actually believes making movies is a serious art form. Movies are for entertainment purposes first. I'm sure he'd be much happier if one to the Duke boys was gay and uncle Jesse was an abusive alcoholic seeing as how those are the types of movies people like that seem to like. I agree with Dale that they would probably be saying the same thing about this movie no matter what the plot and no matter who was in the cast. If you can't apprieciate all genre's of movies then you shouldn't be a movie critic. Stick to broadway with your artsy-fartsy musicals about people with who dress up like cats or those in which every character has AIDS or something. Let people who actually like going to movies and escaping for 90 to 120 minutes deal with the movies that have fast cars, hot women, and an occasional dirty joke. -

Edmunds.com article on the car and movie
travelerF150 replied to Capt_Redneck's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I wish people would realize that the whole Confederate flag controversy centers around it's display on government land like is South Carolina. None of these minority groups say anything about people who display at their homes or buisnesses. Not to mention they haven't said a word about the movie either way. I think Dodge is missing a huge opportunity to sell cars. Oh well it's not like they're really an American company anymore anyways. I'm sure whoever made the decision works for Dialmler and lives in Germany. -

Ben Jones telling fan's to not see the movie
travelerF150 replied to dukesran1's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I will not judge something until I have seen it. I can tell you all that I will see this movie the first weekend that it is out and will report my opinion on this website. But in no means will I boycott this film. That's unAmerican to me and I'm an educated person capable of making my own decisions and opinions. I will not be a lemming and simply do something because someone I admire tells me too. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Jones. Not only for is role in the Dukes but also his contribution in the H of R. I know he's a good man but I'm an adult now and one thing I've learned in life (Maybe I even learned it from the Dukes) is that you should give something a chance before you condem it. If you don't want to see it, then don't go see, if you do, I'll see you there. -
Turner South article and survey on the movie.
travelerF150 replied to Capt_Redneck's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
p.s.: What happend in Georgia was a result of a liberal Governor and a Democratic house and Senante. And as some of you might know they were all vote out the next election and everyone knows it was because of the flag. -

If these people thought that Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller would've made a good Bo and Luke duo, they obviously didn't ask country southern folk. Probably half were from Miami, and being a Florida native I can tell you there ain't a damn thing about that town that's country. I will say though I'm happy that they agree with the Confederate flag staying on the General. But that's the way it is down here. Nobody really thinks it's offensive in the South cause we all have grown up with it. It's more prodominante down here than the state flag. Even those who grew up in the Northern states but moved down here know that. -
Looks like the crybabies in this forum are at it again. Guess it'll be another month before I care to read anything on this site again.

Hey Dale, Please let me know what part of the country you're from cause if all the men there look like Jessica Simpson I need to stay away, cause I just might turn gay myself.

The show and and the movie some what a like
travelerF150 replied to dukesran1's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I've never said that the Dukes wasn't a family show. But you can still have a family show and have some adult content. Look at the Shrek movies. My nieces and nephews loved them but they were filled with adult humor. As long as a movie doesn't have graphic or gratuitious sex and violence then I think it's ok for children to see. Johhny Knoxville getting thrown into a wall and Jessica Simpson in a bikini are neither. There maybe some inuendo in the movie but the show had plenty of that as well. I watched the show from when I was 4 until about 10 or 11 and I never picked up on some of the stuff until TNT put it back on the air and I was like 16 or 17. Not to mention there is nothing in the trailer that would make me believe that the Dukes aren't a strong family. Obviously Daisy is trying to help out the boys in both the scenes they show of her and they only really show one scene of Jesse when he's talking to Lynda Carter. BTW Jesse was a ladies man in the show too if you'll remember. This movie seems to be sticking to the show fairly well considering today's world, even if it is more loyal to the first 3 seasons or so which are my favorites anyways. -
Why do people judge a movie before it comes out?
travelerF150 replied to dukesran1's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
For one thing the General can never be a tuner car because it's rear wheel drive and has a V-8, and another thing the General wasn't a dirt racer it was a stock car. Two completly different machines. Dirt racers are built from the frame up and have been for decades, stock cars are cars that you buy from a manufacturer, i.e. Ford , Dodge, Chevy, and modify to fit whatever catagory you wish to race. Another thing, Daisy had no problem using her body to get what she wanted. How many time did she flag someone down wearing a bikini or having her legs showing from underneath a car with the hood up? -
Something just came to mind. Those old Caprices bear a striking resemblance to the die cast police cars made by Ertl. Maybe they wanted to sell merchandise without having to manufacture new toy police cars? Just a thought. I have no proof behind this.

Don't forget how many times they got in fights over this and that. The Duke boys from the t.v. show weren't perfect as some people hear would like to believe. They were acquaintences with the local madam: Daisy's Song The did make moonshine: High Octane Started a fight cause they got run off the road: Double Sting Stole patrol cars on several occasions Agreed to run shine again: Swamp Molly And all this is just off the top of my head. -
I come from a small town in Florida and the Sheriffs department there still has a couple of those old Caprices runnin' around.

'The Dukes of Hazzard' Theatrical Trailer
travelerF150 replied to wLc's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
All I have to say is that people shouldn't trash something they haven't seen yet. I know this movie won't be for every Dukes fan but no matter what they do with the concept they can't change the original show. I'm looking at as two completly different things. You have to. The only way that this movie could be true to the original show would be to have the original cast in it and lets face it that would be impossible. Not only because the cast has gotten older but what would the Dukes be with out Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg? The first reunion movie was good, the second was ok at best. But lets face it, they're not making this movie for the hardcore, purist Dukes fan. They're making it because they have a cool concept for a movie that will be entertaining and make money. -
'The Dukes of Hazzard' Theatrical Trailer
travelerF150 replied to wLc's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
In the beginning of the trailer the 01 is different then in the rest of the movie because the hasn't become the General Lee yet. The first clips of the trailer that show the car being chased in the woods, the car has a different 01, doesn't have rims on it, just plain black wheels, not to metion it looks like a rust bucket. I don't even know if it has the flag on it or not at the beginning. The car becomes the General in the beginning of the movie after the boys wreck it and have to rebuild it. That's why it looks funny in the beginning of the trailer.
