These pics aren't from the movie. They were taken about a year ago when some guy invested about 50 grand to jump the General Lee on the 25 anniversary of the pilot episode. They actually showed it on VH1.

For one thing the Duke boys aren't stoners in the film, Burt Renyolds is a great actor and would be good even if he was cast as Lulu. Jessica Simpson is hot!, I don't know if she can act but I'm gonna give her a chance anyways, and if she can't act I won't mind looking at her in short shorts or a bikini for 97 minutes. The car looks the same and it's still set in the south so I don't know what all you people are cryin' about. If you don't want to go see it then don't. I'll put my popcorn in your empty seat, it's fine with me. P.S. As for the new Charger, Motor Trend says that if the car sells well enough they're gonna offer a 2 door version in 2008 or 2009.

Who's the "Balladeer" gonna be?
travelerF150 replied to heavy_metal_good_ol_boy's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Whoever mentiioned Toby Keith has the right idea I think. He's definitely got the speaking voice and the singing voice for it. Not to mention he has a slight connection to the old show. -
I've seen the new Charger, it's a 4-door sedan but it does have the hemi option. If sales of the vehicle go well like they did for the Magnum, Dodge is gonna come out with a 2-door coupe with the hemi and call it the new Dodge Charger R/T.

If you don't want to go see it, then don't go see it. I for one am looking forward to it. If it sucks it sucks, if it's cool I'll see it again. I'm not gonna join some band wagon and mess up something that could turn out to be pretty good. I won't pass judgement until I see it.

If people want to make slavery an issue they should be just as mad about the American flag as the Confederate. The Confederate flag is nothing more than a symbol of regional pride for people like us. Other may have a twisted view of it and try and use it as a symbol of hatred. Those people are not American and certainly not Southern, and as far as I'm concerned they are nothing more that a waste of fresh air everytime they breath. I wouldn't pee on them if they were on fire!

A LITTLE HONESTY AND SOME OPINIONS

I agree that the "fresh concept" of walking tall took it too far and ruined the movie. They should've just given it a different title. -
A LITTLE HONESTY AND SOME OPINIONS
travelerF150 replied to renoman's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
What people have to realize is that the movie isn't a flat out recreation of the show. It's a fresh new take on the "concept" of the show. From what I've seen so far, it's gonna be a cross between The Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit. For me that's my favorite show and my favorite movie all rolled into one. I'm very excited about it. But it's good that people are skeptical because if they weren't who know's what they might try and get away with. If they'd have done it like Starsky and Hutch I don't know if I'd even go see it. But just keep this in mind. It's been 20 years since the show ended. Times have changed and even though we all loved the original show, if someone else tried to do the movie like the original show it would suck. The thing that amazes me is that the Dukes have gone from just a kick ass tv show to an American legend, like Jesse James. 20 years from now if the movie is sucessful we'll probably see a whole new take on the story. Most of our American heros were far from what Hollywood has made them out to be. An considering that the Dukes is based on the life of Jerry Rushing, an actual person, I believe they will be considered as much of an American story as Davy Crockett. The original show was great, but it was only one way of telling a story. With the show Bo and Luke always did the right thing, the good guys always won and the bad guys always got it in the end. This movie I believe might be a more realistic take on a classic American story, which is what seems to sell these days. Not to say that Bo and Luke will be bad guys but they have flaws just like all of us and it's there ability to overcome them and do the right thing that makes them heros. -
What's your favorite episode?
travelerF150 replied to travelerF150's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I like the dual role thing too. In Double Dukes Tom and John both got to do but so did the General Lee. The only episodes I'm not to fond of are the ones where they use model cars for the stunts. Not that I think you can jump a real car over a creek and still be able to drive it but when it starts flying over grain silos, that's where I draw the line. -
Even though my favorite season is the first my favorite episode is "Double Dukes". That's the one where two hoods disguise themselves as Bo and Luke and have their own General Lee.

What's your favorite season?
travelerF150 replied to travelerF150's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I forgot to mention the Georgia landscape is one of the things that I like about the first season over the other. -
I was just curious. I'm partial to the first few seasons. My favorite being the very first. I just wish there were more episodes.

Awesome pics. Thanks alot. They also answer some question as well.

Warner Bros. did air previews for two of it's upcoming movies but they were Batman Begins and Constantine.

Interview--Ben Jones hates the script
travelerF150 replied to inga's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I think Mr. Jones has made the show out to be more than it was. There was sex in the show and there were drugs too. Hello what do you all think moonshine is? I'm sure he's upset about not being included in the movie. He's been quoted as saying that the movie should star the original cast. But the last thing we need is another "Hazzard in Hollywood". I welcome a new take on the idea of the show. But I also own both seasons available on DVD and will buy any other seasons that they might sell. And if the movie sucks then oh well. I'll always have the reas show. -
Actor for Uncle Jesse's role
travelerF150 replied to Good Ole SC Boy's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I think Robert Duval would have made a good uncle Jesse, but Willie's pretty good too. -
I think people need to get it in their heads that this is not another reunion movie. It's a fresh new take on the story. For one thing, in the movie the Duke family are still running moonshine. This isn't a carbon copy of the t.v. show like so many other movies. I'm glad they're not doing it like Starsky and Hutch but I'm also glad that they're making it a little more grittier than the t.v. show. As for the original cast not being in the movie I think it's a good thing. If they're not going to have a major role in the movie than why would they want to be in it? Just so people can look and say "wow they look older". I think the classy thing for them to do is not be in it.

Last night at a friend of mines house, she showed me a website from a auto body and graphic design shop in Phenoix, AZ. I guess it's a pretty well known one because they created the cars for I-Robot, Demolition Man and some other movie I've never heard of. On the site they talked about how they were contracted by Warner Bros. to design a "more contemporary" General Lee for the movie. They actually built three of them and I guess Warner Bros. were actually seriously considering using their version but a few months before they started filming they changed their minds and decided to stick with the real General. It doesn't say why but one can only guess they didn't want to risk a backlash form the fans of the show (Maybe they've checked out this website for the past couple months?). Anyways the car they designed was still a 69 Dodge Charger R/T, except one of the cars was a 68. I could tell by the tail lights. It was still the same color orange and had the 01 in black outlined in white on the doors but that's where the similarities ended. The rims where 18 inch perelli racing rims that actually are cool rims but not on my favorite car. The tires were low profile too. Don't get me wrong it wasn't "getto fabulous" but it still had a street racer look to it (maybe they designed it when they had the guy from Fast and the Furious pegged for Bo?). The grill guard was chrome and the roll cage inside was orange like the car. The interior was decked out too with chrom gauges and stuff and it had and all black interior. But to top it all off (here's the kicker) instead of the flag on the top they had another 01 painted same as the one's on the doors. They said it was to make the car have more of a "Nascar feel". It still said General Lee on the roof but it was written in black. It really made me realize what the flag added to the car. With out it, it kinda looks like something outta Holloween, too much orange and black. Needless to say the execs at Warner Bros. made the right decsion ( I think anyways.... you all are free to disagree), to keep the car the same. I tried finding the website tonight to post it on here but so far Google has turned up nothing, and I don't have much more time to look for it cause I'm going out but as soon as I do I'll post it on here.

I've gotta say that after reading the article about the new movie on MTV's website and seeing the pics from the set, I'm pretty excited about it. I'm glad that they're not trying to make a carbon copy of the T.V. show but they're still trying to capture the spirt of it. I agree with Knoxville when he said that John and Tom would always be the real Bo and Luke. I would've liked to see some pics of Boss and Uncle Jesse but I guess they're keeping them under wraps. The new roscoe does look different and they said he's not gonna have his trademark laugh, which is alright cause nobody can really do it well except Mr. Best (Although Bo Jackson does a pretty good imitation....I'm serious!). But for the rest of what I read I'm glad they're taking a little, I mean little, more serious tone with the movie. No matter what the movie will never be as good as the show but a frest take on the plot I think will be fun to see and will do the best to expose a whole new generation to the show. Who know's... maybe it will lead to a new series on the WB? I know that would be a better idea than some of the series' they have running on there now. Anyone agree?
-
I think Jeff Foxworthy would've been a good roscoe too. I think Larry the Cable Guy would make a good Cledus.

Well put GADuke

I heard it was only gonna be on in Canada. I hope they start playing it in the states. I agree. Having the show back on the air will do wonders for the movie as well as the possibility of new merchandise, like hopfully seasons 3 and 4 on DVD.

I agree 100%. Nobody here knows what it's like to ba a celebrity the calibre of Jessica Simpson and until you live a day in her shoes with the constant screaming and people calling you a b**ch because you can't possibly sign every autograph and maybe would like a couple hours of sleep, you should pipe down. She's here to film a movie, not sign autographs, take pictures or be tormented. Let the cast do their job, and let the people of this aren try and live their lives for these next few weeks

There's a link on this forum to pictures of what the police cars look like. They're late 80's model Caprice Classics. They are older but they are different from the cars used in the show. Pretty much every car in the movie looks different except the general which is a good thing since the movie takes place during present times. If they didn't change the police cars I think it would be beyond cheesy. Not to mention that there isn't a police department in the country that still uses those old plymoth reliants that the show did, but you still see some caprice classics still being used.

P.S. Forgot to mention that the show also said Jessica was contracted to do a sequel if the first movie is successful.
