I would love to see Denny Hamlin. I stated that before in a post..... Would like to see #29 - Kevin Harvick or # 8 - Dale Jr. take it also..... Anybody BUT # 48 or # 24....Something about those 2 that rubs me the wwrong way as a fan. They are great drviers , no denying that, but personality wise I can't stand them. And NASCRAP is all about personaltiy... I'm gone Darrell

Been a while since anyone posted aabout the NASCRAP season... My favorite driver didn't make the so-called chase. Tony had good year and hopefully win a race or two in the last 10... Anyway I would love see Kevin Harvick win it all. Put the Goodwrench Chevy back in a championship . RCR is back . If he doesn't win Denny Hamlin would be great to see with Mark Martin as my always sentimental favorite... I'm gone Darrell

Chad See again it falls back to the 05 movie. Where have I brought the 05 movie into the Direct-to-DVD topic? I have posted nothing positive about this new one, mostly sarcastic remarks about it being a "low budget" or straight-to-DVD. No pre-conceieved ideas.... As far as the 05 movie. I take it as a different version, same characters(different ideas of them though), storylines same and yet different(General Lee, characters, etc). The "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality doesn't cut it . It happens all the time iwth tried and true tested shows, cars, music- the list can go on forever. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it has mixed results , which is where I put the Dukes. It DID help all around with the promotion of the series and the release of the season DVD sets. The synergy that was built between the promotion of the movie and the CMT run and the release of the DVD sets was nothing but great marketing. It brought people that never really watched the series to tune in after seeing the movie and let them judge for themselves . You can't buy that kind of cross promotion. I am the biggest and most out spoken one when it comes to tradition ( Check out my NASCRAP thread and on other racin' boards) . I really don't like change like that. When it comes to Skynyrd I love the post RVZ era ( which is like a civil war in Skynyrd ville).Yet the 05 Dukes movie I liked. I have never said that anybody had to like it, but to continuously bash it and rehash it in every thread is just way too much as what Tim has been doing..... AS far as the Direct-to-DVD movie. I will wait and see when it comes out. From what you memtioned here and on other boards, the old stunt footage might seem dated and kind of cheesy looking unless some film and video cleanup and editing is top notch. But considering the budget and time frame I doubt it. Although it is great that the original stunt will get credit.....Wonder how much they paid Gy Waldron this time? Chad This "debate" isn't about the 05 movie. It WAS about the Direct-To-DVD movie, its casting, producer, etc.( which I have no interest in til I see it when it comes out) It always seems to come back to the 05 movie somehow and for not being a "true" Dukes fan and such....Can't do anything about that. As far as the 05 movie , you know my feelings (which are the total opposite of some "true" Dukes fans ). As you know I grew up with the Dukes from it's beginnings to it's TNN run to it's current CMT run. AS I have always said "Nothing will ever beat the original series". BUT I did enjoy the 05 movie. I see you most of the other boards - CGLFC, Jon Holland....I am a member of most of them , but don't post much. No need to post my same opinions all over the place and get bashed. You're joking , right? General Lee = Superhero? I guess each to their own. How do you know what fans will buy? You only know what YOU will buy or NOT buy. Maybe I should do what others do like on the CGLFC board do and just basically ignore you since you basically have nothing relevant to say. And YES , I did like the way they did the conversion of the GL in the 05 movie. Only if they would showed the complete scene with the reenactors fixing it up instead of putting in the extras... They never did show or say the "origin" of the GL in the movie , just the fixing up and painting of it to the more famous version if you want to get technical about it. But that would not make a "true" Dukes fan because I liked it. You want to talk about something more relevant, let's tal kabout KISS and your views on them NOW in their current incarnation. I want to see where you stand on that since you are a so-called KISS fan.. I'm gone Darrell

Tim Suderow .. Who gives a rat's tail that you built a GL replica. What does that have to do with anything anyway? just showing off that you have one Tim? Mine is bigger than yours kind of thing? Who cares that they established the origin of the GL in an episode? This isn't about the series. WB and the people making the film can do hatever they want .What the hell does that have to do with me being a TRUE Dukes fan? ...I seem to get that since I enjoyed the movie more than most anyway .You know what I say about that anyway. The series and the movie franchise are two different entities. Just like the Batman franchise with the original 50's show then the Adam West version then the Tim Burton movies to the Joel Schumacher ones to the more recent with animated ones thrown in. Hey tim Now you are twisting it into your own personal views with the straight-to DVD movie. There are enough of those already and are mostly by you anyway. WB can do whatever they want and promote it however they see fit. So they used an extra phot from and the original movie and imposed the new cast on it . So what. it's dang conspiricy ...LOL... Have you seen the new movie yet? NO ..You are basing everything on your "reliable" sources. You know YOUR preconceieved notions that it will "ruin" the franchise. Most likely the movie will not be good since it is a low budget straight-to-DVD release. Then again maybe it will be OK. We shall see when the movie comes to DVD. Take it for it is. I got it for Father's Day last sunday. Smokey & The Bandit - Special Edition.. Let me just say they did an awesoem job on the sound , putting this in 5:1 surround. The sound and music is awesome now The picture and colars are a lot brighter now. They really cleaned up the transfrer for the this DVD. It doesn't seem that this movie is almost 30 years old now. The extras are decent. It is decent seeing Burt and Hal Needham reminisce about making the movie. There are even a few old interviews with Jackie Gleason. It was great seeing Paul Williams talk about it too. BUT where was Sally Field and Jerry Reed. Those 2 needed to be interviewed as they much apart of the film as the others. Maybe the "making of" could have been more like the Dukes BBQ on the season 1 DVD set. Have everyone together talking about the movie. Overall it is worth it just to see the new transfer in 5:1 surround sound. Maybe they could have included some other extras like different stunts that didn't make it in the movie or maybe line flubs or some scenes that didn't make it in the movie..... I'm gone Darrell

travelerF150 ..... I could not agree with you more. I have been preaching that since the movie came out last year. But to some people you are NOT a TRUE Dukes fan if you liked the movie. I say BS to that . All the nitpickin' and bellyachin' and how the movie was not like the series, blah blah blah was all that was heard for a long time. Now this prequel is being made and all heck is starting up again. Now the same nitpickin' and bellyachin' is just getting going. Oh well they are not going to please everyone. As far as the flag, if this is a prequel to the MOVIE then the general had no flag when they first got it. Thats is what I am guessing why there is no flag on it as has been spread over the interent. Pulled out a CD I haven't heard in years ( I have way too many everywhere in the house ) ... The Four Horsemen - Nobody Said It Was Easy- a rock band with a bit of a Southern feel to them. 1. Moonshine - great song about 'shine 2. I Need A Thrill/Something Good - great driving song , definately reminds me of the movie driving scenes I'm gone Darrell
