  1. Hey Lori!

You are SO smart! I'm impressed! You have been so much help, I can't thank you enough! :p

Champ is actually a pony. I'm not sure of his weight right now, I'll have to check it sometime. I know that he is underweight for my liking.

My heart really goes out to you. That must be so hard having to see your horses on the bus everyday. I mean, it's probably great seeing them, but I bet you miss running out in the field and saying "Hi" to them. You are a tough gal! How are your other two horses (was it Trigger and someone else?) at your place doing? I'm so thankful that you were able to keep two of them, I'm sure that comforts you a little.

  2. Hey Everyone!

Wow! Everyone certainly has a lot to say about this. As, I can definately understand.

Here's my viewpoint: It doesn't matter how many grams someone has, it is still wrong. I'm not judging him, I'm just trying to say that I don't know if I would try to make a wrong less of a deal based on how many grams he had. You can slam someone's finger in the door, or you can still slam there whole hand in the door-you still did wrong and they are still going to be in pain. :p Okay, maybe that was a weird example, but hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to say.

I think it's neat how everyone can have a different viewpoint and everyone, for the most part, is so understanding. Keep it up! ;)

I am disapointed in Tom for doing this, he shouldn't have done it. I would be just as upset if he was in my family. I don't think excuses should be made. But, if he is going through a tough time in his life, the press is kind of making things harder. But, that is the life you lead when you become famous, and the press is only doing there job.

    Have a great day everyone!

  3. Hi Lori!

Thanks for getting back to me, I had a hard time finding the thread, I wasn't quite sure where it was written! :-P Thanks for waiting!

I'm glad to hear that you still visit your mare, that's great. Does she nicker at you when you go and visit? I bet that you bring her a treat when you go over there, right?

About Champ. I have offered him hay, but he's kind of picky and he won't usually eat hay until there is snow on the ground. :p I also feed him two times a day, but I'm thinking I may have to go back to three times a day. We added some Weight Builder to his diet yesterday, so I'm going to see how that works for him. We did test all the horses manure at the vet's lab, and they gave the horses a clean bill of health, there are now parasites I guess. It's just really weird. Cherokee and Champ both had diarhea, and I've been having it at about the same time as they are. The horses and myself have lost weight, but yet everyone else at my place (including horses and people) are perfectly healthy. You would think if it was something catchy that someone else would have picked it up after two months or so. It's just really mind boggling. Okay, probably more than you wanted to know, right? :-P I may just have to put Champ out in our hay field everyday for a half an hour or so.

    How are your horses doing?

    Talk to you later!

  4. Hi Everyone!

Well, once again, it's always nice to hear the different opinions of everyone else, it helps because it's more balanced and then I can make up my own mind for where I stand. Thanks everyone!

I think that there is absolutely no problem with Kay writing and telling us her opinion, afterall, we are all here to state our opinions with the understanding that everyone else will not judge us and will respect our different viewpoints. That is the whole reason I joined this site, because everyone is so friendly and understanding. So, Kay, please, feel free to tell us how you feel, just like everyone else on here should feel comfortable to say how they feel without being yelled at or intimidated.

As for me, I'm still not sure what to think about this whole Tom Wopat thing. I'm still deciding! :-P

But, like I said, I think that everyone should handle themselves with class, even if others have different viewpoints. I was pleased with just about everything everyone said. DaisyMae-you are wonderful! :p That was so well put, as well as Kay expressing how she felt.

  5. kit,

That's a great question. And, I can understand how you would think that to be unfair. Now, I hope that someone will kindly correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that the reason that some people have grey lights is because nobody commented on posts that they wrote on. Now, if someone has a post that they like, they can add to their reputation, and I believe that turns the lights green. Am I correct on that everybody? Hopefully that makes some sense, kit. If not, somebody else might be better at handling this question.

    Thanks,

    Laura Duke:)

By the way, how did this go from a post on reputation to a post about cheese cake? What is with everything lately about cheese cake?

  6. Lori: I'm at least a little happier that you were able to sell them to your neighbor, someone that you know. But, being they are your neighbors, it's probably kind of hard to see them at someone else's house everyday. Do you go and visit them, or do you try to stay away? Again, this is NOT your fault. I know you, and because you had to sell, you sold them to someone who woud care and love these animals. Plus, you are right there if they have questions.

Also, this one is for everyone! For all you horse nuts out there, I have another question. I have a 30-some year old pony of the America's-he's a paint. Lately, he has a hearty appetite, which is great. But, while the rest of our horses are fat, he is way too skinny. I feed him two different feeds: our co-op makes feed with corn, oats, and equi-shine. Then I also feed a senior pelleted feed. He has been having diarrhea, and we brought in a mixture of all the horses manure to be tested, and the vets said that they couldn't find any parasites. But, winter is starting to set in and I really need to get some weight on him really quickly. Does anyone have some suggestions on a product that works for them?

    Thanks everyone! :)

  7. Hi Everyone!

Sorry, this was supposed to be a thread about horses as hobbies and I've kind of slanted this into something else. But, thank you everyone for all the help you've been. I hope you don't mind if I continue this topic a little more, but if someone has something exciting to share about their horse, please feel free to insert it. :p

Lori: I'm so sorry you had to sell your horses because of the economic situation. But, as hard as that is, please DO NOT blame yourself. I've, thankfully, never had to sell a horse, and I can't imagine how painful it must be. And, I would probably want to blame myself to, but you can't do that. Even if you did try to keep them through the winter, suppose you couldn't feed them? Knowing you, I'm sure that you sold them to someone you thought would take really good care of them. Did you sell them to someone you know? I'm so happy for you, though, that you were able to keep some of your horses, hopefully that fills some of the gaps in your heart for the horses that you had to sell. My heart really goes out to you!

Okay, so you think that we should let her keep all of Cherokee's tack? Even the saddle? I can definately understand things like her brushes and stuff, but it would be nice to sell a perfectly good saddle and make some money on it. Okay, that kind of sounded mean, but I'm not trying to sound that way at all. Hopefully you guys know that!

DukesFan_08: Only 10 years old?!? That horse was so young! And, I'm sorry it had to go like that-by a broken leg. I just can't imagine....I really am sorry for you having to go through that. What a shame.

You know....it seems like everyone heals a little better when they have another horse around them to take care of, which makes sense. And, no, I don't think that it sounds goofy that you kind of dedicate the day he passed away each year. I think that is so sweet of you. You obviously have a huge heart for horses. I think that is so neat. Maybe you could add to that (not to sound bossy or anything)? Instead of dedicating a day to him just for mourning, if you know his birthday, you could get some special little treats and think of him on his birthday, kind of laugh about all the funny things he did when he was around. Or, maybe that isn't a good idea for you, I'm not sure....just a thought. ;)

Okay, well, again, I can't thank the both of you enough for everything you have suggested and told me. It's kind of weird how all this stuff happened to us, and yet we kind of our comforting one another, I think that's kind of neat.

Well, have a great rest of the day!

    Laura Duke:D

  8. Lori: Thanks so much for replying! You have such a way with words. Yes, we did bury our horse (it was Cherokee-she's a black mare) on our property.

Oh, Lori, I'm so sorry to hear that you decided to sell your horses. That must be so hard to go through now. Oh, my, I'm sorry to hear that you fell, but thank heavens you didn't get hurt worse than that! Can I ask what you decided to keep the horse that bucked you off and sold the other horses instead of selling Trigger?

Here's the thing though, I know that it is exremely hard to get over this, I'm sure. But, my Mom has no excitement to go out to the barn anymore. She just cries, and even having her other horse, Magoo around doesn't seem to comfort her. Do you have a suggestion as to how I might help her get through this? Do we sell some of Cherokee's things-like her saddle? Do we just pack them away until my Mom is ready to deal with this? If anyone has ANY ideas, I would so much appreciate them.

DukesFan_08: I didn't know that you lost a horse, either. May I ask how old the horse was? I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, that must have been one of the hardest things that you ever had to go through. I have a paint pony, and he's the first horse I've ever had-I've had him for 12 years, and I just couldn't imagine life without him! May I ask you if there was something that helped you get through the loss of your precious horse? I'm really trying to be there for my Mom, so any ideas would greatly help!

I hope that I can show sometime, too!

    Thanks Everyone!

    Laura Duke:D

  9. Hi Everyone! I have some questions/comments for everyone, so I'll just go down the line! :-P

DixieRose_00: How is the horse situation going on? I know that your horse passed away last December. How are you doing, is the pain of it starting to go away? How old was your horse? Did you get another one?

My Mom's horse passed away 2 weeks ago yesterday (Saturday). You really don't know how hard it is until you experience this yourself (or through someone that you know well). My Mom is really having a tough time with this. How did you get past the loss of your horse? Did you do a ceremony or something? Any help would be appreciated!

daisydukeXenosstrait: Congratulations on getting some horses of your own! How are they coming along? Have you been working with them? What have you accomplished? Even though it's only been a month or so, I bet that they are growing so fast!

Lori: How are your horses doing? Hopefully they are happy, healthy, and you are having a wonderful time with them!

DukesFan_08: Hats off to you! I think that's great that you are in 4-H and you do competitions with your horses. I hope that you have done well with showing this year! Showing is something I've always wanted to do, but have just never done it yet! But, it's just fun having them around.

Talk to all of you soon!

    Laura Duke:D

  10. MaryAnne, you just gave Laura a positive reputation?!?

Aren't you hurting your good reputation by fibbing like that?

    (Just kidding Laura.....khee, khee!!)

Roger.... Is that one of your WWJD-What would Jesse Do? :-P But, you got me on that one!

    Laura Duke:D

  11. MaryAnne,

Thanks for getting back to me. I did look at the forum about "Reputation" Thanks, it did answer some of my questions. The only part that I couldn't get was how to view what people wrote about as far as a reputation on your posts, and which posts they commented on. Do you think you could help me out with that?

    Thanks,

    Laura:lol:

  12. Roger- I LOVE that hat! Where can I find one like that? I guess I'm going to have to go back to calling you Uncle Jesse, huh? :p That's fine with me, we need more of those kinds of people!

Dodge-Yeah! I'm so happy that you figured out how to put up an avatar, and it looks great!

arty-You took that picture? I love it! And, that's cool that it's at a local beehive. It's a great picture! You should get it enlarged and hang it!

    Laura Duke :D

  13. Hi DixieRoss,

Thanks for your help. And yes, you did answer some of my questions! You're great!

But, there are still some that I'm not sure of. So, if someone comes along, would you be kind enough to answer the rest of them?

Thanks. And all of you-have a wonderful weekend!

    Laura Duke:p

  14. Aww....Everyone always knows just what to say to put a smile on my face! :p

lost_sheep3: It sounds like you fell in love with the Dukes for all the right reasons-it was a wonderful family show. I was really sorry to hear that there were tough times, like your Dad passing away. But, I think it's amazing how even though you went through all the hard stuff, you still kept a positive spin and said that you have met new friends. I think that is just so inspiring.

Roger: I couldn't agree with you more! Everyone on here is just awesome to be around! You're right, the moderators are wonderful to have had the dream of getting fellow Dukes fans together and following that dream. It's amazing! But, we are also lucky that you finally sat down and conquered the quest of figuring out, as you always say, the darn contraption! :p I for one can say that it's been wonderful getting to meet such wonderful, insightful people like you.

General Grant: Well, what can I say about you? You are such a life of the party, on every post you always throw in your touch of humor to make me laugh, but yet, you add so much class, that you sometimes make me get allergies! :p I've enjoyed all your wonderful posts!

Lori: Hats off to you! I always enjoyed being around you and consider you such a friend. But, my respect for you has grown so much since you started this thread. You have such an amazing gift of writing, and to use it in this way, I'm really proud of you! Thanks so much for starting this thread. And, I'm lucky that I found someone as kind as you on this site!

    Laura Duke:p

  15. Okay, I have a couple of questions for someone to answer for me, because it has been stumping/bugging me for a while:

    * Why are there green lights (on a distinguished road/unknown quantity) and red lights (can only hope to improve)? How do you get those lights, and if a red light, how can you make it a green light?

    * On the top right of a post, there is a picture of an (I forget the name, so I'm going to call it a "justice scale") icon that when you click it, you can talk about their reputation. What does that do? Also, do you get a "reputation point" for each person who compliments a post? Is there a way that you can view who/why a person gave you a reputation point and on which post/s you received the point for?

    * Also on the upper right portion of the post is a warning symbol. What is that for?

Sorry for all the questions, but you would really be helping me out if someone explained all of that to me!

    Thanks,

    Laura:D

  16. Hey Lori,

Congrats on the great result on your paper-I think that you deserved it! :) Like I said before, it's an awesome paper! And, if you can get both Roger and General to applaud you, as well as make Roger misty-eyed (from allergies), I say that you've done an awesome paper! 8-)

I still remember getting the Dukes of Hazzard as a birthday gift almost 3 years ago. I actually (and it's hard to believe now) got it as a joke gift. A friend of mine was on vacation and watching the Dukes for the first time, and they caught the ending-about 10 minutes of watching the show, and my friend thought it was just an obnoxious show! (How wrong she was!) When she tried explaining the show to me, I just couldn't understand what she was talking about. So, on my birthday, she gave me the 1st season of the Dukes of Hazzard-a show I've never heard about until that moment I opened the gift. Well, when we sat down to watch the show-I was completely embarrassed. A girl sitting on her cousin's lap saying things like:

"If we weren't cousins, I'd marry you"

"Well that never stopped anybody in this family before"

The first few shows went on like that, and I had a really tough time watching it. But, I didn't want to hurt my friend's feelings and return the show, so I kept watching.

But, the more I watched, the more they toned down the show, and the more I watched, the more I enjoyed it. By the end of the 1st season, I was ready for more, and I just fell in love with it.

When I finally finished all 7 seasons, I still wasn't satisfied, I wanted more info on the Dukes. So, I went online trying to find some really cool sites. One of the sites I found was HazzardNet. I would read posts, and this site was awesome! This, in general, was the family site I was looking for, and the people on here seemed to genuinely care about the Dukes, as well as the people on this site. And the rest is history, I signed up and have just fell in love with the Dukes, and the fans!

    Well, that's my story......

    Laura Duke:D

  17. Hey Everyone,

First off....it's great to see you around Redneck, Lori, and Garrett! :)

Redneck, I have to say, you always put threads up that are very thought-provoking. I don't think that what you wrote was wrong at all-nor do I think that anyone is offended with anyone else. This was just a great idea on getting others to write down what they think, so that others can listen to both sides and make up their own minds.

I am happy that the world didn't end today! :D I guess that they called that one wrong, happily!

Okay, that's all I wanted to say. Everyone have a great rest of the day!

    Laura Duke:D

  18. Hey Val,

You know, that's a really great question! I have not personally done any showing with cows, but I have seen some 4-H shows at the fair and it's kind of fun to watch.

I take it that you show steers? I don't know a whole lot about the matter, but I always kind of wanted to learn more about this! I bet that it's a lot of fun to show! As for making money off of it, it seems like if you're a 4-H member, there are some really generous folks who will pay top dollar when you market the winning cow, but I could be wrong on that!

    Laura Duke:D

  19. Hi natey57!

First off, like RogerDuke said, welcome to HazzardNet! I'm glad that you found this site, and I hope that you continue to stay here and share some wonderful memories the Dukes of Hazzard has given you.

Secondly, what a cool bike! Did you add all the custom features yourself? That is one sharp looking bike, I wish I was in the market to buy it! I would have a hard time selling it!

    Again, welcome!

    Laura Duke:D

  20. Hey Dodge!

Welcome to HazzardNet! This is a wonderful place to talk about the Dukes of Hazzard! You know, if you love the Dodge Charger, there's a thread on here by a guy that is taking a '69 Dodge Charger and converting it to the General Lee-check it out!

Again, welcome, I hope you enjoy this place! And look out for RogerDuke! :p

    Laura Duke:D

  21. Well, here I am...late. You can always count on me to be late! :-P But, I still wanted to come and sing happy birthday!

    Happy Birthday to you!

    Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday dear Ben and Cooter!

    Happy Birthday to you!

...And I know you'll have many more!

By the way Roger, did you start reading his book? How is it?

    Laura Duke:D
