That sucks about the cable company. What in the world are they thinking. Those are probably two of the most watched channels too. Surely they are getting some complaints. I guess it's good that your dad is checking into a different cable company. If that happens to me I think I will just be out of luck. The cable company I have is contracted through the apartment complex. I will keep my fingers crossed for you though.
