I see what you mean about the pits. It does seem like they are getting more dangerous. But I'm not sure what can be done about it. Some of these pit lanes are so small that it doesn't look like the car will even fit in the stall. At least now the pit crew has to wear the firesuit and a helmut to go over the wall. The only thing is for drivers and crew alike to be very alert to their surroundings I guess. And sometimes there is so much going on at once and so quickly that I don't know how they manage to enter/exit safely. In my opinion, the pit crew's job is just as dangerous if not more so than the drivers. At least the cars have roll cages and all of the other safety features now whereas the pit crew has a helmut and fire suit. It must take a lot of guts to jump out in front of a moving car so you can change a tire or whatever. Scary. Yes the car is going slower with pit speeds and everything, but steel vs flesh... Steel will win. I know most of these are just accidents, I'm sure the drivers don't want to hurt anyone. But what can be done? Fines? Drive thru penalty? And is it fair to do that if it is an accident, wrong place at the wrong time? Or do they just consider that part of racing? I really just don't know. Or maybe it's the medicene that's talking. lol
