I figured out of the "rookie" Indycar class this year Romain would be the one that would acclimate the best. I would not be surprised to see him win at least once before the season is over.
At Dover it was a Hendrick Motorsports smackdown. Kyle Larson dominated winning both the stages however it was his teammate Alex Bowman in the 48 who would lead the team to a 1,2,3,4 finish.
Top 10
1 Alex Bowman
2 Kyle Larson
3 Chase Elliot
4 William Byron
5 Joey Logano
6 Kevin Harvick
7 Denny Hamlin
8 Tyler Reddick
9 Daniel Suarez
10 Cole Custer

RogerDuke got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Q & A of NASCAR
Well Garrett, so far you're the only expert we got. I shouldn't use the word "only" because you're so good you're really all we need.
This is just a suggestion. Let me know what you think. Unlike the other trivia forum where an expert asks a question and people answer, I think on this one, people should ask questions and the expert should answer.
Here's the first question. Why does no NASCAR driver have number 01?....those drivers all love the Dukes of Hazzard. You'd think they'd be fighting for that number.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Billie Rae in Cancel Culture is coming for the Dukes...
This cultural change has been coming at a pretty rapid rate. I don't know what the future holds. All cultures evolve. Nothing stays the same in any culture but this one is especially troubling to me. Maybe it's always been this way. Maybe I'm just entering a stage of my life where I start to become a grumpy old man. Either that or cancel culture is run by a bunch of crazies.
HMM, THAT SOUNDS MORE LIKE IT.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Philip_Duke in Cancel Culture is coming for the Dukes...
The day is coming where owning a Dukes DVD will be a criminal offense. I know that sounds crazy but think about it. This is a trend we're seeing. Something in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another force. There is no force powerful enough to stop this trend. This political correct insanity cannot be put back in the bottle. America has spoken. The voters decided to vote liberals in and they now control everything. This will not end well for people like us.

Things have finally settled down to the new normal around here. It really was crazy for awhile. My mother-in- law was a great person and I will miss her. I'll catch up on posts tomorrow. I hope everybody had a good weekend.

Yesterday was fun... Trailing arm snapped while the wife was out running errands leaving her stranded. She called a friend who has AAA so it could at least get towed back home. Dispatcher goofed up the address and sent the driver to the wrong place. After 90 minutes my wife called AAA again asking where the tow truck was and was told "nobody was there" to which my wife replied I've been stranded here for the past 2 hours I haven't gone anywhere and was told it would be about 6:30 till another truck could be dispatched to her. She found a number to the tow company our mechanic gave us and called that and he was there within half an hour and towed it to the mechanics. I don't know if AAA is short handed or what but with service like that I'm glad I didn't waste money on a membership this year.

I see that Romain Grosjean took his first IndyCar pole at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis this weekend and ended up finishing second. He's due to make a one-off return to F1 with a demonstration run at the French Grand Prix next month.

When Bo and Luke find out about this, Uncle Jesse is never going to be able to get them off the couch to do chores.....especially if Cale Yarborough is in the lead.

It's going to be pretty crazy around here the next 3 days with relatives in our home, calling hours and the funeral. I probably won't be on HN again until the storm is over.

Thanks for the update Garrett.
You're right, I'm happy about Kurt and his Charger.
Jimmie makes me nervous though. He might not be in the top 10 but he's still the one who makes the leaders look over their shoulders in fear.
Don't forget that last year he didn't start off that well.
(Not that a NASCAR expert like Garrett would forget that)

Congratulations TRPColtrane!!!
Well, Garrett, at least the Chicago Bears have won 5 in the row and the Chicago Blackhawks are in first place so you have something to look forward to even though you don't think they're as exciting as NASCAR.

it's been crazy around here with funeral planning and taking care of my wife who is in a sling and taking care of this new puppy. I gotta get the yard mowed today though.....it looks like we're finally going to have a day where the sun shines all day.

Thanks for your sympathy. You have mine too. I still have my parents but neither are doing well. My wife's dad is in pretty good shape though.

Sorry about your losses Roger and Hobie.
Friday I felt like Al Bundy , even though there was blue sky above me I got drenched from off and on rain showers in the afternoon while mowing. Thought to myself 'is there a rain cloud just following me around' .

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Roger, and especially considering the day. Mother's Day was in mid-March over here, so I didn't know that yours was today.

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Daisy's Plymouth -- WIP
A much larger problem arose; actually two related problems.
1) The suspension and exhaust system is all molded as one piece, looking toylike
2) The rear suspension needs to be boosted to accomodate larger rear tires. This will necessitate the total rebuilding of the aft ends of the leaf springs.
First, separating the exhausts:
Then, adding to the chassis frame to accomodate the extended rear suspension....
Also found the new engine was too short for the driveshaft; so the driveshaft had to be lengthened by 3mm. Amazingly, the left exhaust also had to be shortened by the exact same length to fit the new engine.

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Daisy's Plymouth -- WIP
The new engine arrived Friday; smaller-block engine from AMT's 71 Duster, will be heavily detailed and wired. Still needed modifications to the front area with making an attached alternator and other mounts for the pulleys. Also drilled out holes for the spark plugs and wires (very time consuming on a tiny distributor).
Also modified the engine mounts so it could accomodate the smaller engine block. Not a perfect fit, but it's better.
