RogerDuke reacted to HossC in Gilligan's Island(1964-1967)
I shouldn't have been surprised that Weird Al included Gilligan's Island theme lyrics in a song - seven years earlier he parodied Tone-Loc's 'Wild Thing' with a song about the show called 'Isle Thing'.

If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have understood this joke that I saw earlier. I assume there's room for five passengers!

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Hazzard Fleet (So Far)
Hey folks,
Had a few requests here and elsewhere to see the entire lineup (so far) of my Hazzard County fleet which has been under construction for the past 6 years.
None of these are out-of-the-box, each taking a huge investment of time, research and effort. Greatest challenges were in the tow truck.
Next project is already in the research and materials-gathering stage.
Hope you enjoy!

Nascar Cup series returned to Road America for the first time since 1956. Chase Elliot won holding off hard charging Gibbs teammates, giving Hendrick Motorsports it's 10th win of the season. I still think they should have kept Daytona on the July 4th weekend.
Top 10
1 Chase Elliot
2 Christopher Bell
3 Kyle Busch
4 Kurt Busch
5 Denny Hamlin
6 Chase Briscoe
7 Ross Chastain
8 Tyler Reddick
9 Martin Truex jr
10 Matt Dibenedetto
Kurt Busch already had talks with Trackhouse Racing so he's rumored to be the top candidate to drive the 2nd car when they take over Ganassi's Nascar teams at the end of the season.

RogerDuke reacted to Spike in SRX Series
SRX Series was back on asphalt this week at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana. SRX had a little fun with Paul Tracy by having him show up in the back of a police car for security . Scott Speed dominated the 1st heat race leading all the laps and winning. Helio Castroneves won the 2nd heat race after passing Paul Tracy on the 5th lap. Ernie Francis Jr won the Main Feature Race leading all but 11 or 21 laps, typo on SRX website not sure which number is correct.
Main Feature Race Results
1 Ernie Francis Jr
2 Bobby Labonte
3 Scott Speed
4 Marco Andretti
5 Bobby Santos
6 Michael Waltrip
7 Tony Stewart
8 Paul Tracy
9 Helio Castroneves
10 Tony Kanaan
11 Willy T Ribbs
12 Bill Elliot

Finally got some sleep last night, only a few fireworks were shot off nearby. At least it was nothing like this...
this happened on the other side of town. And people wonder why I say don't move to Toledo. To top it off Ohio legislators just legalized fireworks though the governor has yet to sign the bill.
Had a busy weekend myself. Was planning on relaxing and watching all the races on NBC but ended up only watching the last half of the Cup race Sunday afternoon. Laid a second coat of paint on a lady's patio Saturday after the local home depot worker snookered her and said she needed a 2nd coat even though on the can it says one coat paint. She really only needed a small can of touch up paint to touch up a few little spots where the wind blew a few leaves on after I laid down the first coat a few weeks ago.
Sunday I "helped" (did all the work) my dad with patching the concrete wall by the steps leading to the basement outside door. Not sure which Home store he went to but a goofball worker strikes again, sold him a 50lbs bag of fence post concrete. I didn't feel like going back to the store and getting the correct stuff so I made do, if it holds up good if not I don't care. I only ended up using a few inches of the bag to patch all the areas so a 10lbs or smaller bag would have worked. Wife was real happy about that because I ruined her Sunday plans to hang out with some of her family. I'm getting real sick of every time my uncle mentions this or that needs to be taken care of at my dad's house then my dad whining/harassing me till I do it instead of him doing it himself which he is entirely capable of doing.

Count me in Hobie. You always do the Buttermilk 5.00 every year around my barn and the least I can do to return the favor and race in the Moonshine 400.....although it isn't quite as fun as when that Popcorn Sutton feller used to be in it.

Gonna have to pick your chin up off the floor after reading this...Chip Ganassi is leaving Nascar and sold team charters to Trackhouse Racing https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2021/06/30/trackhouse-purchases-chip-ganassi-racing-nascar-operation/
Trackhouse will run two cars next year one driven by current driver Daniel Suarez and the 2nd driver tba. Ross Chastain will probably be the 2nd driver though.

RogerDuke reacted to Hobie Hartkins in Friday Night In Hazzard
Well guys....looks like it's Friday night.....and I DO have to work tomorrow but it won't be THAT bad, I hope. But tonight, it's Friday night and just like in '79-'85....it's Friday....the official DOH Day of the week. In here, every day is sunny, ( ever notice how it hardly ever rained in Hazzard but they were able to farm? LOL!) and is a Friday or Friday night......and everybody knows everybody else and even " Enemies" ( notice the quotes) don't really HATE on each other! This and many other reasons, ( there are problems but they all get solved and there's a happy ending!), are why I love Hazzard and will live here until I am buried in Boss's cemetary ( Hoss.....what was the name? ...can't remember..... Hogg's Heavenly Acres?? ......it's on the opposite side of the county from my car lot and I never get over there! I live in the building I work at. It saves me from drinking and driving. I save that for The Moonshine 400, which is coming up later this summer! You guys be getting ready for it or if you want to qualify, to race yourself, you better let me know!

RogerDuke got a reaction from Hobie Hartkins in Luke Duke Arrested!
This makes no sense to me. All that practice he had jumping over creeks and he can't get away from the cops. Sure, Bo was at the wheel a lot but Luke jumped too. I'm starting to suspect stunt men were in the General Lee. If anybody finds out don't tell me. It will ruin everything.
Good to hear from you again Burl.

RogerDuke got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Dancing With The Stars
I'm much too manly to watch a show like that. I spend most of my evenings pumping iron, rebuilding engines, gutting deer and splitting firewood... But that Cheetah Girl has more moves than the General Lee twisting up Razorback Mountain with Rosco, Cletus AND Enos in hot pursuit....not that I saw it or anything, that's just what I heard.

Just for the record......I would never make fun of an Englishman.....unless he had a redneck name like Hoss.

Absolutely a perfect work of art. It is completely impossible to tell this from a real car. Usually the engine gives it away but not when you build cars. The dashboards can often show imperfections too but not when you build cars. Sit back tonight and admire it and don't be humble about it. You earned the opportunity to be proud of your work and talent. Thanks again for sharing this. We're grateful you let us be part of it.

Well, there was that terribly racist episode where they made fun of the visiting Englishman, but apparently "we all can't be perfect"!

Hey, you know, I think you're on to something there. Offendaphobic- someone who is offeneded at people being offended or someone who is scared of being offended at people being offended!
-
RogerDuke reacted to Spike in The last 24 hours
Offendaphobic that's a good one. I nominate that for a new word in the Webster's Dictionary.
CNN used to be a great news network way back in the day now it's become way too biased like Fox News.

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Daisy's '71 Plymouth Satellite -- FINISHED!
Just to remind y'all: YES, they used a '74 Roadrunner which appeared in 5 of the first 9 episodes, then beginning with episode 11 they switched to a '71 Satellite Sebring in a Roadrunner paint scheme, hoping nobody would notice (we did). Some prefer the '74; personally I prefer the '71, finding it much sleeker and meaner looking with the wraparound bumper/grill assembly.
Base kit is the Revell/Monogram '71 Plymouth GTX. Modifications include:
-Replacement hood
-Smaller-block engine (from 71 Duster)
-Completely rebuilt & boosted rear suspension
-Replacement tires
-Wheel hubs from '77 Ford van
Additionally, all GTX logos were removed (not easy on the grill); headlights made from sanded/polished acrylic gemstones; engine bay heavily wired and detailed; scratchbuilt steering wheel, CB radio and antenna; paint is Plymouth Yellow Blaze.
Build thread is here: http://hazzardnet.com/forums/topic/8786-daisys-plymouth-wip/

That is PERFECT! You can't GET any better than that! Way to go! ( I'll save you a jug of my finest, if you'll come on by the car lot!)
