RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Daisy's '71 Plymouth Satellite -- FINISHED!
Just to remind y'all: YES, they used a '74 Roadrunner which appeared in 5 of the first 9 episodes, then beginning with episode 11 they switched to a '71 Satellite Sebring in a Roadrunner paint scheme, hoping nobody would notice (we did). Some prefer the '74; personally I prefer the '71, finding it much sleeker and meaner looking with the wraparound bumper/grill assembly.
Base kit is the Revell/Monogram '71 Plymouth GTX. Modifications include:
-Replacement hood
-Smaller-block engine (from 71 Duster)
-Completely rebuilt & boosted rear suspension
-Replacement tires
-Wheel hubs from '77 Ford van
Additionally, all GTX logos were removed (not easy on the grill); headlights made from sanded/polished acrylic gemstones; engine bay heavily wired and detailed; scratchbuilt steering wheel, CB radio and antenna; paint is Plymouth Yellow Blaze.
Build thread is here: http://hazzardnet.com/forums/topic/8786-daisys-plymouth-wip/

That is PERFECT! You can't GET any better than that! Way to go! ( I'll save you a jug of my finest, if you'll come on by the car lot!)

Oh no, it sounds like you are an offendaphobic. Years of therapy and medication can fix that. The first thing you need to do is stop watching Dukes of Hazzard. According to liberals, it is the cause of all the world's problems. I saw it on CNN and they wouldn't lie.

Now for the really scary part: the pinstriping around the main stripe.
In my research, I took special notice of how they did the real one around the door handle and at the very front.
I've got plenty of straight-line fine decal striping, but the curves are a problem. Trying to paint those fine curves right alongside the large stripe AND make them look good is an awfully tall order. My experience (both successes and failures) tells me to go another route.
I decided an ususual approach: cut away the pinstriping from the decals of MPC's Daisy's car, the very-different '74 Roadrunner, and cut the curves into pieces to match each little bit of the Satellite's stripe.
Wasn't easy, nor was it fun at first, but it actually worked!

I think I forgot to mention the wheel hubs. The kit wheels are totally wrong; the good folks at the automotive modelers forum guided me toward the wheel hubs from the AMT 77 Ford van, and then one of the members was kind enough to send me a set which he was not going to use. Once primed and chromed, they were perfect! They also almost perfectly fit the aftermarket tires which I had ordered (see earlier post June 2). Absolutely perfect!
ONE FINAL DETAIL: the CB antenna. In the episode "The Meeting," there is a perfect closeup view of it, which I used as reference to scratch-build mine. Base was carved from two sections of plastic, and the aerial was made from metal guitar string (high "E").
And, God-willing, she's done! Finished pics to be posted shortly.

RogerDuke reacted to Spike in SRX Series
The SRX series was at Eldora this past Saturday night and the action was hot. Tempers flared and the cars got used up and most of them will need new body panels for the next race this Saturday night. If you missed it you can watch it here
Tony Stewart won the first heat. Marco Andretti shocked everyone winning the 2nd heat. Tony Stewart won the main Feature after passing local racer Kody Swanson and Paul Tracy who led the most laps.
Bill Elliott got a new car although they did find the gremlin in his other car from the previous two races but they wanted to give him a new one just in case any issues popped up.
This race was the most watched too date with 1.38 million viewers tuning in. It almost matched Saturday's Pocono cup race on NBCSN and beat both Xfinity and Truck series races on NBCSN and FS1 respectively.
Main Feature results
1 Tony Stewart
2 Kody Swanson
3 Helio Castroneves
4 Marco Andretti
5 Paul Tracy
6 Scott Speed
7 Tony Kanaan
8 Ernie Francis Jr
9 Willy T Ribbs
10 Michael Waltrip
11 Bobby Labonte
12 Bill Elliot

RogerDuke reacted to Spike in NASCAR news
Roush Fenway Racing allegedly told it's partners and investors that the deal with Brad Keselowski is a done deal https://www.jayski.com/2021/06/25/report-brad-keselowski-to-roush-fenway-with-ownership-role/ neither RFR, Penske Racing or Brad Keselowski has confirmed it yet though.
Nascar's uptick in tv ratings this season is over, Pocono saw the lowest viewership since races in the 2000 season.

This whole "woke" thing is getting more absurd by the day. On the local news yesterday they did a story on "weight bias". Some 400+/-lbs lady was on there saying fat jokes are offensive. Next thing you know gassy people are going to say fart jokes are offensive.

Personally speaking, I'm offended that people are offended

If you ever make it out to my direction, let me know. I can show you 3-4 General Lees!

We just got back from our daughter's in Virginia. On the Pennsylvania Turnpike on the way home I was being passed by an orange car and looked over and saw a big 01 on the door. And then I noticed it was a newer Charger with a Confederate flag on the top. You guess it. I decided to go after it.....keeping under the speed limit of course......I lost.....but still, not everybody can say they raced a General Lee. It turned on Interstate 99 and headed north toward Penn State. I think it had New York plates. I wonder if it was heading home after going to Cooter's.

I didn't blow my horn because I didn't want him to think I was doing it in protest. I wanted to catch him and give him a thumbs up but i spent all of the race in his dust.....did I mention we stayed below the speed limit? LOL

You might be surprised how many Confederate flags you see up here Hobie.....mostly in yards and front license plates. Not all of us Yankees have lost their sanity. Ray Kohn and his Northeast Ohio Dukes are from my neck of the woods.

Did it have a Dixie Horn?
You should've motioned for him to blow his horn!

I'm surprised someone from there would have a "Terrible" flag like that on their car!

Fitbits work great now that they put out a software update. Mine said I did 20,000 steps today while mowing, though that might be a bit off as no electronic pedometer will be 100% spot on.
On the way home this afternoon I took a shortcut through a nearby neighborhood thinking it would be safer than the main road after an incident I had yesterday with a jerk in a work van. It was until I came across a few hooligans recklessly riding ATV's doing donuts in the street. The one took off down a side street and the other two about ran into the side of my car as I drove past. Hooligans like this have become a problem in the inner city lately, even blocking traffic for their stupid stunts, and now it looks like they've spread out to the suburbs.
I'll never forget the motorcyclist I seen on the road with his head split open. My grandma chewed my grandpa out for taking me over to the accident scene. The cop took me over to the body and said "that's why you should wear a helmet when you ride you're bicycle." I don't remember how young I was at the time though, 6 or 7 I think.

No, not them specifically; that was the Marine fighter squadron VMF-214, the "Black Sheep". The squadron I did began their days in the same general island chain flying the same planes (F4U-1A Corsairs) and were also a bunch of outcasts from other squadrons due to behavior; they were VF-17 Jolly Rogers, a unit which technically still flies today as VFA-103 Jolly Rogers. Was amazed at the information I was able to gather, and then having to create markings for decals that did not exist, and sometimes modifying to create planes for which there were no existing models either. Was quite a project, but finally accomplished their entire aircraft history from 1943-present day.
