I'm surprised you never got yourself a mule to help look after your back 40, Roger.

Woke up early this morning to what sounded like someone dumping buckets of water on the roof. Turned on the local weather radar channel and seen a big blotch if red right above our area. According to the local news In less than an hour we got over 2 inches, possibly 3 inches, of rain, 10 miles west of us got over 5 inches of rain in the same time frame. And the lightning, never seen anything like it, there was so many flashes you could read a book by the light of it. Where we park the cars is sort of a peak in the parking lot luckily so the water never reached our cars, but some of the cars parked in the lower section of the lot had water upto the bottom of the doors. The downpour was so fast that it even moved some of the parking pads into the middle of the parking lot.
Glad to hear you're ok Hobie

Still no word from Hobie? Come on cousin. You're starting to worry us. Last I heard on the news 24 dead and 30 missing.
I know what you mean about the heat Spike. I'm glad I don't have roof work. I mowed today.....with a push mower. We have a big yard but I've never owned a riding mower. We also have a 150 driveway and I've never owned a snowblower....keeps me in shape.

I just looked it up. Sparta and Waverly (where the worst flooding was) are 130 miles away. Hopefully that means Hobie is ok

I hope Hobie is okay. I heard Loretta Lynn is pretty upset because her long- time ranch foreman was killed in the floods. Last I heard 24 died and 30 were still missing. We just had a 2 year old girl drown the next county over. When she came up missing dogs followed her scent into a river. They found her body a mile downstream. I got a ton of yard work done today...pretty hot out.

They drive past him, and he says "That's them!" His mouth don't move. Also in Season 2 Jude Emery Daisy says "Some cowboy Jude!" Her mouth don't move.

Ryan Blaney stole the win at MIS yesterday. 3 of the 4 Hendrick Motorsports cars dominated most of the race swapping the lead several times. On a late race restart Kyle Busch pushed Ryan Blaney to the lead before falling back to 7th. Ryan Blaney was able to hold off both Kyle Larson and William Byron in the final exciting laps. Austin Dillon was having an awesome race till Brad Keselowski turned him at the start finish line shortly after Stage 2.
Top 10

Kurt Busch reportedly has two offers on the table for 2022 but hasn't elaborated any further than that.
Sunday's Cup Indy RC race was the least watched Indianapolis Cup race besides the 2018 Monday rain postponed race https://www.jayski.com/2021/08/17/indianapolis-tv-ratings-4/
Nascar is reinstating some Covid protocols such as masks and social distancing https://www.jayski.com/2021/08/17/nascar-implements-several-covid-19-protocol-adjustments-beginning-this-weekend/ . So we won't be seeing the media on top of the driver's anymore this year. They'll have to put their phones and mics on selfie sticks again lol. I don't know why but I found it funny seeing all those poles shoved in driver's faces. I just thought any minute now a pissed of racer is going to take one of those poles and either break it or swing it at someone lol.
The races are at Michigan this weekend but on NBCSN.

We had sunny weather here today, so we set off for the beach. Despite the water still being a bit cold, I had a quick swim in the sea for the first time in years. We then went along the coast to a very picturesque village with a working harbor for some very fresh fish and chips!

Hobie did all that rain in Tennessee affect you? Man 17 inches of rain in 24hrs has to be a new record for anywhere in America.
Friday we finally figured out what was rattling in the wife's car, turned out the rear shocks were the cause. That noise has been puzzling us and the mechanics for the past few months. I though it might have been a loose exhaust pipe. One mechanic thought it was the bushings. I was able to pinpoint the sound was coming from the left rear while driving around our apartment parking lot. One mechanic went with the wife for a drive and he climbed half into the trunk to pinpoint the source and felt a lot of vibration in the LR shock tower. He put it on the lift and checked the bushings and they seemed fine so he ordered a set of shocks and thank God that was the problem. Now the car is quiet again and we can drive it without worrying if anything is going to fall off and leave her stranded somewhere.

Hey guys lol I've been soooo incredibly busy between finishing up the summer workshop and writing the screen play and doing shows and coming to a new school and all of our performances we do here that I never got a chance to tell ya'll how the script writing went. lol It ended up being set in present day New York. It centered around a rich family who loaned money to a guy, Troy, to open up his burlesque club. Troy didn't pay the family back so they hired a hot dog vendor, Jamey, who frequently set up shop outside the club to keep an eye on Troy. Jamey, an aspiring musical theatre actor, who also believes himself to be gay, thinks he is falling in love with Troy. That is, until he meets Charlie. Charlie is a dancer at the burlesque club, The Crystal Glass, and is also the daughter of the rich family who loaned money to Troy to open the club. Charlie is living a double life because she doesn't want to depend on her rich family. She tells them that she is dancing with a dance company when she is really dancing at the burlesque club. Charlie begins to fall in love with Jamey but is devestated to learn that he is in fact gay. Charlie then decides to confide in Claire who is a dancer at the club, Charlie's best friend, and Jamey's roomate. Claire tells Charlie to go for it because she knows how Jamey is and she thinks he is confused about his sexuality. Meanwhile the rich family is getting mad because Troy still hasn't payed them back. So, they send Charlie's brother Andre to hire Jamey to kill Troy. Jamey is devestated at the fact that he is going to have to kill the man he loves if he wants to continue living. He also confides on Claire. Claire tells him that he should do whatever he thinks is right. Jamey ends up killing Troy. He comes home the night after and tells Claire that he doesn't think he ever loved Troy because he didn't feel terribly bad after he killed him. After having a "practice kiss" with Claire, Jamey decides that he is in fact straight and only thought he was gay because people always told him that he was. The next morning Andre shows up at Claire and Jamey's apartment with an invite to his sister Charlotte's 21st birthday party. Andre tells Jamey that he is going to be the guest of honor at the party. Upon arrival at the party, Jamey is confronted by the head of the rich family who congradulates him on his killing Troy and informs him that he is going to be giving Charlotte's toast at dinner. Jamey is worried because he doesn't think he can give the toast because he does not know Charlotte. As he is giving the toast, Charlotte walks in and Jamey realizes that it is in fact, Charlie. He gives a wonderful heart felt toast and Charlotte/Clarlie thanks him. After dinner, the two meet up in the coat room and talk about how they were so surprised to see each other. They kiss but Charlotte's father steps in and tells them that if Jamey wants to continue being on the payroll that he is never to see her again. They end up meeting one year later and walk off into the night while saxophone music plays in the background.
I know thats kind of long. We planned on filming it, but never got the time. We did read it to an audience of about 50 or 60 and they seemed to like it. I played Claire which was fun. lol I still have a copy of the original script if you are so intrigued that you want to read it. It's about 60 pages long and I can email it to you if you want. If you don't want thats ok too. haha But, I just wanted you guys to know how it turned out

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Hughie Hogg's VW Beetle -- Work In Progress
The excellent Revell '68 chassis actually fit the Aoshima body *mostly* well. Only two issues to face. First, it needed widening on both sides with a .040 strip (easy fix).
The bigger problem was that the aft wheel wells and engine area didn't fit. So I took a saw and cut partway into the plastic at that area so that the aft area could be bent upward, and then fit quite well, considering.

Final step for now was scratchbuilding the large McPherson struts, a vital item for the Super Beetle. The struts themselves were made from plastic tubing, then the springs made by wrapping metal wire around an appropriately-sized plastic rod then trimmed to shape and installed.
