Hey guys lol I've been soooo incredibly busy between finishing up the summer workshop and writing the screen play and doing shows and coming to a new school and all of our performances we do here that I never got a chance to tell ya'll how the script writing went. lol It ended up being set in present day New York. It centered around a rich family who loaned money to a guy, Troy, to open up his burlesque club. Troy didn't pay the family back so they hired a hot dog vendor, Jamey, who frequently set up shop outside the club to keep an eye on Troy. Jamey, an aspiring musical theatre actor, who also believes himself to be gay, thinks he is falling in love with Troy. That is, until he meets Charlie. Charlie is a dancer at the burlesque club, The Crystal Glass, and is also the daughter of the rich family who loaned money to Troy to open the club. Charlie is living a double life because she doesn't want to depend on her rich family. She tells them that she is dancing with a dance company when she is really dancing at the burlesque club. Charlie begins to fall in love with Jamey but is devestated to learn that he is in fact gay. Charlie then decides to confide in Claire who is a dancer at the club, Charlie's best friend, and Jamey's roomate. Claire tells Charlie to go for it because she knows how Jamey is and she thinks he is confused about his sexuality. Meanwhile the rich family is getting mad because Troy still hasn't payed them back. So, they send Charlie's brother Andre to hire Jamey to kill Troy. Jamey is devestated at the fact that he is going to have to kill the man he loves if he wants to continue living. He also confides on Claire. Claire tells him that he should do whatever he thinks is right. Jamey ends up killing Troy. He comes home the night after and tells Claire that he doesn't think he ever loved Troy because he didn't feel terribly bad after he killed him. After having a "practice kiss" with Claire, Jamey decides that he is in fact straight and only thought he was gay because people always told him that he was. The next morning Andre shows up at Claire and Jamey's apartment with an invite to his sister Charlotte's 21st birthday party. Andre tells Jamey that he is going to be the guest of honor at the party. Upon arrival at the party, Jamey is confronted by the head of the rich family who congradulates him on his killing Troy and informs him that he is going to be giving Charlotte's toast at dinner. Jamey is worried because he doesn't think he can give the toast because he does not know Charlotte. As he is giving the toast, Charlotte walks in and Jamey realizes that it is in fact, Charlie. He gives a wonderful heart felt toast and Charlotte/Clarlie thanks him. After dinner, the two meet up in the coat room and talk about how they were so surprised to see each other. They kiss but Charlotte's father steps in and tells them that if Jamey wants to continue being on the payroll that he is never to see her again. They end up meeting one year later and walk off into the night while saxophone music plays in the background.
I know thats kind of long. We planned on filming it, but never got the time. We did read it to an audience of about 50 or 60 and they seemed to like it. I played Claire which was fun. lol I still have a copy of the original script if you are so intrigued that you want to read it. It's about 60 pages long and I can email it to you if you want. If you don't want thats ok too. haha But, I just wanted you guys to know how it turned out

RogerDuke reacted to Andrew D Charger Chaser in Hughie Hogg's VW Beetle -- Work In Progress
The excellent Revell '68 chassis actually fit the Aoshima body *mostly* well. Only two issues to face. First, it needed widening on both sides with a .040 strip (easy fix).
The bigger problem was that the aft wheel wells and engine area didn't fit. So I took a saw and cut partway into the plastic at that area so that the aft area could be bent upward, and then fit quite well, considering.

Final step for now was scratchbuilding the large McPherson struts, a vital item for the Super Beetle. The struts themselves were made from plastic tubing, then the springs made by wrapping metal wire around an appropriately-sized plastic rod then trimmed to shape and installed.

Thanks for digging this old thread up a couple weeks ago Skipper. I really appreciate it. When I get more time tomorrow I'm going to go through it a little better.

On to project #10: Hughie Hogg's Volkswagen!
The first thing I discovered was that it was NOT repeat NOT a true convertible. Rather, it was a chop-top, as evidenced by the sedan-style windscreen, and the bottoms of the window posts still remaining.
The second thing I had to learn was the difference between the classic Beetle and the Super Beetle. Some of you already know this, but it was new to me. Although the differences are easy to miss at first glance, I now see clearly that Hughie's ride was most definitely a Super Beetle with the roof cut off.
After much more research and guidance from folks at an automotive modeling forum, I realized (after much frustration) that I was going to have to kitbash THREE different kits to do this.
1) Aoshima Beetle 1303S for most (not all) of the body and the bumpers
2) Revell '68 Beetle for the chassis, engine, windscreen, rear body vents, tail lights and much of the interior
3) Revell VW Cabriolet for some of the interior and some of the body details
I should also mention part of my research was to go through every Dukes episode in which this vehicle appeared, pause the DVD whenever a good view appeared from any angle, and photograph the scene. I then had the photos made into prints to use as I build. Maybe low-tech, but it works for me.

That's crazy what happened with the one coaster at Cedar Point. They're covering their butts too, local news media has been trying to get more info but everyone except witnesses are using the 'No Comment' line. Funny how the piece of debris mysteriously disappeared in all the chaos too.
There was more family drama last night. I told the wife if she wants out of all the drama I won't fight her in a separation, i told her one of us should be able to escape and have a happier life.
Funny yesterday was a pretty good day; seen an Indigo Bunting at the park, made my peace with having to get rid of my project cars, then my uncle calls and well so much for a good day. Seems my dad failed to mention he was the one that parked the one car behind the garage or that all the bicycles on the side of the garage are ones he brought home or that most of the crap in the garage is his but I guess I'm the fn hoarder so whatever...I just don't care anymore.

RogerDuke reacted to Pain Trane in map of Hazzard
I know that the Dukes mentioned mountains in Hazzard in 'Mary Kaye's Baby', citing that Mary Porter was on a 'Mountain Road'.. Hazzard might by in the Southern Appalachians, like Dougal County, from 'Squidbillies'.

Amazing list there!!
Makes me think with that many neighboring counties, maybe the actual amount of boundary shared with each could be measured in yards....

I always aaid that if you made a map of Hazzard and the surrounding counties......it really wouldn't be possible! It's next to everything! ( and yet it gives the impression of a a small " out-of-the -way" town???)

I get the feeling it's going to be like those Jenny Kaboom cartoons from the Animaniacs cartoon show from the 90's. She was already riled up from the crap he's been pulling the past few weeks with him coming up with every excuse not to drive.
Yesterday we went over there to grab some mementos from the cars before they get hauled off to the junkyard. I grabbed all the badges off of them and an interior piece from the dash of the Monte Carlo. My dad came out 'Did you find the title yet?' My wife said 'Really? You going to start already. No hello how are you. Just where's the title.' My dad went back into the house lol. She's a fireball
