  1. I read an article about Fontana the other day. It was saying that Nascar was "considering" taking one of Fontana's dates away. There reasons being that the Kentucky Speedway that (I think) Dale Jr and Tony Stewart bought together is looking to get a date in the season. And then there is Kansas Speedway. They want to add a second date to that track because they are building the big casino and hotel right next to the track. So that's who wants to take Fontana's dates. As far as I'm concerned let them, I'd like to see a race in Kentucky and another race in Kansas would be cool too, maybe that would bring the prices down some. I also think that there really isn't that big of a Nascar culture there. Admittedly the track is boring, so whoever lives that close probably drives on over to Vegas. It really isn't that far. Just my thoughts and opinions though. I could be totally wrong.

  2. So on to Vegas, any predictions? I just hope we have another exciting race.

  3. Well, like I said, if you ever go to a race let me know. I will see about trying to get there myself and we can meet up. That would be fun. Although, I'm not sure how many races I will get to attend in the future. We were officially told yesterday that our jobs will end this summer and our facility is being completely shut down. I was depressed about it at first, but then decided this is God's way of moving me forward to better things. I wasn't completely happy with my job anyway, and wanted to move closer to family. So I'm pretty upbeat about it right now. We've got a few months so I can get things figured out and everything. It's going to be a good thing, I just know it.

  4. I didn't get to see the end of the race, which sucks since I got to see the beginning. Ah well, I guess some of the race is better than none. lol But "orders is orders" so I won't miss anymore. lol

As far as tracks go, we have considered going to Chicagoland, but like you said it is kind of expensive. But then again, the cheapest seats you can get at Bristol are $94, so that isn't a whole lot cheaper. But it is Bristol. You get what you pay for I guess. I looked into Kansas tickets and they want $165 for the two races. That seems pretty expensive to me when you can normally get tickets to Talladega for both races for $60. And Charlotte for $90. Not sure what the big deal with Kansas prices are. Maybe it's because they only have one race a year there and they have to make as much money as they can, when they can. Craziness if you ask me, which they don't. lol

  5. So it all depends on the track as to what you are going to get. It might just be me, but the atmosphere at each track is just a little different. I think you should go to at least one race. It really is a whole heck of a lot of fun. Just be warned, usually once you go to one race you get the fever and just want to keep going. lol I say usually because sometimes people have bad experiences. My advice is to keep you mind open to new experiences and just go with the flow. That's what I do and I have a whole heck of a lot of fun!

Well, here is another novel for you to read. lol But get me talking about going to races and I just can't stop! lol If you do decide to go to a race, you will have to let me know. I really think you would have a lot of fun.

  6. Talladega is a superspeedway and you are always waiting for the big one. The racing is good and there is a party all the time atmosphere there. Plus the tickets are very reasonably priced. I saw on tv that they are selling tickets for $49. That is an awesome price. They might not be the best seats, but I bet it is worth it.

We have talked about going to Martinsville next year. They are having some good ticket sales there too, so I was told. Another short track.

We would all like to go to Texas and Las Vegas too. I think those two races would be fun. And personally I'd like to go to Atlanta. I know that is one of Carl's favorite tracks and that is what makes me want to go. lol

  7. It's really hard to pick a favorite track. I love all of the tracks I've been to for different reasons. Bristol, well just the fact that it's Bristol. It's a short track and that is fun to watch too, but don't go if you want to be able to talk to the person next to you. You can't hear a thing. lol

I like Charlotte because it is a night race and that is fun. Plus you can go to all of the teams race shops. They are all right around that area and that is a lot of fun too. This is one race that I can't wait to go back too for the above two reasons. There is so much to do there, and of all the places I've been, one of the easiest places to travel for me. Of coarse I know some of the side roads and short cuts now so I can get around the traffic a little bit. lol That always helps.

  8. Well, at this point we are only going to one race this year. We're doing Bristol next month. Although, I am researching the prices for Kansas this fall. They are finally selling single tickets instead of making you buy season tickets. They still seem a little expensive to me though. It is just a thought and depends on a lot of things. But it is close to me, only two hours away, so that is a good thing.

  9. Is it me or does it seem as if Jr always gets all the bad luck and Johnson always gets all of the good luck? That's the way it feels sometimes. lol Oh well. lol

So DW and Hammond were showing their colors again huh? I didn't catch that, but it was probably after I stopped watching. I wish those two would show just a little more impartiallity. It couldn't hurt. I bet they are turning a lot of people off that way. How many people are turning off the sound on their tv's and listening to the race on the radio while watching a muted tv? I've read that some people do that because they can't stand the Fox announcers. Maybe Fox's ratings would go up if they changed this one thing, you know? *shrug* Who knows, just a thought.

  10. So Happy Harvick slapped the wall huh? Well, whatever he did, it sure sounds like the RCR team has gotten their stuff together this year. They are finally challenging for the lead. It's good to see them back. I'm okay with Harvick, but I think I like Jeff Burton better.

So what was the deal with Jr's car? The article I skimmed said something about a broken axle or something? How does that happen in Nascar? I mean jeez... It seems like they would be testing the strength of things like that before the put them on the car. Maybe it was just one bad one. I can only hope so.

  11. I didn't watch all of the race on Sunday... :-o

It wasn't because I didn't want to. I saw the first third of it. But then I had to head home. I had to stop and visit with some cousins of mine. One of them was in from Wisconsin and he wanted to see me. Haven't seen him in six or seven years, so I felt I had to give up my race. lol I was hoping to make it home for the ending, but it didn't happen.

  12. Thanks for posting that link. There are some funny pictures there. I get the feeling that they don't want Johnson to win anymore and that they are Jr fans. lol

Okay, so here it is... my big secret... are you ready?...

  13. Well I hope you enjoy Fontana this weekend. I'm sure you will see your guys back up front this time. I hope you enjoy it! Talk to you again on Monday!

  14. I love DW and Jeff Hammond. They are my favorite announcers. I just wish they (DW) would show a little impartiality. (Is that even a word? lol) You know what I mean right? So you love the guy, good for you, but don't be shoving him down my throat. Or you don't like the guy, good for you, but don't be throwing negative comments about my driver around all the time or I won't be watching this telecast much longer. You know what I mean? Like I said, I love them, they are my favorite's, but come on...

Okay, so there is my vent for this week. lol And you'll notice I qualified my negative remark with two positives. That plan is slowly starting to pay off anyway. lol

  15. $650,000!!! Wow, I missed that part. Good grief, I can't imagine...

I think Chrissy Wallace crashed out in the first few laps. I know, wasn't a good race for her. But come on, give her a little attention. At least acknowledge her. I read some of the comments from the other drivers and I think they were a little taken aback about the whole "Danica" phenom too. But I heard on the radio yesterday that it did increase the tv ratings for the nationwide race. I can't remember by how much though. I think they said the cup race ratings were down. They attributed that to the red flag stops for the pothole.

  16. Okay, I'm done writing my novel for the moment. lol See ya later...

    :escape:

  17. And what was up with DW screaming for his Junebug to go there at the end. I mean I'm sure all of the announcers have their favorites too, but shouldn't they show a little impartiality? Don't get me wrong, I love Fox's announcers, but that just struck me as a little off, ya know?

And then the commercials, I just need to state for the record here that I LOVED seeing Kyle Busch in pink and kitties. I want to see him race in that getup!!! lol He would never hear the end of it. I've got to think of an idea to dress him up and go to that web site. lol Maybe cows instead of kitties? Or ferrets? hmmmm... I need to think about this one. lol Okay, I'm going to stop now... lol

As far as Carl's baby, have not heard anything yet. I know the official due date is today. So, anytime now. lol Sadler's wife had her baby on Monday I think it was.

  18. I was very happy with the ending. Even Carl pulled out a ninth. I kept saying if he could just get a top ten I would be happy. And he did! Now as long as he can keep up the consistency and win a race or two, he will be in the Chase. And then he can start winning a lot of races. lol I'm hoping he has learned from watching JJ win so many championships. lol I don't discount anybody at this point though. As far as I'm concerned the Daytona race is on a different level than the regular racing. Someone might do well, or bad, there and they turn it around for the rest of the season. It was bad that JJ got taken out by the track itself. That was crazy. And that stupid pothole. Good grief! I can understand how it came about and all that, but I think the track people dropped the ball by not being able to fix it faster than they did.

  19. It was actually pretty funny those last few laps. My sister in law fell to her knees and was smacking the floor screaming Go, Go, Go! All the rest of us were on our feet yelling to. I'm not sure who I was yelling for, Jamie or Jr, I just know I was screaming for someone to go! lol It was great. I can't believe that Jr muscled his way that far up, but I'm sooooo happy he did. I'm thinking the beard needs to stay. It may be his good luck charm. lol I didn't like Tim McGraw's beard though. Are these guys trying to keep their faces warm this winter or what? lol My dad used to grow a beard every winter and he said it was to keep his face warm. lol Tim was good, but I think I enjoyed the Zac Brown Band last week a little more. They were both good.

  20. Now about this Daytona thing everyone is talking about... lol just kidding. I thought it was a great race. Of course we didn't start watching it until later in the afternoon, maybe around 2 I think. I had to get to my brothers house, but had to go to church and then feed the nephew lunch before he fell asleep on the drive over. So my brother DVR'd the race and we got to fast forward through most of the commercials (we watched the good ones) and through some of the red flag stops. I'm not sure how much I would have enjoyed watching that stop without being able to forward through it though. I was extremely happy with how everything shook out, especially Jr's push there at the end. How exciting was that!!! I wish he would have had one more lap to take the win, but I'm happy Jamie won as well. Hopefully things keep up for Jr and this season is a whole heck of a lot better than the past few years.

  21. Hey Garrett! I had a great weekend, even though it snowed... again! I'm gettin' real tired of this winter white stuff. It was great when I was a kid and could go out to play in it. The only worry was if school would please, please, please be cancelled. lol But I made it back home now. The crazy weather people are calling for more on Friday... GRRRRR! lol

Anyway, I actually didn't "watch" the Nationwide race on Saturday. I had my nephew and we played and napped together. lol But my brother DVR'd it, we fast forwarded through it and he showed me the highlights. You know who I feel sorry for? Chrissy Wallace. (I think that's right.) She raced too, but all of the attention was on Danica. I'm happy for Danica and everything, but lets share the love a little bit. Okay, so maybe Chrissy didn't do so great, but still... And Jr's crash, that was harsh. I felt bad for him. Both of his cars crashed out and his was kind of scary to watch.

  22. I sure hope Edwards has a backup plan in place for Saturday and Sunday. It would be disappointing though if he doesn't get to race. Probably for his fans and for him, but the experience of welcoming his new baby, a girl I think, into the world would have to be worth it in my book. There will be more races, but your first baby is only born once. That's my opinion anyway. lol I'm not sure who they would get to take his place. I'm sure there are a lot of racers out there who would love the chance, but I would hope it was someone with a little experience in the Daytona race. Things can get crazy fast there.

  23. I really don't have a party planned at this point. I'm going to my brother's house to watch the race and play with my nephew. Staying the night since I have Monday off. I thought about trying a party, but our weather here is unpredictable. We've tried to set up two surprise parties for my brother and cousin in the last two weeks, but they both had to be cancelled because of the crazy snow. We haven't gotten anywhere near what the East Coast did, but it was enough to stop traveling unless you were crazy. I was crazy enough to get to my parents house last weekend, but that was far enough. I about didn't make it that far. It was scary.

So how are you doing? The weather isn't getting you down is it? I'm so ready for Spring. It will probably rain all spring again like last year, but at this point I will take rain over snow. Not freezing rain though! I don't want that either! lol

  24. I'm not planning on watching the duels today. But... I am going to listen to them. I am going to connect to a MRN radio network on my computer here at work and listen to some of them. It sucks that I have to go to the dentist this afternoon, so I will probably miss some of them anyway. As long as I get to see the big race on Sunday I will be fine though.

  25. Okay, so this is what I heard about Jr's beard. I don't know if it is true or not, but I could see this happening. I was told that Jr grew the beard so that he could lie low in the off season, not get recognized so much I guess. Apparently his sister and someone else hate the beard and wanted him to shave it. What I heard is he is keeping it just to irritate them. Like I said, I don't know if that is true or not, but it sounds like something that would go on in my family. lol Hopefully he gets rid of it soon though. My sister in law, who is a big Jr fan, asked my brother if he thought they would use the same picture of Jr all year. In his picture he has the beard. lol She doesn't like it either.
