Sorry, I don't mean to rub it in or anything about Bristol. I'm just so excited. Today is my last day of work and I'm heading for my parents tonight. I will stay with them tomorrow and Friday getting stuff ready and running some errands. Then on Friday evening we will leave on the first leg of our journey. We're only doing 4 hours Friday and are going to stay with my brothers friends down in the boothill of Missouri. They are going to the race too, so then we can all leave together on Saturday and have a convoy. Three cars in a row is considered a convoy right? lol

I do enjoy writing stories and short stories now and again. My mom used to tell me that I would be a writer when I grew up. She told all three of her kids what they would do actually. She nailed one on the head, and the other two of us just do ours as hobbies. lol And if I do have a muse, it sure is being shy. lol Maybe Nascar is my muse... lol Something to think about anyway.

My favorite Dukes character? Well, you are right, it is Luke. I like Bo too, I just lean more towards Luke. Maybe because he's usually the one to come up with the plans? I do like smart boys. lol But really, all of the characters together are what makes the show so great. It's not the same if any of them are gone. For example, I know Bo was not in at least one episode and it just wasn't the same without him. I still liked the episode, but it was just missing something you know? And to name a favorite episode? That would be too hard. I love so many of them. To name a few, I like One Armed Bandits, The Ghost of General Lee, Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough (of course, anything Nascar you know), Jude Emery... See the list goes on and on. lol
How about you? Who and what are your favorites? What was your opinion on the new movies?

It's good to hear that your muses are cooperating with you. Unfortunately mine writing has slacked off big time. Maybe it's because I don't have a muse? I tried to create an original character to driver my stories, but they just seemed whimpy and unrounded if that makes any sense. In most of the stories I've actually put out there I've used only original characters. I'm also having problems finding a plotline that interests me and keeps my attention long enough to finish the story. I have like three to four stories started, but not finished. Will they ever be? I just don't know. I like to hope so. lol So maybe I should try to create another original character and start again. I've got a few ideas on it, but we will see if they come to fruitation. lol I happy for you though that you can get those muses to work. I'm definitely going to give it a try. Sometime anyway... lol Maybe I should center my story around a Nascar race. lol That might work, could be interesting.

Hey Garrett! Guess what?... ONLY FIVE DAYS UNTIL BRISTOL!!! lol If you can't tell I'm getting pretty excited. There is still a whole lot to do before we leave Friday night though. So much to do so little time. lol Gordon's gonna win huh? Well, I guess we'll just have to see about that. I'm of course rooting for Edwards and Martin, but I think this is a track that both Busch brothers are pretty good at too. So I wouldn't be surprised to see either one of them win. I'd rather Kyle Busch wouldn't though. You think he'll take that into consideration? lol I'm hoping with the talk between Edwards and Brad K before the race that nothing extreme happens between them on the track this week. But if good ol' Gordon goes for the win, I'd be fine with that too. I just want to see some good ol' racing!

You have a great weekend and I hope you don't get too bored! Talk to ya next week!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of negative comments about how he should be parked the rest of the year or thrown in jail... that is just complete craziness. And I have to wonder if those comments are coming from people that really didn't like Carl to begin with? That or maybe they are just jumping on the haters bandwagon? I just try to ignore the negativity and listen to those that have rational, logical things to say. lol Not that I'm one of them, but I do try! lol

You only get to use each driver nine times? That is so unfair. I guess they want you to really think about who might win, not just pick your favorite driver. But I'm sure you are like me, my driver is of course going to win every race. lol That does suck though.
Well, my thing with Roush went way downhill with the Atlanta race. I finally got the nerve up to look a little while ago. I dropped from 17th place to 30th. I'm still in the top 5%, but that is not good at all. Hopefully I will make up some places at Bristol.

Yeah, if I were going to be camping out and all that I'd already be packing... in fact I probably would have started a month ago. lol But since I'm just basically taking clothes and a few other needed racing items, I'm trying to hold myself back. I know I will be packing and repacking everyday to make sure I didn't forget anything or adding things. I do that, I keep adding things, I will think 'oh, I just might need this, you never know' and throw a whole bunch of stuff in there that I will never need. lol Crazy I know, but this is why I make a list. If it's not on the list and isn't really important, it doesn't need to go in the suitcase. Honestly, I hate packing! 'Course packing is a whole heck of a lot more fun than unpacking when the trip is over. lol

I figure it will all come together for Gordon soon. His team is getting consistently better aren't they? So I bet he will get another win sometime soon. Maybe you are watching him to close, you know the saying, a watched pot never boils? Maybe it's a watched driver never wins. lol just kidding with you. If that's the case I'm going to start watching Kyle Busch... and that will never happen. lol
Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to do this weekend either. Play with my nephew I guess. I would say I'd start packing, but that's awfully early still. lol I'm sure we will figure something out. lol

Yep, everything is fine here, besides being half asleep right now. lol I was up part of the night because the tornado sirens were going off. There wasn't an actual tornado, just a watch. So not fun:mad:
Sorry to hear about your fantasy team. Don't blame me!!! lol I know, I'm doing a thing on Roush Fenway's website where you pick how each car from the whole team will finish. I put Carl as #1, and I haven't had the guts to go see how bad I placed. I was in the top 17%. I bet that has gone downhill. lol
I'm glad you got to read that one part of the article. That's how I feel too. After reading that I feel less conflicted about the whole thing. And I feel like hopefully they will get something accomplished in their meeting before Bristol. Fingers crossed!

I understand your thinking about Gordon's, I guess I will call it luck, every week. It's kind of like Jr's luck, just not as pronounced. Jr seems to have a decent car or even a fast car (enough to get the pole) and he doesn't do anything throughout except lose positions. That has to be frustrating for both of them. I really think Gordon's team will get it figured out before Jr's though.

Hey Garrett, sorry I had to leave our chat so abruptly last night. Something came up. Anyway, sorry about that. But I was thinking about you today when I read an article on Yahoo Sports Nascar page. Do you ever read the articles there? I like the Happy Hour/Mail Bag because you get a lot of different opinions and theories from regular fans. But anyway, if you get the chance, the article this week is called "Brad vs. Carl: Where do you stand?". The sports writer answers some of the fans and there is one in particular that I liked where Jay Hart (the sports writer) answers Jed from Bluffton, Ind. If you have a minute and the chance, I think it is worth the read.

Sometimes I think Carl might have the same problem my dad used to. My dad used to keep all of his emotions pent up inside until he finally blowed his top. Don't get me wrong, my dad is the best, he would just yell and get it out. It didn't happen a whole lot and he mellowed with age. I have to say he is one of the best dad's ever (my opinion of course). But I think Carl might do that too. He is keeping it all pent up inside him until it bursts out. And he had 150 laps to let all that anger and emotion build up. Just an opinion.

Yay! Two weeks to go for me! I'm getting really excited about going to the race. I've got my TomTom programmed!
I agree, I don't like the way Carl came across with his stand. I'm sure the emotion was running high. I know Atlanta is Carl's favorite track and I'm sure he was really mad he didn't get to run. But that is not a reason to do what he did.
-
I had not heard about the end decision yet, so thanks for letting me know. I guess Nascar decided to follow through on letting the drivers "police" themselves. I hope he can keep it together to pull something out of this season. And I hope he can keep it clean at Bristol. That's one of those tracks that patience is a key I think. I guess we shall see.
-
On one hand, I'm glad that Carl stood up for himself and took a stand. I think Brad K. is a very aggressive driver and he seems to be making drivers mad left and right... or I guess that would be left and left. lol Bad joke, sorry. For example, Denny Hamlin last year was talking about how he was going to wreck Brad, but it never happened. So I'm glad Carl finally took some action on that part.
Then the other hand... while I was watching all of this go down I felt sick to my stomach. Literally sick to my stomach. That just is not Carl. Carl doesn't retaliate like that. I'm glad Brad K. is all right. I think the end result shook Carl up a little bit too. That just isn't his thing.

Hey Garrett. Sorry I haven't written sooner. So, wow, what a race this weekend. I'm still trying to make sense of it in my head. I'm conflicted about it to tell the truth. I am happy for Kurt. He had a good race and did well. Plus, it was good to see someone new in victory lane. No offense to JJ, but you know I was starting to get a little bored with it. So I am happy with that. My confliction comes from the whole retaliation thing...
-
Well, I hope you have a good Friday and a great weekend. Enjoy watching the race on Sunday. I've got tomorrow off so I won't be on here again until next week. Have a good one.

I must've missed that part with Carl on the radio. I wish I would have heard it. But you know, even Kyle doesn't irratate me quite as much as he was. I still don't really want to see him win, but he was mellowed from previous years it seems. Maybe his new engagment is calming him down? Maybe he's just acting calm and the real him will come out later. I don't know. I wonder what Kyle did to Carl to make him mad? I don't think those two have gotten a long for a while. Of course they could be great friends off the race track, I really don't know. lol I don't see that though.

You don't bore me. I think it's interesting getting another take on all the happenings in Nascar from someone that isn't family. So continue talking on about Gordon. I like Gordon and it wouldn't bother me to see him win. As a matter of fact, I've got my fingers crossed that Gordon gets his fifth championship before JJ does. Of course I want to see my drivers win races and get a championship too, but I wouldn't begrudge it to Gordon either. So talk on my friend, I will read and listen every word of the way. lol
