    Family Guy

What episode was that in? Sounds pretty wild. In response to your question, I love Family Guy! I make it a point to switch to Adult Swim when Dukes goes into the commercial breaks. One of my favorite Family Guy episodes is where the Griffins move to Georgia after Chris is placed in witness protection. Peter and Brian proceed to paint the family wagon to resemble the General Lee (though the paint and the 01 type is different). The episode is chock full of Dukes references: 1) Peter tells Brian they can only go through the window. Peter is somehow able to fly through it in a single jump, but unfortunately he forgot to roll down Brian's window. 2) Peter and Brian discover a haybale-laden truck to jump over. Cue bluegrass music, guy waving his arms, and a loud "Yeee-haaaw!" This precedes a conversation I quote frequently. Peter: "Yeah, that was great! Next time let's get Meg to be Boss Hogg and Chris to be Anus!" Brian: "Enos!" Peter: "What'd I say?" Brian: "Anus." Peter: "Ah hah hah hah!" 3) On the original FOX broadcast, also on the DVDs, Peter and Brian must escape a group of angry Confederate vets. The duo immediately jump into the General Wagon, with Brian doing a hood slide worthy of Luke Duke. 4) During said chase, the General Wagon drives off a hill. Cue the freeze frame, and the immortal Balladeer himself: Balladeer: "Looks like them Griffin boys are going to have to grow some wings...or start flapping their arms!" (NOTE: Waylon Jennings' last role before he passed on was reprising the Balladeer.) In Dukes fashion, we return from commercials with the GW making a safe landing. Just truly inane, hysterical stuff.
  2. I went with my nephew today. He's ten...but the kid's a horror film freak, so he's used to that kind of stuff. That being said, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott were both a hoot as Luke and Bo. For all the hype Jessica Simpson got, the only thing she was used for was wearing a bikini and hitting on cops for info. Very impressive, Jess. Dave Koechner was a perfect fit as Cooter, albeit not as crazy. MC Gainey did not do Rosco P. Coltrane proud; he could've added at least a sliver of humor to the character instead of being Psycho Lawman. Sheev was just plain weird. Enos was still the lovable dipstick (and I'll voice agreement with Jamanda with the ending. Yeehaw!). Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg is still a tad unbelievable on paper, but he played the part well. His plan to strip-mine Hazzard and deny the folks a chance to object during a hearing (because they'll all be at the Hazzard Derby) is classic Hogg, although it lacks other baddies to do that infamous double cross. The crawfish part was interesting, though it would've been wicked funny to see Rosco grab the live one. Finally, Willie Nelson. Wow. A bit too colorful, but he had the one-liners going for him (which the audience loved, especially the donkey/onion joke). Of course, I can't forget the General. As beautiful on the big screen as he is on the small, the stunts were unbelievable. I can imagine the lion's share of the budget was solely on cop cars getting destroyed in insane fashion. A few drawbacks I have was with the excessive language used througout the film (especially from Jesse), and the fact that the Confederate flag got ripped on. Yes, it's a controversial part of American history, but apologizing for it isn't going to solve it. (personally, as a Cheesehead Yankee I have no problem with the flag) Overall, the film did not disappoint me, although it'll never hold a flaming arrow to the television classic.

  4. I'm still laughing at Brian's original post! I was ready to watch Coy and Vance duke (bad pun, I know) it out on Tuesday night. What a danged letdown! A few punches, but no piledrivers or face-slamming into the Baxley sisters' van? Disappointing, although the episode was redeemed by Rosco taking out the road crew's porta-crapper and Vance getting whacked upside the head with a footrest. I rewound that last part quite a bit.

  6. Robot Chicken airs on Adult Swim, the grown-up portion of Cartoon Network. It just wrapped up its first season, and can be seen Sunday nights at 11:30 PM Eastern time with a repeat on Thursday at midnight ET.

  8. Resurrecting this thread, there are a few recent Rosco Moments: I liked two scenes from "A Little Game of Pool": After Jesse loses the General in the grudge match against that hustler from Chickasaw County, Rosco takes it to the bad guys. Along the way, he sees a guy working on a truck with one of those trailers attached to it. Rosco attempts to jump the thing but proceeds to reduce the trailer to shambles. He looks back and remarks, "well at least he won't have to worry about air conditioning!" The second moment involves him equipping Flash with a helmet. After all those numerous wrecks he's gotten the dog in, it's about time. Also, there was the episode where Rosco is chasing Coy and Vance, but runs into the ol' Hazzard Co. Road Crew. Rosco gets distracted by Flash, the patrol car hits something, and the next thing you know he's stuck in a tree. Bonus points to the road crew for having fun at Rosco's expense.

  10. I have a deep, dark secret to confess...after watching the first three eps of Season Five on CMT, I actually kinda like Coy and Vance. Granted, they could've been introduced under better circumstances (as referenced before, guest cousins or something like that before the infamous walkout) and given some character development instead of just being "clones." But, as referenced before in a couple posts, look how the plots changed. And right now the Hazzard Co. Sheriff's Department is extremely entertaining. For the most part, I think my sentiment is the same as Eddiemunster's...the Dukes are the Dukes no matter who's in the General.

  12. Yep....they played it during the Mark Martin/Rusty Wallace clip reel. I just about fell over laughing when they showed young Mark replete with facial hair. Listening to them talk, I realize I'm really going to miss these two drivers next year. On another NASCAR topic; don't you feel sorry for the poor sap that has to promote a Gordon and Junior-less Chase?
  13. I dunno, I didn't mind the ep at all. Although it probably would've been a million times better if Bo was on, I liked the plot with Boss' twin brother (in black, fancy that!) and the fact Flash was needed at the end to determine which Hogg was which. You can never have enough of Flash. (I admit it, I love bassets.)
  14. Most of my favorite car ones happen to be Burt Reynolds flicks: Smokey and the Bandit, Stroker Ace and The Cannonball Run
  15. This one is one of my favorite Season Four episodes. Not only do you once again have the Dukes and Boss working together, Thackery (sp?) is one of the better adversaries I've seen during the series. Not only does he take the time to study out pretty much everybody and everything in Hazzard County, he's got an almost foolproof plan (I say almost because you know it'll be foiled by Bo and Luke) One noteworthy tidbit: Peters is played by MC Gainey...who's playing Rosco in the big screen movie! I almost fell over when I saw him in the cop car with Jimmie.
  16. You are correct!! Then of course everybody takes Swamp Road, which leads into my earlier Jesse/Cooter conversation. Sway4829: your quote is classic Rosco!
  17. Thought of a couple more!! Rosco: "What a horrendous crash!" (usually said whenever he done scuffed his vehicle) Balladeer: (as Daisy's Roadrunner goes over the cliff) "I wonder what that'll do to the wax job?" Jesse: "I'M NOT YOUR UNCLE JESSE!" (often said to Cooter) Cooter: "If they're keeping an eye on Daisy, who's keeping an eye on them?" Jesse: "Who do you think? Come on!" Cooter: (as Jesse walks off) "Who's going to keep an eye on us?
  18. From what cmt.com has posted, they'll be airing Season Five. They got "The New Dukes" slated to air at 11 PM ET on June 28. Being one of possibly a few Hazzardites who haven't seen a Coy and Vance episode, that's a date I have circled on the ol' calendar.
  19. Besides the obvious one??? Let's see...Here's a few. CHiPs. Nothing says bad 70s cop show like synthesizer music, massive car pile-ups that'd put NASCAR to shame, and Erik Estrada and that stupid grin. Get Smart's another. Package it with your very own Cone of Silence and I'd be happy. Hopefully Paramount can put out a decent Beverly Hillbillies set instead of the one you can find in the cheap bin at Wal-Mart. Welcome Back Kotter. The John Travolta eps, not the ones with that replacement...jumpin' jeehosaphat....
  20. Pocono's going to be exciting next week...from what the post-race interview sounds like, the #20 and #24 are scheduling another round of car-nage. What the heck happened to Earnhardt Jr? They said he's 414 points back now. I didn't think all that backstage crew chief turmoil would't have that much of an effect on the team, but he better start showing improvement or he'll miss the Chase.
  21. AKA, "The Burt Reynolds in NASCAR" movie. It's a good flashback to the olden days of Winston Cup, complete with a slew of driver cameos (poor Cale Yarborough is reduced to working with a chimp!) and decent race footage. Gotta love that Chicken Pit slogan..."The Fastest Chicken in the South." But that's not even the best line in the movie: Charlie (the crew guy played by Alfie Wise): "What's so bad about second?" Stroker and Lugs: "SCREW SECOND!!"
  22. I just bought the Pursuit pack on DVD. After finally being able to watch Smokey 1 in its entirety, I haven't stopped giggling, or be able to drive "Eastbound and Down" from my head for days. Buford T. Justice is a riot. Junior: "Daddy, my hat blew off." Buford: "I hope your goddam head was in it!!" The finale where just about every police car in Georgia is trashed is classic.
  23. I've got a couple: ---the fight between Luke and Turk at the Boar's Nest in "Luke's Love Story." ---Bo and Luke cleaning house at the Boar's Nest in "Officer Daisy Duke." I'm surprised the bartender was able to move what with all the patrons piled up behind the counter.
  24. I can't wait to see that one! There was another classic tonight: "The Hack of Hazzard." Boss drives to Colonial City in Rosco's car...and Rosco's the hood ornament.
  25. Here's a few more good ones... From "Jude Emery" after Cooter gives Daisy that fancy hot rod to chase after the General. Cooter: (after reciting some fancy rhyme which I just forgot... ) "Man, that's pretty obtuse." From "Duke of Duke": Gaylord: "Begging your pardon, but what is all this 'shucking and jiving' talk?" LB: "Sure....them's just reprehensible words." One of my all-time favorites is from "The Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough" when there's some free time in the sheriff's office... Rosco: "You got a jack?" Enos: "No sir....(grins) Go fish!" Rosco: "Enos, you don't go fish in rummy, you dummy!"
