Well, the verdict on the Madring after the inaugural race there seems fairly unanimous. The long pit lane discourages pit stops (only one is mandatory) and the lack of overtaking opportunities leads to dull racing. The race organizers have said they're fully open to changes for next year, but it makes you wonder who thought it was a good layout this year. Seeing as I didn't post the starting positions for the race, Lando Norris took pole ahead of Kimi Antonelli, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Lando just held the lead at the start and Max got to second after initially slipping back to fourth. Because Max left the track to get ahead, his team advised him to give both places back to avoid a time penalty. Only a lap later, while looking good in third, Lewis suffered a brake failure and had to retire. At lap 15, Lance Stroll pulled off the circuit bringing out a virtual safety car. This allowed Kimi and Max a "cheap" pit stop from second and third, but leader Lando missed out due to his track position. He pitted on the next lap, but the virtual safety car had just ended, so he slipped back to third. Hoping for a second safety car that didn't come, Charles Leclerc waited until lap 49 (of 57) to make his only pit stop, dropping back from first to fourth. At the flag, it was Kimi with another victory ahead of Max, Lando and Charles. Race highlights (I use the term loosely) are here. Kimi now leads his team mate George Russell by 81 points, which is over three race wins. The next race is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in just over a week. For some reason the race weekend is going to be Thursday to Saturday instead of the usual Friday to Sunday.

  17. I have no idea how to fix that or if it can be fixed, but I'll look into it.

  21. I've just noticed that embedded YouTube videos come up much smaller than they used to (on my laptop). They're only about half of the post width now. ETA. They seem to take the whole post width on my phone.
  22. If you use a race car as your daily driver you're probably trying new parts regularly, so the car may not always be at peak performance.
  23. HossC... I wonder if it really was a mistake that Bo and Luke couldn't keep up with him and Daisy could or just scripted that way.

  28. Ok, I changed it from #666 (😱) to #444. Let me know if that works on both devices.
  29. I can tone that line down a little bit so it's noticeable, but not overbearing. Let me see what I can do....

This week's F1 race is at a brand new circuit - the Madring in Madrid. A couple of the drivers have described it as a "fast Monaco" due to it being a street circuit with small run-off areas. There were a few crashes bringing out red flags in practice, but all three qualifying sessions passed without incident, although Lance Stroll and Oliver Bearman failed to set a time and will start from the back of the grid. Sadly, they've said that overtaking will be difficult. I won't post the pole sitter yet as the last few minutes of the final session saw that honor change several times and finished with four different teams in the top four places. See the highlights here.
  31. The white line above the signature works much better for me - thank you. I hadn't realized that signatures don't show up on my phone. The extra lines on the All Activity page look great on my phone, but make the screen look busy on my laptop. I don't know if there's any compromise. Overall though it's definitely an improvement.
  32. You obviously watched the same episode and spotted the same mistake two years ago, Skipper. Incidentally, I commented on the relative performance of the two cars back in 2020 - see here.
