Wednesday evening I was watching TV and out of the clear blue sky started to get the chills. No matter what I did I couldn't warm up.....and then at times I'm hot and sweating. Thursday morning I noticed a big red patch near my left armpit. I never got better, going from chills to sweating all day so Friday went to the doctor. It looks like an infected spider bite (it' s not a tick bite) so now I'm on antibiotics but still havent made any improvements. I can't stay awake for more than a couple hours. Hopefully the antibiotics will start working their magic soon. It's a small problem compared to what MM is going through but it has been a really rough 3 days.

I had a co-worker who had a spider bite. It got really bad, really quick. If it doesn't improve in 24 hours, you need to see another doctor. They put her on prednisone and other drugs. It progressed to a nerve disease and the only thing that cured her was electroaccupuncture. Not saying that'll happen to you, but you really need to push for treatment on this if you don't improve!

Thanks Hoss. If anybody has any questions for the Q@A session please let me know. I'll introduce myself as a representative of the HazzardNet to try to recruit new members. (a lot of the people there will already recognize me anyways)

Ooh! Please do! That'd be great to have HazzardNet represented there. It's been a long time since I've been well enough to get out to a Dukes event.

My daughter is a cat person and I often hear stories about their personalities and how complex they can be when interacting with each other, especially when a new one comes in the family....high drama! Do you see many of those big woodpeckers?....pileated...if I'm spelling it right.

We get pileated woodpeckers in our backyard fairly often. We can hear when they land on the suet feeder. CLANG! LOL. We also get downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and lots and lots of flickers. I often get woken up to flickers drumming on our siding, which is fiber-cement for that very reason....

If anybody in the parade had a strong (or even weak) tie to the Dukes I would have made the effort to find out about autographs. The next time I go down I want to go to Cooter's. I just found out that it is only an hour away from my daughter.

    Cooter's is a must if you're a Dukes fan.

Hey Meadow....I was just thinking....you know on these reviews that people give....well, all it takes is for just one little knit picker to get her panties in a wad and there you go! His clean record is over! This doctor really must be something, not to even get ONE slightly negative feedback!

There were even at least 2 reviews that said "he saved my life!", so that's a pretty great testimonial.

  6. Thanks. I really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. It really boosts my spirits. Quick little update. My oncologist called today. He sent my scan results to a surgeon and I should be meeting with the surgeon soon. I looked the surgeon up on the internet, 5 stars everywhere I look, so that inspires a lot of confidence. I'm in good hands. Spirits are high, though right now I'm not feeling so great. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help.

Speaking of PETS I see Rosco's pet is showing off his velvet ears in this picture. I love it when Rosco says "Good news, good news!" Thank you so much for telling us about this MM. Please keep us posted as much as possible. I'm sure I speak for everybody when I say how much we love and appreciate you. By keeping Dukes alive in the manner that you have, you have become a celebrity in your own right. But life is bigger than the Dukes of Hazzard *gasps* (did I really just say that?!). As much as we love the show in a fantasy sense we love the reality of the people who acted in it, worked behind the scenes and...now 40 years later....keep it fresh, exciting and new. Which means that you....in a 2019 kinda way....are the biggest Dukes star out there. And we are proudly your biggest fans.  Every Dukes episode has a happy ending and this episode will too. *hugs* wait a second, what's happening now?....*MM fans gather coming in from all directions....*group hug*

    Well, shucks.

Hi MM. We haven’t spoke in many years. I was dukes69 on our old AOL chat room.  I guess by chance (or pre-destination) I found your thread, really I was only looking for the actual model CB antenna used on the General.  I’m sorry to hear about what you are going through. On May 20th will be 6 years my wife has been dealing with colon cancer. She’s still with us and doing good.   She has had many surgeries, way too much chemo, etc.  If you need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll put her in touch with you. We’ve learned a lot over the years and she loves helping people.

Take care. We wish you the best

    -Chris

AOL chat! Those were the days! That was such a good time for the DOH fandom.

It's amazing how many people have come to me and offered an ear to listen and answer questions since I have gone public with my diagnosis. And, surprisingly, they're all people with GI cancers like I have (though not the exact same type of cancer). I think I'm good for now, but thank you for the offer and if I have questions or need to talk, you'll hear from me!

  9. I'm usually pretty open about my health. You guys know I've been sick for a while now (about 2 1/2 years). My doctors and I assumed it was my autoimmune disease because the symptoms were indicative of that. So, we've been treating it that way. I wasn't getting any better though. So, last December, I insisted that my GI doc do an endoscopy to check on some issues. Well, on March 13th, she informed me that one of the samples she had taken for biopsy turned out to be neuroendocrine cancer (the bad news). Turns out neuroendocrine cancer, which is rare, also has a lot of the same symptoms of my autoimmune disease.

I saw an oncologist and he ordered a PET scan, which I found out yesterday showed the cancer had not spread (the good news). Also good news is that they caught it early, it's a slow growing cancer, and it's just in the right spot to totally avoid chemo and/or radiation. I really didn't want to talk about it until I knew exactly what I was dealing with. It has been a crazy rollercoaster ride. I'm mostly upbeat and positive, but there are times when it's incredibly hard, especially when the severe fatigue and GI symptoms hit.

I'll be having surgery soon to remove the tumor and recovery might take a few months. You're in good hands with Hoss looking after the place though. :)

That's OK, I probably wouldn't have had time to read it, especially since our clocks went forward yesterday, so the weekend was a hour shorter.

Ours went forward a few weeks ago. I still should have used that as an excuse as to why I didn't have time to put together the moderator guide.

  11. By the power vested in me as the owner of HazzardNet, I hereby declare HossC as the newest moderator of our forums. Many of you know he's a long time veteran of HazzardNet and has been keeping a keen eye on the forums in my absence, so I figured we'd make it official and give him moderator superpowers to toss any spammers and riff-raff in the hoosegow.
