Ok, the site has been moved to a new server and the forum update is complete. Please let me know if you run into any issues by posting in this thread or contacting me: http://www.hazzardnet.com/about-us/contact-us/

I'm planning on updating the forum software this weekend, April 8th. It might be unavailable for a short while.
-
I would love to see a project like that done, however, you're sure to run into licensing issues with Warner Brothers if they get wind of it.
-
Thanks for sharing that! So awesome. I hope I can get out there eventually.

I was kind of bummed Atlanta lost. They had it. I think Atlanta beat themselves and New England took advantage of their mistakes. You can't let up on the Patriots, even if you're ahead by 3 scores. I think Atlanta had a much tougher schedule this season, playing better teams than New England had to face.

Aaron Rodgers has the flu or something. I heard 15 of the Steelers came down with some bug too. I'm really starting to wonder if there isn't some germ warfare going on. LOL. I am REALLY hoping the Steelers beat the Patriots, but with that much of the team sick, doesn't look promising.

It's no secret I like the Steelers, but the Seahawks are way better.
Well, that's nice of you to say, Rog.

They still have Christmas lights (blue and green, of course) up at Centurylink Stadium and I walk past them every day after work. It gets me a little sad, since it's a reminder that the holidays are over.

I have a soft spot for birds, so I'm hoping the Falcons beat the Packers, even though they beat my 'hawks. Well, mostly we beat ourselves last weekend. Ugh. I don't like the Patriots or the Steelers (sorry, Rog), but I'm hoping the Steelers beat the Patriots this weekend.

Thanks for the input guys. I am kind of leaning toward the MediaWiki option, though I've been playing around with some of the features of InvisionBoard and I'm tempted to just move everything, including the blog, into the forum software and moving the forum to the root of the site. I think what I will do is get things to a point where I can let you guys play around with both and give me more input on which you prefer after actually getting to use the functionality.
I am planning to keep editing just for veterans for now. Besides, I think the only folks who come 'round here anymore are veterans. And I appreciate you guys keeping this place alive.

If it helps any, there's a free site called Chatzy. https://www.chatzy.com/ I don't know a lot about it (Like Roger, I'm somewhat low-tech) but I've used rooms set up by the moderators in another fandom, and it seems to work ok. I don't think it's that hard to set-up.
Just a possibility / suggestion. I hope I'm not being rude.
Suggestions are always welcome. Unless, of course, it's to suggest I take a long walk off a short pier or things like that. LOL.

Sadly, I read this week that Invision is doing away with the chat room effective April. If you all are interested in keeping chat functionality, I'll look into alternatives.

There are a few options for the wiki a few of us have discussed, so I thought I'd put them out there so those interested can talk about it and help make the decision.
1. I can install and customize MediaWiki (what Wikipedia runs on). I may be able to put together a single sign on so folks wouldn't need a separate login from their forums login. This would be the most difficult option to put together and I may not be able to get it to look exactly like the rest of the site.
2. I can set up wiki like pages in the forums. Folks would be able to use their forum login, since it would be a part of the forum. I wouldn't have to customize much at all since it would use the same forum templates. This is the easiest option, but the downside is that the wiki would be a part of the forums and not in a separate wiki directory. I can put together some samples.
3. I can install different wiki software like DocuWiki. I'm willing to try others if anyone has suggestions.
4. I can set up another WordPress install with a wiki template/plugins.
What do you guys think?

*poof!* You're a veteran.

Well, hubby took the outside Christmas lights down yesterday. I was not happy. We still have our artificial Christmas tree up though.

Who else gets the post Christmas blues? When those decorations start to come down (usually Jan 2) I start to get a little depressed.
That's why we leave them up until February. LOL!

True. For the time being, I want to only have veterans editing the wiki and then maybe we can open it up later for newer members.

If there's any way a low tech guy can help let me know.
Sure. I have to figure out a few things first like integrating the login with the forum (if possible) and styling it to look like the rest of the site, but once that's done, I'll open it up for folks to play around. I think I already figured out how to restrict editorial permissions using the mediawiki login system so it doesn't get spammed, so that's a good first step. I'll look for some tutorials online to get low tech folks like Rog up to speed. It's really very much like posting to the forum, but there is some unique markup that mediawiki uses you might need to read up on.

I haven't stopped celebrating my birthday yet...

Funny you should mention that... I have tinkered around with MediaWiki (what Wikipedia runs on) on the site and may still have it installed in a directory somewhere. If not, I can always reinstall. If you guys are interested in adding some content to the site and sprucing it up a bit, I'll look into getting a wiki ready and 1) seeing if I can tie it into your current logins or 2) if not, getting some sort of secure login so we can make sure the wiki isn't spammed. Perhaps we should move over all the content about the episodes, trivia, etc, from the WordPress install to the wiki and just keep the blog at the root of the site for updates and current events.
Let me know what you guys think.

I had such a great Christmas. I've been so blessed.
Glad to hear it, Rog. I had a wonderful Christmas as well. I hope the rest of you did!
I have a whole 10 days off. I am so burnt out... I'm going to enjoy every second of it.

It's alright to complain, Rog. All the PC stuff kind of took the winds out of our sails, unfairly characterizing the show because of a flag. I hope some day the show will be back on the air, but for now, at least we have the dvds and fond memories.
