He took pole ahead of the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton with George Russell in fourth and Max Verstappen in fifth. Championship leader Oscar Piastri was off-pace all weekend and only qualified eighth, but started seventh after Carlos Sainz had his grid penalty applied. There's a long run to the first corner, and the drivers arrived there four wide. Max had to cut the corner, but gave the place back to Lando. On lap 6, Lewis and Max were fighting for position when Lewis left the track. Lewis was later given a 10-second penalty for not following the correct route back to the track and gaining an advantage. That pretty much ended his race, although he scored four points for finishing eighth. Oscar lost a few places at the start, but gradually moved up through the field. Oliver Bearman spent a lot of the race in third, and looked like he might take a first podium for Haas.  In the end, Lando led every lap and won by 30 seconds. Carlos retired with a few laps to go, and a virtual safety car thrown to allow his car to be moved denied a couple of tight battles on the last two laps. Charles held onto second ahead of a faster Max, and Oliver equalled Haas' best result with his highest ever finish in fourth. It was damage limitation for Oscar who made his way back to fifth. Lando was booed by the crowd during the post-race interviews and prize giving. This was apparently a reaction to the controversial team orders back in Monza, but he just laughed it off.  You can see the race highlights here. The win puts Lando in the lead of the Drivers' Championship by a margin of a single point over Oscar. Max is still there in third with a chance to win with four races left. The next race is the Brazilian Grand Prix in two weeks.
    • This is one of the  things that makes Hazzard the best place in the world. We disagree probably less than 1% of the time and even then, it's slight and the rest of the time we're right in there with each other!!
