Hi TRP Coltrane...you beat me with this thread! LOL...guess I snooze, I loose. ;)

There is a lot of changes this year...with the drivers and NASCAR in general. I don't understand why Brad Keselowski will be driving the blue duece this year with Miller and Kurt Busch will be driving the number 22 Penzoil car. They both are driving for the same owner...but that is another change. Another paint scheme change is Jeff Gordon's number 24 car...I've seen pictures of it and am looking forward to seeing it on the track. Am sad to see him lose the flames and Dupont...though he will have that car for fourteen races this year. His new primary sponsor is AARP Drive to end Hunger and his car is a burgandy color. Not as fansy as his flames, but as long as Gordon is behind the wheel of it, I'll take it.

Am excited to see what Kansas is all about. I know they have been trying to get Kansas in for a while now...If I remember right Bruton Smith owns that track as well (he owns several NASCAR Sprint tracks). Though am sad to see that it took over one of the Atlanta races and I think a California race. More sad about Atlanta though. Also they will be starting the chase at a different track as well...think it will be Chicago, but am not sure about that. Then add the new point system, the new chase...oh and they can only have six crew members behind the wall instead of seven. Think I read on Gordon's fan forum that the catchcan guy has been eliminated.

Another change is the garage/crew swap at Hendrick for Gordon, Earnhardt Jr, and Martin. I would love to hear what y'all think about that? I am sad to see Letarte and Gordon's crew go to JR...I liked Letarte and he had a fast pit crew. So hopefully Jr will benefit from his crew and his old cars. Though am glad to see Gordon get Gustufson...perhaps he can help Gordon out of his slump he had last year...also sad to see Gordon and Johnson no longer sharing a garage. Oh well...I think I read that that move was to help Junior out with Johnson and for next year for Gordon to help out with Kahne when he comes to the number five car. As I said, would love to hear y'all's opinion on that...to me that's a huge change, but then again, it involves Gordon (If you can't tell by now TRP Coltrane, Jeff Gordon is my favorite driver. Who's your's?)

As I said, there is a lot of change going around for the 2011 season...I think most has been for the good of the sport. I am excited for Daytona (and to see Gordon win...HA HA) and to get the season under way. It should be a great season and to see if Johnson will get his sixth championship in a row or if we'll get a new championship (like Jeff Gordon...;) I can always hope, right?)

You mentioned Red Bull...think I remember hearing the number switch (am glad that through the switching at Hendrick that Gordon will still be number 24 -I'd be upset if he had to change numbers!). Though couldn't tell you what numbers. Talking of Red Bull...I am excited to see Brian Vickers return to racing. What a scare he went through last year. Am glad to see him back to good health and back into his Toyota.

Well there is my take so far on the 2011 season...I can go on and on about it or anything NASCAR! HA HA. Great discussion topic, TRP Coltrane.

Didn't noticed the color of the track...I will have to pay more attention on Sunday to it. :)

The two car tango was odd to say at Daytona. Daytona is suppose to be fast and actioned packed...which it was, just in a different way. It is the kind of racing that you don't want to be leading unless it is on the last lap really, because otherwise the driver will be going back after awhile. Saw where they may try to do something to fix that before Sunday's race, but am not sure what that is or would be.

Nice pictures, TRP Coltrane. A Stewart fan, huh? ;) He's a talented driver and I do find myself wishing him well now that he has changed his attitude and driving style.

Kansas looks to be a good track and am looking forward to see them race on it for the first time. I hope you get to go. I would love to go to a race...never been to one before other than the local dirt track and that has been ages since I have been there.

Well I went to the closest Wal-Mart to me last night to run in and grab something real quick and was greeted by a cardboard poster of Jeff Gordon! :) I was excited to see that, but got even more excited when I was buying my items when I looked up towards the other entrance area where they had built Jeff Gordon's race car using pop bottles or popcan boxes...I didn't get a close look at it due to the lack of time...but was excited to see both of them.

Garrett, Are you sure it was just cardboard? Did you go up to it and touch it? Maybe it was really Jeff.

If it is just cardboard maybe you should head down there and ask them if you can have it whenever they're done with it. A lot of times things like that just get thrown out. Don't get your hopes up. Somebody else has probably already got dibs on it.

I wonder if those good folks at Wal-Mart know that Kurt Busch won the race and not Jeff Gordon. I think I'm filing a complaint.

How frustrating. I waited 3 days to watch the highlights, and it was the Budweiser shootout that I already knew the result of. It looks like I won't get to see the 500 :(.

Did I miss some rule change where all the cars have to cover their bumpers with Velcro?. If not then they all must have spent their break reading their Bibles, especially the part about Noah's cargo traveling around in pairs. That leads to a follow-up question: do NASCAR drivers count as clean or unclean animals :).

Roger - I did think of that, but didn't know who to ask about the cardboard of Gordon...would really hate for them to just throw out such a great cardboard as that. Think it would look great in my living room...HA HA. And unless Gordon himself has a bubble surrounding him to put on Wal-Mart's Jeff Gordon oil change special advertising on, I am sure it wasn't Jeff himself. (Though would have even more excited if it was the real Jeff...until I stopped to think that he should be in Daytona if he is to race in the 500 on Sunday.)

I'm sure Wal-Mart is aware that your driver won the Budweiser Shootout, but they are even more aware of who is going to win Daytona 500 - NASCAR's Super Bowl race this upcoming Sunday. Jeff Gordon...going for his fourth Daytona 500 win. ;) (Plus they want to attract people to their store...they put a picture of Kurt Busch up, they're just bound to scare 'em all away!:escape: Sorry...I couldn't help myself.)

Hoss - I can gaurantee you that there is no valcro on the bumper of the cars and even though it would be good for them to read the Bible on their break, I am sure that is not where the two by two racing came from. I don't think they had expected all of this as much as we didn't expect it. It is bound to cause accidents...Jr wrecked his pole winning car today during practice to put him at the back of the field come the start of the Daytona 500 race due to the two by two racing.

You didn't miss anything, Hoss, as far as highlights go. The Daytona 500 race isn't until this upcoming Sunday so there wouldn't be any highlights as of yet for it...unless you get your highlights from the future. ;)

Talking about the 500...on lap three of the race they are going to have a lap of silence to honor the late Dale Earnhardt Sr who died ten years ago (Feb. 18 will be his official 10 year anniversary of his death.) He died in an accident on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 race where Michael Waltrip (Dale Sr owned his car) won the race being pushed by Dale Jr. Never was a big Dale Sr fan, but was sad to see him die like that and am glad to see NASCAR saluting a NASCAR legend like that.
