Jaime closed her eyes a moment before showing him the old scars on her wrists and the scar on her stomach from where she had been stabbed.

Luke's eyes raged with anger. "Yer tellin me...." he began slowly, "that you didn't make it....cuz of yer scars?!" He was visibly shaking with anger.

Jaime felt him trembling with anger and she pulled away from him, scared by the look in his eyes that she had once so often seen reflected in her mothers.

Luke swallowed hard not reaizing how angry he was becoming or how he was scaring Jaime. "If my foot'd let me Id go right down there an tell em what I think of that squad."

Jaime shuddered softly, wrapping her arms around her waist softly.

"It wasn't the whole squad...an' the coach didn't have a problem..was just a....a few of the girls...they voted on it an'...I didn't get a majority vote..."

"Those girls...what do they know.... there can't be one of em that can hold a candle to you Jaime...there just can't...."

Jaime shrugged, turning away from him a little.

"Don't matter....s'just a stupid team you didn't want me on anyway..."

"No I didn't....but I don't want ya hurt by anyone."

Jaime shook her head.

"Just a bunch o'girls with opinions..."

"Wrong opinions. I'm sorry they upset ya sweetheart."

Jaime didn't say anything, just continued to hug her own middle while her long hair hung down the sides of her face.

Luke just held her closer still. "I love you sweetheart."

Jaime rested her head against him softly, letting herself feel the love that Luke had to offer her.

"I love you too Daddy..."

Luke just hugged her tenderly, stroking her long hair, a smile on his lips.

That was how the doctor found them when she came in a few hours later. They had fallen asleep together, just holding each other gently and supportivly. Bo, Jesse and Daisy had all returned to the farm, knowing Luke would be okay and would come back to get Jaime when visiting hours were up which they nearly were.

She quietly walked over to Luke and started to check his foot to see how the swelling was doing.

Luke woke with a twinge of pain as she touched his foot, though he didn't cry out, knowing it would scare Jaime. "Hey there," he said softly. "So what's the verdict?"

The doctor looked to him with a smile.

"Well...your ready to be all casted up...and then you should be able to get outta here by tomorrow afternoon...possibly the morning if I ask nicely..."

Luke couldn't help smiling at her. "I don't suppose you'd ever make house calls?" he asked with a sly grin.

The doctor glanced back to him. folding her arms with a sly grin of her own.

"Well its not generally what I'm assigned to no...but who knows...maybe if it was REALLY important..."

Luke thought a moment. "Well...don't doctors usually request follow up appointments?" he asked with a smile.

The doctor raised her eyebrow with a small nod.

"It's possible...but then again that may not guarentee a house call...and I am usually very busy during the day..."

"Well...maybe you could manage a night...I ain't much of a cook, but I'm sure I could think of something to make your trip worthwhile."

The doctor bit her bottom lip a little, narrowing her eyes slightly but nodded.

"I'll see what I can do...meantime...is this Jaime?"

Luke swallowed as her eyes narrowed flushing as he realized how his invitation sounded...it wasn't what he intended at all, but he said only, "Yeah...s'Jaime."

The doctor chuckled, nodding softly as she looked the young girl over with kind eyes before noticing the scars on her wrists.

"They look like they were nasty...what happened..."
