"Meantime...I dont know how to keep her from being put back with her momma."

Jesse nodded with a smile.

"Well, lets just see what I can do...I'll go talk with her..."

Luke nodded a little and watched him go.

Jesse headed quietly into the room and went to the sleeping teenagers side softly.

Bo watched too, nodding a little.

"Well if Uncle Jesse can't do it, I guess I gotta take a turn huh?" He asked with a grin.

Luke shrugged. "If you like."

Bo nodded and chuckled

"And then we call in the last resort...."

Luke nodded. "Daisy probably would get further than any of us...bein a girl an all."

Bo nodded

"Yeah true..."

"Thanks Bo...for bein here..."

Bo looked to him with a smile, putting an arm around his shoulders gently.

"Anytime cousin...you know that..."

Luke returned his smile. "Yeah...I know...but...thanks just the same."

Bo nodded and returned to sitting with Luke in the waiting room for Uncle Jesse.

Near two months later, Bo was watching as Luke paced the floor of the living room and kept glancing out the window every two seconds. He chuckled gently and shook his head.

"Cousin would you relax...you pace anymore there ain't gonna be a floor to walk on an' the curtains gonna come off if you keep pullin' it back..."

"I can't help it Bo...you'd be doing the same thing if you was me..." replied Luke looking once more out the window.

Bo rolled his eyes a little and shook his head as he turned back to his magazine...today was the day...

Luke turned to his cousin. "Do...do I look ok?" He felt like he was getting ready for his first date, though he had never been this nervous around any girl before.

Bo sighed and put down his magazine, standing up and putting his hands on Luke's shoulders.

"Luke...you look fine...your hairs a mess like it always is an' yer shirt's unbuttoned like it should be...Jaime already likes ya the way ya are...if ya change she's gonna wonder where the heck you went..."

Luke sighed and nodded. "I'm so nervous..." he admitted, though any man with an eye on Luke could notice the obvious.

"You don't gotta be....everythin's done now...it's not like yer meetin' Jaime fer the first time..."

Bo said supportivley.

"You ain't gotta win her approval...you already got it.."

"But...it is the first time...in this way" insisted Luke. He sighed, knowing no one would ever understand the jumble of nerves working overtime inside of him. He glanced out the window. "Shouldn't they be here by now?! What if she changed her mind?"

Bo laughed

"Luke they got a couple o'minutes yet and if she changed her mind you woulda heard about it..."

"I suppose," answered Luke softly, starting to pace the floor again. "I reckon now I know what expectant fathers feel like."

Bo nodded a little, looking out the window as a car pulled up into the drive with a smile.

"Well there we are....she's here..."

"She's here?!" said Luke, going quickly to the door and near stumbling over his feet as he did.

Bo laughed a little as he followed and stood on the porch.

As Luke finally managed to stumble his way outside, Jaime was stepping out the back of the social worker's car and getting the bags out of the trunk.

He swallowed hard and gave Jaime an almost shy smile as he helped with the bags. he couldn't believe he had really done this. to be sure everyone he spoke to thought he was crazy...but it certainly wasn't anything that hadn't been said about Luke Duke before...or any Duke for that matter.
