Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning ( direct to DVD movie)
Divia replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Never liked the G rating myself. And lets be fair. How come I dont see half as many sexy men pics. Anyway, I am looking forwad to this movie. I want to see what it is about. If it sucks well, it was a direct to DVD movie. -
does anyone know how one judges if DVD sales are good? I mean this is a direct to DVD, so I was wondering. If it does well Im sure there could be others. That would be an interesting twist.
-
wow. It does look better than the movie. Oh the irony. I couldnt see it very well due to the fact I'm on dial up...but the actors look very much like the originals.

Of course there will be younger fans who do know there was a TV show. The same could be said when classic songs are remade by todays artists and people are like..oh its been redone? If the movie sucks no one will watch it or buy it and people will turn their noses up at it. ANd that will speak volumes. If its good and people like it that also speaks volumes. Cant judge something that hasnt been released yet. If people do not like the concept...then fine. If people are upset that there is no flag on the car...thats fine. Those people do not have to buy or watch the movie. But the key is to each their own. If people are intersted in it(like myself) then I am gonna see what its all about. I may like it I may hate it, but thats just the way it is. For some to say you are not a real fan becuase you dont...(fill in the blank) is getting to be tiresome. I have heard this with too many properties. Its like people want to prove they are a TRUE fan. But how does one define a true fan?

To each his own. Hell, I am still hoping they do a DOH Next Generation TV show. If we look at the 80s crazy a few years ago EVERY properity in one way or another was changed a bit. Most had updated looks. Check out MLP, He-Man, Transformers etc. They were altered someway. Thats just the way it goes. The majority of todays youth are not going to be rivited to the TV watching some stuff from the 80s. I'm sorry but its true. Most properities need to be updated...though carefully and they can appeal to both today and yesterday's fans. I am looking forward to this new direct to dvd movie. Do I have great hopes in it..no but I want to see what they do. Fretting over small things just isnt worth my time becuase in the end they will do whatever the hell they want to do with their properity.

What were you expecting an Epic Masterpiece like Citizen Kane...Gone with the Wind? Common is a direct to DVD movie with a small budget. Have any direct to DVD movies done well, save Disney? Still, I am curious and I shall see it. Hell, its only a few bucks to rent. I can spare that.

First, avatar regulations would be spectacular. Its getting quite tiresome to scroll over so that I may read everyones posts. Its just not you, but others. Second, all I said was maybe the flag will appear later. Maybe they have a reason it wasnt on in the first place...they didnt want it and then there was another orange car so they wanted the Gen Lee to stand out. I dunno. I'm just throwing it out there. Third, You're right I don't care if its on or not. If this was the movie I may be a little more upset about it, but its not. I doubt anyone will see this movie to begin with. It's important to pick the right battles, and I don't think that throwing a fit over the flag not being on the Gen. Lee in a direct to DVD movie is the right fight. If we have a movie 5 years from now and its not on the car then yes I will fight that battle. But not this one. People can like or dislike whatever they choose. If you want to hold firm to the Dukes as you remember them in the 80s so be it. There is nothing wrong with that. Personally, I like the TV show better than the movie. I did not like the drugs and whatnot. However, that being said, I often wonder what would have happened if Dukes had stayed a little more hardcore like in the first couple of episodes. If people want an updated Dukes well so be it. Its personal taste. Besides, I do not recall a lot of protest about the flag on the Gen Lee in the movie. There were some grumblings but no protests like the last Temptation of Christ...nothing like that. Were there even boycotts?

Only time will tell I fear. As for Daisy being blonde in the 05 movie. Well, maybe she got her hands on some hair coloring. -
I have other hissy fits to throw. But the thing is we do not know why its not on there. Could it come later? We do not know. No sense in fighting an enemy if they are not the enemy.
-
Are you saying I do not have principles? I hope not. Anyway, one day I will also have a G. Lee and I have every intention of having it like the original flag and all. As for it not being in this movie, it maybe later, or it may not be at all. I dunno what is happening with this. Its a wait and see thing. Do I wish to see it on there? Yes. Will I throw a hissy fit if it is not? Nope. I need to see what the story is behind no flag before I do anything.
-
Yes, I know all that. But when did they get the General Lee. How old were they? Was it before of after they were put on probation? I always assumed they were older? Besides, this whole flag thing is a bit much. I mean how many people do you honestly believe will see this movie? Its a direct to DVD. Maybe it will appear later. Maybe there is a reason it isnt on in the shots we saw.

I"ll see if I can download it or not. But I had a thought. I remember the dukes getting the general lee later...or were they young teens when they got it? I dont remember the episode.

That Enos is hot. And I for one am looking forward to seeing him in his uniform! 8) 8) Anyway, its true that some people are just too uptight about these classic shows. Granted, I did think the movie was trash, but in no way do I want to see the original cast trying to slide across the Gen. Lee and break a hip. I'm sorry but its time for them to move on. The woman who plays Daisy..forgot her name...is seriosuly too large to be considered sexy. Argue with me all you want, but its true. I dont want a skinny chick with bones, but I also dont want one who is rather large. If there was going to be a next generation show then I think the original cast should come back, or some of them, but is that going to happen? No, even if I want it to. So there is nothing we can do. If you don't want to watch the movie then don't. But I"m interested in it, though I do know direct to DVD movies tend to suck, I still want to give it a go. Maybe it will be like one of those TV movie speicals. Those aren't so bad...sometimes....... -
I think a prequel could work. But, everyone has such a bad taste in their mouths from the last movie, that I think a lot of people will shy away from it. Add to that this movie will be a direct to DVD, which almost always spells doom. I think the only direct to DVDs that do well are Disney ones and, well thats cuase its disney and little kids whine until their parents give in. If we could wait a few years, then do a prequel with an entirely different cast I think it might be worth a shot.
-
A prequel could be cool. Get some teeangers to do it. This would work great if they every wanted to make a tv show...I know no one but me wants to see this...but I do. A direct to DVD sounds bad though. The budget will be nothing Im guessing. If it was a movie with a decent budget then that would be even better!

What I really want to see is a DOH the next generation TV show. Why? Cause I want to see the fast cars, crazy car chases and stuff like that. I miss it. I'm sick of comedies with pretty girls living in apartments they could never afford in NYC. I guess thats one reason I'm looking forward to Heist. Looks like there could be some cool car chases in that.

Hmm. A couple of years could mean 10 or 20. Who really knows. I'd love to see another DOH movie, but I think they have to let the bad press from this one die down first. I dunno.

I'm interested to see what happens. I wouldnt mind seeing a whole new cast, different director and the same kickbutt stunts. I'm still waiting for my DOH the next generation TV series. -
Much needed a forum for books recently read by members

I just finished Rebel Angels the sequel to A Great and Terrible Beauty. Very good. I'm currently reading Properity and its an OK read so far. It only has 150 pages or something like that. -
I'm sooo getting this. The later episodes are the ones I remember loving as a kid. I can't wait to see them. Now, how about some Enos DVDs.........

rumors of a new movie what do you thank
Divia replied to dukesran1's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Hmm. Just cuase they said they wanted to make another movie doesnt mean they will. I'd love to see a new one..with a new cast...better producer etc. etc. However, I think the damange is already done. I dunno if they dare..and if they do they might not try it for a few years. -
Poor Dukes. It could have been so good with a different director, cast and well...if it had just plain been a different movie.

Fate of Dukes Movie Sequel dangles by DVD Sales
Divia replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Until I get an offical release I tend not to believe anything on the net. I think the majority of us wanted Devito to play Boss Hogg, but what is the likelyhood? Are people just starting up rumors to get people's hopes up that there will be a sequel?? -
Fate of Dukes Movie Sequel dangles by DVD Sales
Divia replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
I went to wal mart the other day for another movie and I saw that DOH was only 13 bucks. Could be just me but I dont think that's good. Is it? I dont' know. Maybe they are just trying to get rid of some of 'em??? As for a sequel..sure I"m for it. If they change everything...except for the car chases and jumps and they actually try to make it more like the TV show. Sure you can take out some of the campiness and make it a tad more realistic but lets try to stick to the original properity as much as possible....and frankly if they got a whole new cast I think it would a good thing for them.
