  1. Just want to remind ya'll, "Hazzard Comes to Galax" is coming up fast! The shindig is in Galax, Virginia, June 2nd. One day only, so plan your travel time accordingly!

Our crazy friends from the North East Ohio Dukes will be doing a car stunt show, plus there's cast appearances by dang near everybody. In fact, it's easier to tell you who's NOT going to be there, namely Tom and Cathy. Everybody else from the principal cast is on board.

You can check out the details here!

  2. CD, does being able to stay later really matter all that much to you and your friend? If she's OK with having to leave with you at the curfew, there's no need for a fake ID.

Coming from a background of mixed moral experience myself, lemme tell you this. Before you bend or break any rule of any kind...decide if it's really worth it. Even if you're willing to get a fake ID, so you and your friend can have a nice time and not have to leave early...there's always a risk that somebody could rat you out. If you're caught, instead of having a nice memory together, you'll have embarrasment at the least.

Once you earn a reputation of being deceitful, even if it's a modest infraction, it's very, very, hard to correct that opinion.

Doing dishonest things, for a "good" reason, seldom brings good results.

That said, I won't judge either way. I just encourage you to listen to the better side of yourself. I'm willing to bet that your friend would rather you be honest. So would I. You'll have moral tests throughout your life, and by making the right decisions now, you'll be more inclined to keep making the right decisions all the way. Life turns out better when you do.

Thanks for sharing this with us and letting us chime in.

  3. I agree with much that's already been said by ya'll. In comment to TimDuke's post, they could get around the Charger thing if the story was more "prequel" in nature.

For me it's hard to imagine Bo and Luke driving anything else, but depending what timeline is involved, they could show the Dukes driving some other car. Whatever they were driving when they got busted for hauling moonshine would have been confiscated anyhow.

And if you go strictly off the episode of "Happy Birthday General Lee", the General entered their lives some point after the moonshine hauling days were done.

  4. As posted by one of our members elsewhere in the forums, and thereby enticing me to post it here, since the last thing I posted was about the Dukes NOT being on the air, so....by the time I say this it's probably gonna change again. Where was I. Oh yeah!

The Dukes are supposedly on CMT on Thurs May 17, starting at 4:00 eastern, for a 4-episode, prime-time, mini-marathon!

When are the Dukes on CMT next, after that? Don't hold yer breath, but per one of the TV listing websites, it looks like they might also be on May 30th, but as of that date it's back to the 1:00 a.m. time slot.

As always I'll do my best to keep ya'll updated!

  5. Unfortunately the CMT schedule just got changed...AGAIN. Seriously. Last night it said the Dukes would air on May 22.

Now on CMT's tv show page, it shows the Dukes airing on May 26. With a different episode.

It's as if CMT is pretending the Dukes are still on their schedule, but they're not showing it. They keep pushing out the next airdate over and over. At the same time, each episode is ticking down in the sequence of days as if it's been run all the while.

My guess is, they'll tick down to the last episode of the 7th season, and then? Who knows.

This leaves me no choice but to assume CMT isn't airing the Dukes in the forseeable future. If I find out anything more one way or the other, I'll let you know.

  6. It looks like CMT has pushed the Dukes off the schedule again. I hope it's not permanent, but it seems like every week, I see the Dukes scheduled on the national listings for the following week. Then when that week comes, this listings change again there's that dumbass "singing bee" or something instead.

CMT's Dukes Facebook page has not had an update in several weeks. CMT's main website has also played bait-and-switch; I've seen them list the Dukes for earlier this month, and now, amazingly, they're not being aired for another two weeks. Currently, they have the next Dukes episode airing on May 22nd at 1:00 a.m. eastern.

I do my best to keep ya'll updated on Dukes of Hazzard airings, but the schedule changes have been happening with such frequency that I'm not confident of the May 22 airing. We'll have to wait and see.

  7. I finally remembered to watch the interview that Brian posted (thanks for the link, Brian). Just over halfway through Tom mentions that he does 'Trouble' from 'The Music Man' as a duet with John. For those of you that don't know, the movie version of 'The Music Man' was filmed in Hazzard Square, aka. Warner Bros' Midwest Street.

That's a fun coincidence, ain't it? Good info Hoss!

Ya know, I think Tom and John should put together thier own Broadway musical based on The Dukes of Hazzard. (Let's see if I can speak that one into existence! Heh heh.) Not sure how you'd pull off a car chase in a musical, though.

  8. I bet I know why you find it's so cool that he owns a farm... it's a hop, skip, and jump from where you live ;) or at least in the same state.

And Delaware does have several farms, thank you very much!

I suppose that passionate discussion about cheese a few months back was sort of a giveaway.

Anyhow, I was glad to know Tom owns the family farm, because he left home fairly young, and had this whirlwind success early in his career. He's lived in TN, NY, and who knows where else. It's good to know he hasn't forgotten his roots.

Delaware had 2,400 farms as of 2002, but post-recession I'm afraid that number has shrank like it has in many states. Looks like ya'll are heavy on the soybeans.

  9. I did not know Tom owned a farm. Very interesting. I wonder what state it's in. It would be so cool to live in the same state! Unfortunately Delaware is too small for that to realistically happen, but still, it would be so cool!

If you had a farm in Delaware, there wouldn't be room for anything else.

If you watch the video, you'll figure out his home state. Heck, if you read the post you can probably figure out his home state. That's where the family farm is that he now owns. One clue: MOOO!

I shared that video interview on Tom's FB page and I couldn't help teasing him a bit, since he said he's 60 now and still has the family farm. I'm like, "Dude! You're your own Uncle Jesse!" Heh heh.

  10. I visited Virginia nearly 30 years ago and I don't remember the accent being particularly difficult to understand.

Closer to the state line with D.C., I noticed the accents weren't as pronounced. But out in the rural areas, they could get pretty interesting.

British accents are a blast. I think I found Monty Python shows so funny because they had these refined-sounding accents, but they were saying completely ridiculous things.

From this comic example, British slang sounds like a complete hoot. Proof that English can still be incomprehensible, even if you speak the same language.

  11. In this casual, behind-the-scenes interview published May 2nd, Tom Wopat talks about his formative years at the music program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also spills the beans about the plans to do some casino concert gigs with John, and possibly do an album together.

Tom also talks about his home state a bit. I dunno about ya'll, but I think it's way cool that a Dukes of Hazzard cast member actually owns a farm.

  12. If you really wanna change it up, make sure you have about three pieces of chewing gum in your mouth at the same time. I tried to talk to a guy from Tennessee once, and between the twang of his words and the gum he was chewing, it sounded like he had a mouthful of rubber bands. Plus he'd lived up north for awhile so he was talking 90 miles an hour.

Fortunately I found an interpreter from Kentucky and I managed to get an answer to my question.

    Ah nevah drawl mahself, tho'.

And now I'd better shut up. Back to our program!

  13. This is why we need ta gang up and git right after CMT fer dis! I only watch CMT just for DOH, instead they provide other (weirded out wacky) shows'n just ain't gittin a lickin of laughter!

Yep, yer from Virginia. I'd recognize the dialect anywhere.

When I visited Virginia the first time, I didn't speak the language. I had trouble communicating at a truck stop restaurant.

It started when the waitress was describing appetizer specials. She asked if we wanted to try their "onion pills."

I was like, "Onion..pills?" Picturing tiny, pea-sized onions deep fried into a speck.

    She's like, "No, piieeeels!"

Oh! Onion Peels. Ok. Yes, onion pills all around. I managed the universal translation for "hamburger" and got that ordered. Then she asks what I want to drink. She says:

"We gaht Coke, Sprite, rit beir and arnge."

    Wait...what was that last one?

    "ARNGE!"

I looked at her blankly. She huffs and goes, "Arnge! You know, like, arnge cree-ush!"

Orange Crush! I'm learning. To pay it safe, though, I had a Coke.

  14. I hope they do make another Dukes movie. The clue that stands out to me, is that the story is talking place in the 1970's. I'm not sure if they'll call this Dukes or if it'll be sort of a prequel story. But dating the story like this would allow them to be more true to the original series in look and feel.

Some of the attempts to modernize the show, even in the TV reunion movies with the original cast, always felt a little weird. I dunno about ya'll but seeing a fax machine in the Dukes farmhouse was weird. Seeing Rosco use an ATM was weird. The 2005 movie (not bashing, just saying) was again, for me....weird.

If Warner Bros goes for this as a Dukes movie, I'll be all for it, and I'm willing to bet it blows the roof off the box office. Heck, I hope they put Bubba Watson in the movie as Luke Duke.

  15. Here we go again! This is hot off the press from the Hollywood Reporter. As of this time we have zero confirmation about this WB/Jody Hill project actually being a Dukes of Hazzard movie. But we can't ignore the possibility.

Back when the rumors started for the 2005 Dukes movie, (maybe it was 2003 at the time) and Britany Spears was being considered for Daisy, we were the first Dukes website with the dirt. So in that fine tradition of rumor, speculation and no-holds-barred reckless reporting, we're passing this along.

See the homepage article and HR link here.

Feel welcome to add your thoughts!

  16. I wonder if the Family Channel ever aired it in my area...never seemed to find it on the listings. But if it was on so infrequently it's no wonder. Thanks for the info CountryGirl.

Capt, you're talking me into getting an antenna for digital broadcast tv. I let cable go last year and I haven't missed it too much. But if TNN gets picked up in my area I'll be looking into this. Got my fingers crossed.

I also think it'll be good news for Nashville - that town used to enjoy incredible advertising and tourism while TNN was on the air. Since Ben Jones has a Dukes store/museum in Nashville he could benefit from a revived TNN as well. I wonder if we'll see commercials for Cooter's Place on TV?

Hmm. Maybe we'll see commercials for HazzardNet on tv. Gotta talk to Mufn about our budget...
