  1. Maybe we'll see the characters "Cletus Hogg" and "Sheriff Ed Little" debut in the new movie's sequel. Like me, many of you all are probably wondering right now if there will indeed be one. Well, from the sources that I've spoken to who where there in Louisiana on the set, it has already been stated that all of the Lees that were still in "decent" shape, would indeed be retained by the film's possible sequel. I really think that we'll see a sequel because I feel that this film is going to succeed at the box-office. Hey, if Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville decide that they don't want to participate in a sequel, do you think that we'll see the characters "Coy and Vance Duke" come into the picture? I'm only kidding, but wouldn't that be funny?! GADuke01
  2. Willie really isn't that bad of a choice for Jesse Duke at all. However, I also feel that Robert Duvall, or possibly Donald Sutherland would have been good choices for the role as well. GADuke01
  3. The '99 Charger concept looks a heck of a lot more like a 2nd-generation Charger than the actual '06 production car does. Although it is a 4-door sedan like the '06 production car, the '99 concept hides it's rear doors a lot better and is still recognizable as a Charger. How can you look at the '99 concept and not see any styling references to those of 1968 thru 1970 model? Look at the "hips" of the '99 concept, the rear of the car is absolutely screaming 2nd-generation Charger! What I'm saying is that basically, the '99 Charger concept was designed with the older cars in mind. It's "coke-bottle" styling definately pays respect to the models of the late 1960s/ early 1970s. The '06 production Charger looks basically like a re-shaped Chrysler 300. DCX could have, and without a doubt, should have produced a car worthy of wearing the "Charger" nameplate. GADuke01
  4. To have the General Lee as anything but a 1969 Dodge Charger would be a huge mistake. Fortunately, Warner Bros. and Hollywood knows this in regards to the new Dukes movie and the Lee will remain a 1969 Charger. As for the 2006 Charger, it was rumored at one point that DCX would feature the car at some point in the new Dukes movie. However, I recently heard that DCX decided not to showcase the car in the new movie. I really think that they made a wise move. With all of the bad press that this current '06 Charger has getting, the last thing that DCX would want to do is have it on the same screen with 1969 model. People would see the Lee on screen and say, "Wow, now that's a REAL Charger. What's this other 4-door thing again?" The '06 Charger is probably going to turned out being a car of great quality, but I still don't feel that the car deserves the "Charger" name. They should have called it the '06 Dodge Monaco. Afterall, Mercury did bring back the Montego name for '05. I really think that all Charger fans would have preferred the '99 concept over this new re-worked Chrysler 300 that's wearing the "Charger" nameplate. The '99 concept was a beutiful car. It combined a lot of "heritage" looks into an all new car. Now that I think about it, that Stratus coupe pictured above has more of a Charger-look to it than the actual '06 Charger that's going to be released does. All I can say is: Long live the General Lee!!! GADuke01
  5. What the heck? I say keep the same original theme song! Afterall, to this very day, "Good 'ol Boys" is Waylon Jennings' best selling single! However, if they must have to have the song re-recorded, they really should let Willie Nelson record it. Aside from being in the movie, remember, Willie was one of the original "Outlaws" as well. I just think "Good 'Ol Boys" wouldn't quite have the same feel with one of country music newer stars performing it GADuke01
  6. Hey "generalfan01", if you scroll down and check out some of the topics listed below, you'll find some really good photos taken from several of the new movie's locations there in Louisiana. GADuke01
  7. The Confederate flag on top of the General Lee being a topic of debate is absolutely ridiculous. That flag is a symbol of racism only when it is put in the hands of racists and that's very unfortunate. Most people, as well as groups that protest and see the Confederate flag as a symbol of hatred and segregation have absolutely no idea of what that flag originally stood for or represented. It's a shame. To say that the General Lee or The Dukes of Hazzard represents racism is totally absurd. It really irritates me when I read articles or reviews that refer to The Dukes of Hazzard as being racist. Where are these writers getting their information? It's obvious that none of them ever watched an episode of the original show. They simply recognized that the General Lee had a Confederate flag on the roof and in their narrow minds, it had to mean that the Dukes were racists. Give me a break. If the Confederate flag was absent from the General Lee's roof in the new movie, well then, they simply couldn't have referred to the car as the General Lee. That would be like making a new Lone Ranger movie and not having the main character wear a mask. When rumors first started to get out about the new Dukes movie, I heard everything from the Confederate flag being replaced by the American flag, to having no flag at all. I'm just glad that they did the right thing and kept the Confederate flag. Like I said, without it, it's just not the General Lee. Merry Christmas! GADuke01
  8. I've heard that the flag will be replaced toward the end of the film by a sign that reads "Save Hazzard". Again, this is hearsay, but it was said that the "Save Hazzard" sign would be part of the storyline where the Dukes campaign to save the county from corrupt county commisioner, J.D. Hogg. Has anybody else heard anything similar to this? GADuke01
  9. I've heard that they're planning on releasing the film nationally towards the end of July 2005. GADuke01
  10. It sounds to me like Johnny Knoxville doesn't want anybody to know just where it is that he is actually staying. It seems like he's told at least three different people that he's staying at three different places. I can definately understand why he would do that. GADuke01
  11. When CMT starts airing original episodes of "The Dukes of Hazzard" next month, I feel that the same exact thing is going to happen again just like it did when the old TNN aired the Dukes back in 1996. Dukes-mania!!! An entirely new generation was introduced to the Dukes in 1996 and I'm sure that we'll all see the same thing happen once again. Just think of all of the new Dukes-related merchandise that hit in late '90s because of the show's rebirth in popularity. Having the Dukes on the air again prior to the release of the new movie will definately help the new movie when it is released. What do you think? GADuke01
  12. The early rumors that I heard regarding the casting of Lynda Carter was that her character was to be "Jesse Duke's girlfriend". Has anyone else heard this? GADuke01
  13. All of the squad cars that were used in the original series were either Plymouths or Dodges. They also used a few AMC Matadors as well just after the series relocated from Georgia to California. I'll certainly miss seeing all of those familiar old patrol cars from the series, but I'll have to agree with "traveler150" about updating the cars. If the movie is supposed to take place in 2005, you have to do it. That's what always seemed strange about the first "Hazzard Reunion" that aired back in 1997. Although, the reunion show was taking place in 1997, Rosco and Cletus were still driving Plymouth/Dodge squad cars that were 20 or so years old. Hazzard County's economy wasn't that bad was it? GADuke01
  14. After reading about how Jessica Simpson has been acting towards some of the locals there in Louisiana, I think that it's a real shame. Afterall, like most people in the entertainment business, especially the recording industry, a majority of the fame and popularity is owed to the people that helped bring success to an artist in the first place, the fans. So far, it just sounds like Simpson feels as if she's above the average person and seems very unappreciative. However, I am pleased to hear that all of the other cast members have been so sociable and outgoing when meeting and greeting the fans. Take it easy! GADuke01
  15. For those of you that have met or seen Knoxville, Scott, or Simpson in person, how tall in height would would you say that each of them are in comparison with the original Dukes. I do remember hearing Jessica Simpson saying on one of the talk a couple of months ago that she would love to be 5'7. Thanks again for all of the info! GADuke01
  16. Although actress Jessica Biel would have been my first choice for the role of Daisy Duke, I really think that Kate Beckinsale would have been a great choice also. GADuke01
  17. Jesse Duke - Robert Duvall or Donald Sutherland * Both are great actors and can be very stern like Denver Pyle. Boss Hogg - Danny DeVito * A logical choice, maybe that's why he wasn't cast. Also, a good actor. Rosco Coltrane - Burt Reynolds, possibly Robin Williams * Burt will probably do a great job as Boss Hogg, but I think the character of Rosco would have suited him better. Robin probably could have nailed all of James Best's "Rosco-isms" as well. Bo Duke - Paul Walker * Walker is a car guy. He also can handle a car pretty well. He also looks the part of Bo Duke. Luke Duke - Matthew McCougnahey * Is there any actor any cooler than McCougnahey? Luke Duke was a cool character and I feel that McCounahey, with his good 'ol boy attitude would have been a perfect choice as Luke. Also, he's a little older than Paul Walker. Daisy Duke - Jessica Biel * First and foremost, Biel is an actress. It also doesn't hurt that she's a brunette and is very shapely. I think she would have made a great Daisy Duke. Cooter Davenport - Travis Tritt / Larry the Cable Guy * Depending on just how that role Cooter is written, either one of these two guys would have been decent choices, although Tritt looks more the part of Cooter. Enos Strate - Luke Wilson * I think Wilson would have been a choice to portray good-hearted deputy Enos Strate. I think that he would have brought a lot of what Sonny Shroyer did to that character. Cletus Hogg - Kevin James ("King of Queens") * James would have been a great Cletus. He's a funny guy and round like any member of the Hogg family should be. Aside from casting unknowns as the Dukes (which I think would have worked), this was my original casting choices for the new movie. GADuke01
  18. Do you guys really think that they would want to be in this movie? I'm asking simply because of the fact that everything I've read where either John or Tom are asked about the new movie, it seems like both guys want nothing to do with it. However, Catherine Bach seems to be the one original cast member who seems to support the film, often saying that she'll be glad to lend Jessica Simpson any advice that she might need in portraying Daisy Duke. I've recently heard a rumor that Ben Jones has been cast as a mayor of a "neighboring county" to Hazzard in the new film. Can anybody confirm this? If this is true, I'm really shocked because out of all of the original cast members, Ben has been the primarily the one voicing out against the new movie from the beginning. If John or Tom did happen to make cameos in the new film, I would have them steal the General Lee in the very last scene and drive off into the sunset! It would be pretty neat to see them drive away in what's rightfully theirs. GADuke01
  19. I just joined the message board here and wanted to thank everyone for posting all of the neat photos from the new movie's set. This is a great Dukes-related site! GADuke01
