  1. Yeah HNet's been around in various stages since about 1997. Of which we're proud to be able to say that! Kheeehaaa!!
  2. That's kee-rect. I believe the magic number is 100 posts.... So keep postin' Brandy!
  3. Under the character desription we have on the site (under the section called Original Series) I put that Rosco had a CB handle in one episode. I can't remember the episode off hand (I think it's the Christmas one) but there's a scene where Jesse is calling for "Bear and Chief" on the CB and he's calling for Rosco and Boss. Of course, Boss had several other "handles" for Rosco include cowchip, lamebrain, peabrain, ect...
  4. Don't sweat it. 8) We certainly don't discourage public service announcements that might effect the folks that visit HNet. I've found the Snopes site to be very helpful in debunking a lot of the hoaxes and stuff that come through email and separating out the real from the phoney.
  5. Howdy y'all! Well I dunno about y'all but I'm tired of seein' that the most users ever on HNet was 35, set back in February of 2005. So I'm issuing a challenge to all our users out there! Every night this week I wanna see as many users as possible here at HNet. I know most of you visit the place in the evening hours so I'm gonna set the time between 7 and 11 pm. Now, obiviously I don't expect all of ya to hang around for 4 hours to add to the numbers but...you're welcome to. LOL. Actually, you don't even have to post anything, just be at the forums page. You could have HNet open in another browser while you continue doing yer thing. Okay, I'm probably asking too much but....dang that 35 is just buggin' me. LOL. So what do ya say folks? Let's see if we can break the record! MaryAnne
  6. The news item you link to is valid, however, I believe what MSN is doing is they're going to offer premium services and what not with their emails. Yahoo already does this. They still have free accounts or you can pay for email to get more storage space and more spam filter crap. According to the article you link, Hotmail will remain a free service. Now, as for the email you got about MSN closing down and asking people to forward some message to 15 other MSN users in order to keep their account is complete baloney! This is nothing more than another attempt at a long standing internet hoax that's been going around the various internet providers for the past five years.... http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/overload.asp Your message specifically is mentioned here... http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/im.htm
  7. UPDATED: March 2006 **Please note the updates for rule 1, 3, 5 and new addition of #7.** 1. ANYONE may participate. (If you're lookin' to restrict a Round Robin, yer in the wrong section of town. LOL). However, there are times in a story when dialoge or action will go back and forth between two or more characters/authors for a scene. Please adhere to rules of the cue. If you weren't cued, don't post until such time as the cue is opened to anyone. Authors need to remember tho', do not abuse the rule of the cue by trying to monopolize the story this way. 2. Posts to the story are strongly encouraged follow that which has been previously written, in order to maintain continiuity. However, no one person may dominate the story by telling everyone else what to post. The whole point of a Round Robin is to come up with something in which the other participants must react to, and so on. Don't be predictable...but don't write something so far off that it's unrecognizable as to how it fits in with the rest of the story. 3. Please don't post your greivances about a particular RR (whatever the grievence may be) within the story thread of that particular RR. It's really distractin' to the story. Disputes over posts should be resolved with the participants if possible and should be done off the boards and NOT within the story thread. If agreement can not be reached, then the dispute will be brought before an administrator (myself, for example). If there is a request to delete a particular post it will be put to a vote by all those who have participated in the RR, providing all members have included an authentic email address at which they can be contacted at in their profile (the email does not have to be "public." As administrator, I can see everyone's emails.) No real email, no vote. All voting is done off the boards with each participant emailing their vote to the administrator. The administrator will then tally the votes and make the decision on a majority rules basis. 4. It is up the participants of the RR's (particularly the individual who started the RR) to archive their fics to be placed in the Round Robin section of the Fanfic section of Hazzardnet.com (if they wish to do this). This includes compling all posts into a single file, editing the posts together to make the story flow and crediting all participants of the RR. 5. Original characters from the show are "open" for anyone to use in their posts. For example, say I (MaryAnne) write a post with Rosco (duh. LOL). Anybody else can post a few lines from Rosco as well. HOWEVER...if, say, Bo and Luke are currently involved in a scene at the courthouse, or they're in jail, don't go posting in your post that they're suddenly back at the farm or at the Boar's Nest. Remember, folks, continuity!! 6. Fanfiction characters are exclusive to their authors only. Don't post anything with another person's character without asking permission first. Co-authored posts are allowed. 7. Please try to keep the language to a minimum (the popular Coltranese of *$(%!*% always works nice. LOL). Also, please be aware that we have a wide range of age groups that visit this site. Please keep your stories within the G to PG13 range. Slash fiction is not allowed here at HNet. 8. Rules are subject to revisions and changes as needed.
  8. Ok, as a moderator I'll chime in on this... First...you do realize this is a Dukes of Hazzard site right? 8) I noticed on the Gorillaz site they have a forum like we do and they have a FanArt section (with fanfiction too). What problem did you run into? I'm surprised based on what I saw that there would be any issue with doing fanfic but then again I don't know what the direct issue was. I'm hesitant to allow non-DOH related fics to start appearing here because then....well...why would we call the site a Dukes of Hazzard fan site? It'd be like one us going over to the Gorillaz site and trying to post DOH fics over there. Doesn't really make sense and probably wouldn't be very well accepted. What you and rockthecasbah could do is start your own forum. Proboards has a fairly simple and free forum thingy... http://www.proboards.com/index.html Of course, if you were to cross over Gorillaz with the Dukes of Hazzard then posting here wouldn't be an issue. But if you're looking to just do fics for the Gorillaz band and post them here....I have to say no. Also....could y'all maybe use the PM feature for the personal type "hello, are you there? please don't leave me, why are you going?" type posts? It would be appreciated. MaryAnne
  9. Howdy Cooter 11-x, welcome to HNet! We have no real prerequisites here....if you have a story you want to share, by all means start posting! If you're looking for feedback but don't want folks to post in the same thread you're posting your story in, make sure you set up a seperate thread for remarks. Or however you wish, perhaps you'd rather have folks respond within the thread itself. Anyway, just keep in mind that you may get a lot of hits to the thread but not a lot of feedback. This does not necessarily mean that folks don' t like what you've written. It more than likely means that they're all just too lazy to respond. Which reminds me....folks, if you like something somebody's written, you'd be amazed how much a simple "Hey I like this!" type comment is worth to a writer. Don't be stingy. MaryAnne
  10. Got another one for ya... Working together as a team can acheive amazing results Khee! (Before anyone asks...Yes I do have some DOH images to use too, but I think this is mostly going to be caps I've pulled from a few of my other favorite tv shows and movies. LOL)
  11. Yeah, 216 is the final count for DOH votes. If you read the front page of that site it says that only votes for shows in their top 40 list will be counted and all votes for other shows won't be counted. So basically we put in a good effort but alas, it was not meant to be. Too bad we didn't know about the site earlier because it wouldn't have taken us long to blow the vote total for DOH out of the water (heck, look at what we had accomplished in that one week before the rules were changed. We went from what...7? to 216. Kheehaaa!! LOL) Next time someone spots another tv vote like this one, we'll rally 'round the ol' rebel flag again.
  12. DOHFF is proud to sponser another fanfic challenge! During the month of March, we're looking for stories about LUCK! Good luck....or the lack of it! From lady luck to potluck to hard luck, show us how luck has been treating somebody in Hazzard! Happy writing, and.....Good Luck! We'd like some stories by March 17th, but we'll be taking submissions through out the month. http://www.dukesofhazzardfanfic.com MaryAnne
  13. While Brian has his Meaningless Motivational Minute...I'd thought I would add my own screwball touch with a few illustrated day-to-day survival tips. Today's tip... Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer Khee!
  14. Rosc----uh... I'll even this up. Bo.
  15. MaryAnne replied to reesie's topic in Chat Times
Hey folks, it's about 20 minutes to 8pm, eastern....there's a few of us in the chat room right now. C'mon on in!!
  16. Well I went to cast my vote just now and it looks like the site, after five years of open nominations, is going into plan B, which is to narrow the list down to the top 40. So voting has been suspended for now. I have no idea if after our rally this past week if DOH made it to the top 40. I'm hoping we did! We'll see when they unveil plan B. Let's keep our fingers crossed! 8) MaryAnne
  17. Thank ya LS3! I knew somebody would know.
  18. That's "The Runaway." I know who you're thinkin' of but that's not Robert Stack. I don't know the actors name off hand but it's the same guy that played Colonel Decker on the A-Team.
  19. Howdy there Good kneeeeews! LOL Lessee if I can answer any of these...... How many episodes did James Best not act in, and who played the replacement? I've seen a few and each of them have had different "guest" sherriff. Well, we had Sheriff Grady Byrd (Dick Sargent) for two episodes, Sheriff Buster Moon (James Hampton) for one episode, Huey substituted for one episode and Sheriff Lester Crabtree (Clifton James) for yet another episode. So that's....five...and then I think there's one more that Rosco was missing from but I don't think it was due to any contract dispute. I can't remember the episode but it's one with Cletus and he had to put up with Emery Potter and Wilbur Somethingorother as deputies. ROFL. How many episodes was Huey Hogg in, and we're they in several close seasons or spaced out over the entire run? I think it spans at least a couple of seasons. Off the top of my head I can think of "Uncle Boss" "Hughie Hogg Strikes Again" "Arrest Jesse Duke" (which is the Rosco-replacement episode noted above) "The Return of Hughie Hogg" and "When You Wish Upon a Hogg." Oh! There's a Coy and Vance episode too....of which the title escapes me but Rosco's running for re-election and Boss drops his support for Rosco and backs Hughie because Hughie is blackmailing Boss. How many shows did Cooter sit out, due to contract blah blah? Ahh...again I'm going off memory here but I think it's about three maybe four. I know LB Davenport was on twice, "The Runaway" and "Duke of Duke." Then there was BB Davenport in "Grannie Annie" I almost think there's one more episode but I could be wrong. Noteable guest appearance happend often with the celebrity speed trap, but how many other notable actors appeared as henchmen characters. I noticed Robert Stack in an episode, also Richard Mull (Bull from nightcourt) was a reacurring character as one of the Baudry's. Robert Stack?! What episode? LOL Tim O'Connor, Robert Alda, Morgan Woodward (twice...Cacious Clayburn...what we have here is a failure to demonstrate... ROFL) Arte Johnson as one of the Laurel and Hardy bank robbers. (Best known from Laugh-In "Verrrrrrrry interwesting.....but stoopid!") That's all I can think of off hand. LOL Hope this helps!
  20. Well I submitted a vote last night and one again this morning and it's still only showing 17 votes. Unless they haven't updated the tally yet. Still tho' I put a thing on the front page of HNet telling fans to git on over and vote!
  21. Hi folks, I posted this on the front page as well but in case none of y'all go that way (and why not?? LOL).... http://www.thecheappop.com/wopat.html
  22. One of my favorite Bo lines is from "To Catch a Duke" after Cletus gives the boys a ticket for fishing with an expired license and they go into town to complain to Rosco. As they're crossing the street to the courthouse, Bo says in a mocking tone... "I'm gonna have to give you boys a ticket!" Then earlier when the boys are fishing... Bo: "I wish Flash were here tho'." Luke: "Why's that?" Bo: "Then we could have catfish and hushpuppies."
