MonacoMan got a reaction from Boss JD Hogg in Pilot Anniversary!
Boss & Rosco had a great routine down...very Abbot & Costello, Hazzard style!
As for Hazzard in California looking like Walnut Grove in “Little House” (which was also not supposedly set in California either), that’s because it was the same background! Both were filmed (at least some parts of the shows) on the same backlots with the countryside setting. Although the town sets and interiors of places were I think on different lots/sound stages.
I remember in an interview with John Schneider and Tom Wopat, they were talking about one time they snuck one of the General Lees out on a joyride around the studio set when they weren’t supposed to—and they got too close to the house used as the blind school on “Little House”, and it damaged it. They were laughing at how mad the producers of each show were, lol!

It's hard for me to pick a favorite episode but the first one is probably it. Those first 5 are all so great. Don't really have a favorite character since they were all so great!! If I had to choose it would be Daisy tho ❤️ I went to Duke fest in 06 and 07 in Nashville.  Catherine was so great and really seemed to love being there. I have met Sonny several times and John several times. Met Catherine one time and met Byron one time. Also met Sherriff Little and James Best once. Have met Rick Hurst a couple of times and Ben several times. I have never got to meet Tom and would like to get his autograph under my deck lid one day. I have all the seasons from when they first put them out on DVD and I have a complete series still in the shrink wrap. I have probably 4 DVD sets of season 1 since I watch that season the most. Got several totes full of collectibles from the show. I like anything from the 80's and have a little bit of everything from Transformers and Masters of the universe and some knight rider stuff.  Mostly dukes and transformers make up the biggest part of my toy collection.  So I was hooked from the pilot episode and I was 5 years old then and now I'm 48 so been a fan most of my lifetime.  Got a photo album full of filming sites from the first 5 episodes.  So cool to ride on the same roads they drove on making the episodes.  Have driven my charger down there a few times and to Nashville twice and once to Gatlinburg.  Good old car but it likes the gas stations lol

I binge watch whatever show I’m going through (and I have tons—I want my own copies, so other than Netflix I don’t do much streaming) every night before bed. But, I’m a night-owl, so I can sometimes go through a disc a night.
I’m actually currently going through Knight Rider, as a while back I got the Blu-ray set. But, DOH is always around in my house...and I watch episodes of it fairly regularly, too. I usually watch DOH in my basement family room, as that’s where I have all my memorabilia set up.  I grew up with both shows, and are 2 of my all-time favorites!
I really wish DOH would get a remastered Blu-ray release...but with the whole woke cancel-culture garbage over the rebel flag, I doubt it’ll ever happen. But, I’m grateful for the DVDs!

True, I know when they moved production from Georgia to the Warner Bros lot in California, they decided to “soften” the show even more, as they had discovered it was so popular with kids. Originally I think they were trying to aim towards an audience of perhaps late teens to 30s. But, they ultimately gained an audience & fans of all ages!

I do believe that the Ghost of General Lee is my all time favorite DOH episode. All the characters put so much emotion into that one. Especially Uncle Jesse. I just wanted to hug him at the Boar's Nest when Rosco told him the boys were gone. And the relief and excitement at seeing the boys outside of their wake is enough to make you smile in relief too.

High Octane has some great moments.  Boss and Rosco were great in that one and you could really see how great they were as a team.
I liked how the Boar's Nest looked early on in the California episodes.  It was darker and had the poles holding up the roof.  It was closer to how it looked in the pilot.
Hazzard County in the California episodes looked like Walnut Grove in Little House On The Prairie with the hills, dirt roads and trees.  My wife always says that.  We watch both shows and always get a kick out of how similar they look.  Georgia really doesn't look exactly like that but it gave a feeling of the south.

I watched all of season one starting Thursday night and finished yesterday.  I'm from Georgia so those first 5 episodes will always be my favorites.  Still such a great show and still holds up even after 44 years.  I dug out my old PS2 and been playing Return of the General Lee last night and this morning.  Love that game, except trying to keep Daisy from going off into the canyon lol.

Yeah, the real-life Georgia locations gave a more realistic, southern, down-home charm to the beginning of the show. But, I guess they could control background & what needed to happen in each episode better on a studio lot.
I too love the original Georgia locations, but I did love the Duke farm & The Boar’s Nest at Warner Bros. The town square was cool, too and worked for the chases & ripping around.

I'm the same way. I've only loved a few shows but  Dukes is the only one that lasted a lifetime. Everybody was talking about it in 1979 and when I saw my first episode I was hooked. I'm not sure which one it was but it wasn't too long after the debut.  I was 19 at the time. I'm 7 days younger than John Schneider.

Sadly in today’s world networks don’t really care about fan response or wants anymore...they do what they want. Blue Bloods is good, although I mainly have watched it because of Tom Selleck...he’s always been one of my heroes since “Magnum”. I don’t think BB would have lasted as long as it has if he hadn’t been as seriously involved. I kind of got out of it though, and haven’t watched much for the past few years.
I haven’t seen CHiPs since reruns on TBS, not long after it had gone off the air. I’d love to see it again...I’ll have to look into getting it soon. For DOH I re-found it in the 90s when reruns were on the cable network TNN, and this was the first time I’d seen the show since it was originally on when I was growing up. I taped some episodes, but I didn’t get the whole show. I didn’t get the entire series to see again until they started releasing it to DVD, around 2004/05.

The only time I usually get is at night. I do have an interesting & even somewhat eclectic collection of shows from all decades (50s-Present), as well as tons of movies, both old & new. I usually have something to watch.

Y'all are so smart on all the nitty gritty information. There needs to be more time in the day so I can go back and watch it again. It's been forever since I actually watched a show. *GASP*  But I loved the whole Richard Petty reference. LOL. Y'all do realize I got my love for NASCAR from the Dukes...

MonacoMan got a reaction from Hobie Hartkins in Daisy’s Song...But the Farm “Long”?
Yeah, it was discovered that the original Dukes house was actually at some point built around a Civil War era cabin, and when the people that owned the land wanted to tear it down there was a “movement” for a while to try and stop it. Some even tried to explain that the first part of “Dukes” was filmed there...but none of it was any use. All of it was torn out, except one of the old stone chimneys. I don’t know if that’s even still there or not anymore?
Depending on when you were there to get those boards, most of the rest of the buildings on the property could’ve already been torn down, and so those other little houses/quarters could have already been gone. I’d post a picture of the scene I mean, but this site will never let me post photos...they always claim they’re too big.  So, you’ll probably have to watch the beginning of the episode to see what I mean.

I love the Georgia episodes...I feel like they were more real or life like. I don't know. Something like that. LOL. Though I do like others that weren't in GA...but as MonacoMan said, those shows seemed more realistic.

I figured the first filmed jump was the college one, but was shown later in the episode.

Love this episode, and I wish Jerry Rushing had had a recurring role as Ace, and shown up in more episodes...considering he basically was DOH, as they created the show mainly based off his real-life story!
But, the supposed Richard Petty wreck that Bo & Luke buy from Ace, is said to have been referred to as “Lee 1”...as it was originally a Charger turned into the General Lee—and was supposedly the very first jump on the show, in the Pilot. Which is said to be the jump over Rosco, in front of the Oxford College in Georgia, and forever included in the show’s opening.
It totaled the car (obviously ) and later was repainted & used as the wreck in this episode. The car was later found & rescued from a junk yard. The remains were sold multiple times over the years. However, the current owner is the one who finally had it totally restored to a General Lee.
But, in my opinion this is somewhat inaccurate...it wasn’t the very first jump on the show! The very first jump was literally in the opening scene as the show premiered, and the General & Rosco jump over the railroad tracks. The “college” jump was later in the episode.
However, perhaps it was the very first jump filmed, and that’s what they mean?
