  1. Capt D, Maybe your thinking the 05 movie? I know at least 25 were purchased for that movie. Many of which did survive, as to what they paid for them, I'll take your word on that.. Some of the car footage from this movie was from the 05 movie, someone has posted screencaps on another message board to prove this.Which explains some of the one minute you see a license plate next minute you don't. One of the cars was definitely a converted 68.You can tell by the upper door pad and the Charger emblem in the grill.

  2. JessieDuke, did I ever put anyone down for liking it? I merely stated knowing the person I referred to the way I think I do he probably thought it was great. No hidden meaning although you assumed there was.I don't appreciate getting called names. As sick and tired as I know a lot of you are of my opinions.I am as sick and tired of the it's 2007 not 1982 reasoning to excuse the way this franchise has gone.A very lame excuse IMO. What a diferrence a message board makes. This one about 90% of everyone liked it. The other one I post on 90% of everyone hated it. I too am curious on how well it did in the ratings.

  3. A lot of Knight Riders jumps the bigger ones were done with miniatures. Your idea has been debated before but I don't know why it hasn't been implemented yet.It sure would save a Charger at Dukesfest and could be re-used a number of times. Maybe it wouldn't be as cost effective as we both think it would be or maybe it's just not feasible don't know for sure. Agreed if a series would continue in the vein of this "American Pie" ideology that the new movies are I wouldn't waste my time watching it regardless of how much I love the car.

  4. I can't see a new series. It would be far too expensive of a venture. 69 Chargers are too rare a car anymore.Especially if they plan on doing actual stunts and jumps. If they use CGI to save doing actual stunts, that looks fake even with todays technology plus CGI is very expensive as well. Most of these cars are now in the hands of collectors that know what they are worth. You can't even touch a rust bucket one nowadays for under 5,000 and if you can you are very fortunate. Why do you think they started using miniatures for jumps in the later seasons? The supply of cars was quickly diminishing on top of other factors.Us Charger collectors don't want anymore Chargers destroyed anyway. It's bad enough they destroy one at Dukesfest every year. Even if they updated the car to a newer car it wouldn't work today's cars are just as expensive as a 69 Charger would be just with a better supply of parts. Plus very few if any of us hardcore fans would accept the General Lee as any other car than a 69 Charger so there goes a vast majority of of the viewing audience.

  5. Amen GENERAL CHARGER. I totally agree. I never said I wanted a carbon copy. I can understand updating like giving them cell phones instead of CB radios and using computers stuff like that. If you make a movie based on a popular TV show at least stay true to established story lines and character traits. They could have just as easily made it without resorting to "American Pie" tactics and made it more palatable to us more orthodox fanatics. In my opinion the first movie would have done even better if it had stayed true to the original. Look at Star Wars or Superman. Those two movie franchises are 2 of the most successful of all time yet they have stayed true to what the original was. It worked for them, why not the Dukes? I disagree change only happens because we who buy the product allow it to change. We have the power. If we would refuse to buy what we don't want to see, they would change the product back to what it was.

  6. Yes "Hugger" is another orange shade that a lot of replica owners have chosen. It is a General Motors color as well as the Corvette "Flame Red" is.Now the purest Mopar guys seem to have a problem using a non Mopar color so they use Hemi a factory Mopar color. I personally would go with "Flame Red" because it is confirmed to have been used but it is personal preference.Don Schishler told me they chose "FLame" over Hugger or Hemi on the first cars because of the way it came out on film as film tends to make things look a tad more redder than they really are or at least back then it did.I'll post some comparisons now. 143312237.jpg150601033.jpg

  7. A lot depends on what era General you are after.Georgia,Valuzet,or WB built cars. 75 Corvette "Flame Red" is confirmed to have been used on some of the remaining "real" Lees.According to Tom Sarmento it was used by WB from seasons 4-7.Valuzet era used their own blend rumored to be Hugger or Hemi or a combination of the 2. Don Schishler in charge of the Lees in Georgia told me personally that the Corvette was used on those cars. Major differences between Corvette and Hemi is that Hemi has metallic in the paint. Visibly side by side to the naked eye is hard to see much difference.Hemi and Hugger tend to look a bit more reddish than the Corvette. Corvette looks different under various lighting as well. My General in my avatar is Covette Flame Red. The interior color paint code is Dupont 5934 Lt Desert Tan scanned from interior parts from real General 63.

  8. That's the point I was trying to get across Brian that hopefully lessons were learned and corrections will be made to make it a better experience for everyone involved.Apparently at least to a few of you feel that the Hazzard vehicles attending add or have very little significance to the event.I'll be sure to pass that on. I probably won't be able to attend because of work and finances. Now that I see that our vehicles are not appreciated, I would have second thoughts about attending even if I were able to. It's amazing how a handfull of club members from the Official fan club decided to try a convention back in 98 for fans to share memories, exchange merchandise and see some props from the show. Now it has transformed into this huge event.

  9. I just love how people take things out of context and start putting words in my mouth.Did I ever say it was totally all Ben and Almas fault the there were problems. No I didn't.I wasn't even there for cripes sake. I'm just passing on what many of the car owners have told me. I'm sure Ben and Alma do their best.I know you can't make everyone happy. Did you pole all 100k people to determine that half of them were there just because of the castmembers? From what I was told most the problems came from the security company that was hired which they aren't supposed to be rehired this year. For an event thats had plenty of time to prepare and co sponsored by CMT a major corporation. It wasn't very well organized from what I was told. When you put on any event you have to over prepare for what you're expecting to be there. They knew that venue would only hold 30-50k max which is what they expected. Why would you sell past that point knowing your going to have more headaches? Reason $$$. You don't see other major events overselling too much over what the venue will hold especially twice what it will hold. That's what sold out points are for. Brian was speaking about safety. You can't sit there and tell me 100k people in a place only designed to hold half that is very safe. I don't have all the answers. They should move it back to Bristol or the other track at Nashville where there would be no problem holding that many people.Regardless 100k fans wanting a signature in 2 days from 5 or 6 castmembers isn't going to happen.

  10. True getting there early doesn't guarantee any autographs but it would increase your odds I would think. Also true no one forces us Hazzard vehicle owners to build these vehicles and come to Dukesfest. Most all have been built out of love or devotion of the original show .Imagine being so impacted by a TV show so much that you decided to spend months or years of time and hard earned money to build a replica of one of the vehicles from it. We don't claim to be better than any other fan. Yet in your opinion after all our hard work we don't deserve any special treatment even though we contribute to the event.Especially after it has been promised to us for the past 5 years.Even Ben and Alma have clearly admitted to how poorly the vehicle owners were treated last year by posting an apology on his website. How would they react if no Hazzard vehicles show up? Sure there still would be a crowd but I think it would cut attendance quite a bit if they knew there were no vehicles going to be there other than the ones Ben has himself which is only 2 or 3.

  11. Yeah they way oversold tickets last year. That venue is really only designed for about 30,000 people at most.Hopefully they learned from last year and have a sold out point.Regardless if you intend to go just for autographs even at 30k you aren't likely to get more than one or 2 and your looking at 4-6 hour wait for say John, Tom or Cathy if you aren't there early.Hopefully the issues with the Hazzard vehicles will finally get resolved but I wouldn't count on that either. Each year since 2001 Ben and Alma keep promising things for us car owners and each year we get disappointed. Last year was really bad. They had better come through this year or else there will be very few or no Hazzard vehicles going in 2008 assuming it will continue past 2007. There are already a bunch of guys I talk to that are very hesitant to go this year because of what might happen. I can't say as I blame them. After you've spent thousands of dollars restoring a car showing your devotion to the show.Spend almost 3 bucks a gallon on gas on a car that gets poor gas mileage. Plus lodging. Then you get there and get treated like crap when your vehicle helps draw in the crowd. Yeah I'd be pretty angry. I haven't been able to attend with my General since 2002 the last one in Sperryville. Even then the event was getting to be very large.I waited 6 hours for Cathy then.

  12. Dukesfest is a GO!! Tentative for first weekend in June like last year but it is going to happen. If you own a Hazzard vehicle there has been a meeting with Miss Alma and a lot of the problems that occurred are supposed to be corrected and some special treatment for them as well. I can't give details yet.
