The damage has already been done. The same points you have brought up, have already been brought up time and again. History was written by the winning side, and adopted as popular belief. For every One person who knows the truth, there is ten more ready and willing to believe the lie.

*sniffs the air* Hmm, is that b.s. I smell? My heritage was hurt as soon as the South lost the War, and The North began to steal from us, and missrepresent us, and our heritage, and our History. Don't tell me 'my lack of understanding' hurts anything about me. Hell, the truth of the matter is I didn't know how DIFFERENT a Southern person was until I had the misadventure of living out West in Az and then Cali. It was then that I learned, yeah hey....things aren't the same here. These people are flippin hostile athiest liberal loons. For a 17 year old, I found out that 9/10 Yankees believe the b.s. they here about the South. I had TEACHERS make fun of me in school, just because I speak with an accent. ((The girls however couldn't get enough of it.)) The people that keep going on with the jokes, and random b.s. CHOOSE to believe that regardless of any fact that may or may not slap them across their fool face. I have been up North to Maryland, where I listened to a radio station who liked to call Southern mechanics, and places of buisness on the air, just to make fun of us. For no reason other then to get a laugh out of the way somebody was born and raised. I went to and adapted to the way of life, and HATED it. I did my 'time' though, and got to come back home after a final trip to Japan. YOu have to live something as a way of live to really get it. Not just read about it, and watch it on t.v. The South is the South, and a Yankee is a Yankee. Eating with chopsticks won't make you Japanese, wearing Fubu won't make you black, drinking Earl Grey won't turn you into a Brit, and watching Dukes won't make you Southern. You can only ever go SO FAR with it, and What you think you know, and if you think you know, then I don't think you know. I've earned my opinion, and spilled enough blood to say what I like, for the same un-greatful Yankees that ridicule me. Reminds me of a story. I was in Cali, and I am a country boy right? Anyway there's this guy, bout 21 I guess. From Michigan. He assumes that since I am from Georgia, that I must hate blacks, and what have you. He sits down with me at chow, and proceeds to talk to me. He tells me yeah, he's got an uncle who lives down South. Blah blah blah. The guy shows me a rebel flag tattoo'ed on his arm, and I just eat, and listen. The guy then proceeds to tell me..."Yeah Its a shame the South lost...but yeah, I got this tattoo on my arm to let the n-----s know how I feel." Uh huh, well about that time my big black buddy from Tn. stepped up behind him, and needless to see, little Mr. Yankee got up, and got outta dodge. Leroy sat down next to me and rolled his eyes. "They just don't get it do they?" I shook my head no, and grinned. Truth was Ole Leroy had a rebel flag tattoo on his arm too. Go figure. Anyway the point is that that is a clear case of missrepresenting something, and its because of little yankee twits, and 'lets all get along liberals', that I don't have my state flag anymore. To tell you the truth, I am offended by the American flag...Hell, they were flying it while my ancestors were getting killed. It offends me. We had to work under it while we share cropped with the blacks on our own damn land, that the yankees auctioned off to other yankees. They flew it while they BURNED US TO THE GROUND, and raped our women. They flew it while they called it a war about slavery, while Lincoln just days before the war, said that blacks were not equal, and said the South could keep them as long as the high tariffs and taxes were paid. TRUTH BE TOLD, the blacks were WORSE off, after the war. Had they been promised what they were due, then why wasn't equal rights an issue? Hell it wasn't until 100 YEARS LATER, that that was a BIG issue. So whatever ignorant idiot talks about the war being about slavery, needs to be...obviously...drug out and shot. Anyway, to go on that was the same flag flying while they moved the Natives out of the South, drug em out west, and slaughtered em. Yeah, I am offended by the American Flag, but I don't complain about people flying it. To each his own, and his own is where he is born and raised, and what he would die for. His own is his way of life, and his essence. I'll be straight damned to hell before you tell me I am missrepresenting the South, or anything else for that matter. I am well traveled, and I know what I know. I say what I say, and I mean what I mean. I do not like Yankees. You can watch your little Southern shows, tout that you get it, and you can buy you're little Foxworthy tapes and cds, and wave your little rebel flags, and you can listen to your country music, and vouch for the South, you can talk about being raised by a Southerner.... You can do that all you like, but know this...We're all just laughing at you. Yankee born people that have lived their lives anywhere ut in the south, REGARDLESS of who raised them...are still Yankees. And if A Southerner is raising their child unti anywhere other then the South, then they are a Defector, and should be drug out and shot. I am ALL FOR another Civil War. However in this day and age it would be between Conservatives, and Liberals. You get your flag taken away from you, and you go somewhere where people diss you based off your accent, and place of birth, and you have history books preach lies about your heritage, then...THEN you come talk to me about a 'lack of understanding.' The Preacher is telling the truth and it hurts. Now, to prevent any FURTHER hostilities, I will no longer bring up things of this nature. My feelings are CLEARLY evident, and how I feel about Yankees, is CLEARLY evident. If you think I went too far, then thats your buisness, and it won't surprise me if you try to nip ole J. I assume you're just trying to get me riled with that comment. However for any ignorant foool at there that thinks you're serious...That movie sucks, and is not accurate in any sense being that 'it could only happen in the South.' Thats a ripe load of fecal matter. Any of that can happen anywhere. Oddly enough its yankees that have a strange fascination with it. As to all Yankees interested in the Dukes of Hazzard...It goes beyond cars, and bars, chicks, and American Pride. It's about the South, how the South works in a sense, Southern traditions, Southern Values, Southern History, Southern Heritage, and Southern Justice. It's a show made most popular because it is Southern, and a unqiue look at the South, which Yankees can't get enough of. The whole lot of urban cow/plow boy wannabe's. Surprise! I have the privlage of being born, and raised in the South. Further more, I'm still here, and ain't goin' no where. I can tout my horn all day long, and thats just all there is to it. A yankee only thinks they get the Dukes, A Southerner however, really does. Yankees will never know what they're missing, because...well they're yankees. Am I a brtoher American to my neighbours up North, and out West? No. I don't even consider myself a Modern American. I still claim the Confederacy. The war is over, yeah so what. Hostilities still run high here.

People that are naturally good don't have to go to college to learn to be good. I have been writing all my life, and I am a highschool dropout. Yet I have one book Published, and I am working on a second, which is a trilogy. To write dialogue you must BE that character. You must think like, see things like, feel like, the character you are writing in. Thats the point I am trying to make. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but read one of my brief little rp stories, and you'll see what I am talking about.

I'm with you. I think its a disaster. It could be done, and it could be done justice, but in this day and age that is not going to happen. A Modern take wouldn't be bad if you had the right take on it. The take on it, simply ain't right. I will NOT be going to see it. I will be there though. With a few good friends, and alot of protest signs. If I am lucky it'll make the paper, and other people will start doing the same, and it will give Hollywood a sour taste in their mouth.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't like the fact that it was moved in the least. That was a dissappointment. The actors though, in my opinion, did a good job. And yes the Dukes are Southern, just as is Walking Tall. The Dukes is based on being Southern. You're missing a point.

Itsa a comments page, just adding my comments. I'm not even talking about the Blizzard. The entire Eastern, and South East was dumped with a Blizzard in March of 93. In my part of Ga. alone we had four feet of snow. My issue is not with fanfic, or otherwise. Merely you gave a medium for comments, and my comments were addressed on dialogue. Nuff said.

Well, my comment is that the dialogue in the stories sounds way to Northern. I can't place the characters ACTUALLY saying what is siad in the dialogue of the stories. I was so annoyed with the Blizzard Stories Dialogue I couldn't finish the story...Just my opinion.

I'll comment there in the future. Or simply e-mail you. I live in Georgia though, North of Atlanta, and I am telling you, NO SNOW. We are lucky, and I mean LUCKY if we get an inch in a year. Further more the Dukes was filmed in Cali. I believe only 3 or maybe 5 epsidoes were filmed in Georgia. That was in Conyers/Convington no less. But hey,.its fanfic, so whatever.

Hazzard was NOT close to the Tennessee state line so much as it was close to Atlanta. It was North of Atlanta, and just on the bottom of Ellijay. Right in between there. Ever wonder why they got to Atlanta so fast? North about 100 miles is the Tennessee state line. West about 86 is Alabama. I live North of Atlanta in Georgia also. Above Ellijay though, in a place called Dalton. It snows maybe an inch or two ever three or four years. In Ellijay maybe once a year, and it stays on the ground for a few days. South Tennessee where the state line is your speaking about, gets the same amount as North. Ga. Little to none. However, on RARE Occassion...we get several inches. In 93 we got about five feet! On account of the Great Blizzard. Sometimes we get wicked icestorms too. Aint's no harm in writing a story about a snowstorm. I live in basically the same spot 'Hazzard' was supposed to have been. I've seen snow.

Well By God then. *laughs* Nothing like a good back porch debate to get things going. First off, John Schneider made his way to Atlanta, and stayed a few years prior to auditioning. Thus he had enough time to absorb some of the South. I watch the show for Rosco mainly, but thats neither here nor there. The point is, the show was made to be a part of the Southern Culture, and is still today. I agree that there are yankees out there who 'get it'. Just not many, most of them watch it on grounds to amuse themselves by watching those 'ignorant hicks'. The appeal was NOT just cars, and a hot girl. The appeal was being able to identify with, and enjoy something that relates to you. Thats on the Southern Aspect, from the Yankee side, sure it might be about cars and girls. The car being made in Detroit means nothing. It doesn't make it a Yankee car. We all got our cars from there pretty much, at that point in time. Thats just were the Industry was for it. It's what you do with your car that counts. Let's not get too 'technical' about trivial facts. The point is the Dukes of Hazzard is looked at in two different perspectives. The popular view, and the Southern view. I'm sorry for holding a grudge, but I dislike yankees, and I don't want to share whats mine, or what is my heritage, not pertaining to just Dukes either. I have lived on both sides of the line, and didn't realize how much my heritage meant to me, and how much it made me, my essence, and how people look at me, UNTIL I got out of the South. I'll never leave again. The Dukes of Hazzard is about Country People, in a Country Way of Life, in Georgia, With deep heritage, and living a CERTAIN way of life. I relate. It doesn't made where it was filmed, or who played who, or whatever...The point is it caught on because speaking metaphorically, The South is everything California wishes it could be. The Dukes of Hazzard BELONGS to the South. If Yankees want to watch it fine, but it's still not yours. I love saying things like that too, because I know it kills a Yankee's day to hear it. Deep down alot of yankees wanna be Southerners, and the fact is...'They Ain't., and ain't never gonna be.' Just ask Kid Rock. Running around with Hank Jr. ain't gettin him no points with me. Case in point, The Dukes of Hazzard was mainly successful due to the fact it was a medium, and finally Southern People had an outlet, and way to relate on t.v. Yankees for the most part loved it because they got to amuse themselves by watching those 'darned ole ignorant hicks, wonder what they'll do next....eh.' *rolls his eyes, and whistles dixie on the way to another thread.*

I certainly don't have ANYTHING nice to say about the NEW Dukes Movie no. I also certainly don't have anything nice to say about Yankees. *shrugs* I can go on and on all day about how great the Old Series is. As far as renewed interest, I again, don't care. Whether this spoiled ADD generation likes it or not, I could care less. I care about the Old Dukes show, and thats the bottom line.

After a call to Cooter's Place, and some research, I will go ahead and confirm to all of you that the Confederate Flag will not, I repeat WILL NOT be on the 68/69 Dodge Charger. It will have the 01, and the General Lee name, but NO flag. How yall like them apples? Kinda tart ain't they? Leaves a bad taste in my mouth to be quite honest. Political Correctness can kiss my Rebel Arse. I will be avidly PROTESTING this movie in my area.
