The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)
Mark B / Scooter Davenport replied to Mark B / Scooter Davenport's topic in Fan Art
Since enough is never enough, I'm moving on down the road and creating the buildings directly adjacent to the garage- Rhuebottoms General Store and O'Connor's Paint Supply. Unlike the garage set, these buildings were just facades with very little depth. In fact, O'Connor's Paint Supply was just a front wall attached on one side to a telephone pole type post for stability. For my model, I'm treating the buildings as 'real' and completing the backs- we saw the back door of Rhuebottoms at least once (using a generic metal shed wall someplace on the Warner lot), so I'll match that. We did see the inside of Rhuebottoms store a couple times (as well as the store room where Boss was stashing stolen fur coats), but I won't be adding interior details like I did with the garage. These buildings are just to add 'atmosphere' next to the garage and provide additional locations for some more model cars, trucks, and my Rhuebottoms delivery van. I'm using HossC's excellent drawings as my starting point! Untitled by mommydawn2000, on Flickr blueline by mommydawn2000, on Flickr -

The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)

Its not earth-shattering, but it meant a lot to me. The voting was done by the participants and spectators at the show, so it meant something to come from fellow modelers. I want to think everyone here for the encouragment during this project. Thanks for letting me share! -

The Cooter on the hood is a combination of parts from different 1/25 figures; moslty meant to be Nascar crew and mechanics (plus a little sculpting with a sharp Exacto). M -

I'm ashamed to say I didn't catch this- I knew 'Little Enos' and 'Big Enos' rolled off the tongue too easily. I'm clearly not firing all cylinders lately. Ben wasn't in Gatlinburg this time. It seems he's had to restrict his activities a little lately by doctor's orders. Mark -

Well it was a pretty amazing weekend with the model at Cooter's Gatlinburg for the 2015 Hazzard Run. The things that stand out to me: 1. Sonny Shroyer is amazing; I've seen a lot of celebrity autographs lines, but I have never seen anyone spend as much time with each fan and made them feel special as he did. The man is 80 years old and he went all day like the engergizer bunny. And that is his real laugh- not made up for the Enos character. He's the real deal folks- as nice and genuine as Enos himself, but not niave of course. And his wife is just as lovely a person.2. The folks at the Cooter's store are a great bunch- it was alot of fun to get to see the inside scoop on how things run, hear some stories about Ben Jones, etc.3. Dukes fans are about as nice a group of people who don't know each other as you will find, at least the ones who came this weekend were. I'm having trouble with flicker now that I've upgraded Windows, so I'm not able to post pictures to HNet. Hopefully I'll have time to figure it out soon. Mark -

So I'm takin the model to Gatlinburg for the Hazzard Run next week, and Ben Jones writes me to ask if they can put pictures up of it on his Cooter's Place facebook page. Of course I said yes, and he did a really great write up for it; I'm humbled by it. FB post by mommydawn2000, on Flickr -

Wow- really nice work! I'll be following this! M -
Yes, I also have seen a shot in the Boar's nest where you can see the end of the wall. Those things do make it into the final cut sometimes, but not as often as in the stills. Still photographers rely on somebody else to pick the shots that will be released, and they assume that person won't pick something that reveals too much.

Keep in mind that most of the photos you see aren't actually 'screen caps' or any image seen through the film cameras they shot the show with. They are taken by the on-set still photographer. Most likely the photographer is someplace just to the side of the actual film camera. If you compare, you'd see that even recognizable scenes from the show in these pics are from a slightly different angle that what you see in the episode. This is also where you get many of the behind the scenes pics and pics of the actors that seem slightly out of character, or standing still just before a take (sometimes wearing sunglasses). Mark

Funny, I felt the same way- I go so deep into the project I started to forget I needed a few vehicles! I'll have the model at Cooter's Place at the end of this month, so no pics yet! Mark -

This will be the newest addition to the Hazzard Garage fleet! Anyone who follows HossC's research will know that this particular configuration isn't actually a wrecker that appeared during the series, but to the casual viewer (or even most hard-core fans), you would never know it. It combines elements of several wreckers seen in the series, but isn't a match for any one vehicle. It is, however, a match to the wrecker that you will find if you visit the Cooter's Place in Nashville. That particular wrecker also appears on all the merchandise sold at the Cooter's Place museums and website. So I figured since my garage model will be at the Gatlinburg Cooter's for this month's Hazzard Run, I should have their tow truck parked out front. I combined parts from two different model kits, but had to scratch build most of the rear towing rig to match the pics I took of the real thing in Nashville this past January (I can't believe I thought ahead to take that many pics!). Brad Paisley
Mark B / Scooter Davenport replied to Mark B / Scooter Davenport's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion
There is lot of formula in modern music of a lot of genres; the same can be said for movies, etc. But I guess if you like something, you want more of the same, correct? And another side note- I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but the album cover uses the 'Dukes' font (slightly squished) on the 'Moonshine in the Trunk' bumper sticker! Went to a Brad Paisley concert last night in Tampa; in addition to it being a great show, the title song from his new album has a nice little Dukes tribute. Take a look at the chorus below. I've said for long time that a new Dukes series should have Brad Paisley music in it; this song could be the new theme! "Moonshine In The Trunk" Got a '69 Camaro with a Ram Jet 502 I could win the pole at Bristol, baby But I'm ridin' ‘round with you Bored as hell we might as well Burn this tank of gas ‘Cause if we're goin' nowhere, girl Let's go nowhere fast [Chorus:] Like there's moonshine in the trunk And blue lights on our tail Like if we get caught they're gonna haul us off to jail Like we're helpin' out Uncle Jesse Makin' a midnight run Let's drive tonight like this whole county's dry And there's moonshine in the trunk Well they say that's how the Duke boys And NASCAR started out They were haulin' bootleg liquor And look where they are now Chances are I gotta Mason jar Rollin' ‘round in the back That white lightnin's long gone But it shouldn't be hard to act Like there's moonshine in the trunk And blue lights on our tail Like if we get caught they're gonna haul us off to jail Like we're helpin' out Uncle Jesse Makin' a midnight run Let's drive tonight like this whole county's dry And there's moonshine in the trunk Whoa, oh, oh Let's pretend we're runnin' from the law Whoa, oh, oh Like we're the Bonnie and Clyde of alcohol Like there's moonshine in the trunk And blue lights on our tail Like if we get caught they're gonna haul us off to jail Like we're helpin' out Uncle Jesse Makin' a midnight run Let's drive tonight like this whole county's dry And there's moonshine in the trunk
