Jesse nodded and pressed a gentle kiss to Luke's forehead before standing up and heading out the door, almost colliding with B.L as she walked in. He gently nodded his head before B.L could ask. "Bo's doin' a little better....would ya come help me get some ice packs together so we's can bring his fever down a little?"
-
Jesse watched Luke's sleeping form for a little bit before answering the Doc, praying that the good lord would forgive him for doing that to one of his children. He knew it was for Luke's own good....but he still felt so horribly guilty about it. He looked up and smiled smiled thankfully at him, knowing the sleep would do Luke a world of good and also because he was offering to stay the night. He was about to ask Amos to do just that. "Yes of course, its all set up as usual....thank you for this Amos....having you here should help no end." Daisy didn't even try to protest as B.L led her indoors and into the quiet saftey of her room. She changed and crawled in between the sheets, snuggling down into their comforting warmth and quickly fell asleep.
-
Jesse swallowed, his own eyes shining with tears for his two nephews. He kept a firm hold on Luke as he struggled against him, wtaching heart broken as Luke tensed when the needle slipped under his skin. He gently let go of Luke's wrists as he instantly calmed and held onto one of Luke's hands, shaking his head and smoothing Luke's hair again. "Luke....I'm sorry Luke but it's fer yer own good....if ya get sick then yer gonna be of no help ta Bo....no help at all and I can't be losin' the both of ya...." He watched as Luke fought to stay awake and gently started humming an old lullaby to him, remembering how that had worked well in the hospital.
-
Jesse shakes his head and keeps a firm grip on Luke's wrists, gently bringing him to lie down on the bed, smoothing the hair away from his eyes with one hand and holding his wrists in the other. "Luke....the Doc's been able to calm Bo down now....he should be alright fer the rest of the night. He still ain't 100% sure what's the matter with him, but we should know by tomorrow. All we know is what you though was happening was correct, he's delerious 'cause of the fever." Jesse swallowed and and gently smiled at his oldest, hating what they were about to do, but knowing it was for his own good. If Luke took to being ill as Bo had done, then there was no way that Bo would be able to fight anything, he needed Luke, that much was clear. "The only problem is, we's need ya to calm down and get some sleep..."
-
As the doctor reeled off what he believed to be happening to Bo, Jesse nodded. "I thought as much....Luke said that that's what he thought was happenin'....he's seen it in the Marine's..." He looked back to the room and thought carefully on what the Doc had said about Luke. He didn't want to have to resort to drugging Luke again....but then again the Doc was right. With Bo as unstable as he was there was no chance of him even thinking about laying on his bed, let alone sleeping in it. He sighed softly and nodded. "I know that too Amos....we've been trying to get Luke to sleep, but he refuses when Bo's like this....i'll try and keep him distracted while you do it, you're right, he is in no frame of mind to make this decision." He motioned back to the room and stepped carefully inside again. Bo's eyes were now closed in sleep, but the trembling remained. He gently patted Luke's shoulder and pulled him up from his sitting position next to Bo, pulling him gently but firmly over to his bed and sitting him there, taking his wrists and holding them gently. "Luke....listen to me a moment...."
-
Jesse nodded at the Doc, pleased that he seemed to accept the Doc's excuse for not telling him what was going on with Bo without question. Jesse on the other hand suspected that the news he was going to get wasn't going to be the best... He headed out the room with a gentle pat to Luke's shoulder and stood out in the corridor, motioning for B.L to take Daisy outside or something for a little while while him and the doctor had a talk.
-
Jesse shook his head in response and looked back over at Bo. "I don't know that either Luke.....I just don't know that either...."
-
Jesse pulled Luke into a firm, but gentle hug, looking over at Bo again, watching him as the trembling didn't stop and his eyes remained fixted on the ceiling above, but at least he wasn't paniking any more. "Yeah....as much as I hate to say it.....I'm beginnin' ta think that too..."
-
Jesse nodded gently and trailed his thumb softly down Luke's cheek, keeping one eye on his now calming nephew, although Bo's eyes still remain unfocused. "I know Luke....I don't want him hurt neither....but I don't think he even realises where he is right now, let alone what's really happening to him....the only thing this'll do is help him Luke...."
-
Jesse gripped his oldest by the shoulders and turned Luke to face him, signalling to the doctor to inject it quick while Luke's attention was distracted. "Luke....the doc is here to help Bo. He wouldn't do nothin' that won't help him ya know that....we need him to get better Luke....if we don't he wont last the night....now which would you rather? Make Bo have an injection or send him to the pearly gates?" He hated talking like that to Luke when he was obviously so distraught, but it had to be said because the injection had to be done and he could see no other way to get that through to Luke.
-
Daisy looked up as the Doc entered and smiled wanly at him before looking back down to the floor, wrapping her arms around her middle. The doc was here now and even though she knew he couldn't work miricles, she knew he could help at least a little. Jesse couldn't help but smile slightly at Luke's eagerness to get Bo better again. Jesse could tell this was hitting his oldest hard, having to sit by and not do anything because he couldn't. Luke was always the one to get the whole family out of any trouble, he had the cunning and knowledgable mind to come up with plans that others would deem crazy, but always seemed to work the best. But now he was stuck here, helpless to do anything for his younger brother, and Jesse knew exactly how that felt. He reached out and wrapped a comforting arm around Luke's shoulders, pulling him close and enveloping him in a hug as Bo stiffened on the bed and arched.
-
Bo's whole body shook in Luke's hold, a thick sheen of sweat glinting in the dim light of the room. He eyes remained wide, unfocused on the wall and his breathing getting quicker and quicker.
-
Daisy shook her head and hugged B.L more. "Why's this happening B.L? Why is this happening to him?" After a couple of moments, Bo's mouth started to open and close and his eyes squeezed shut before he finally managed to make the sounds. "I didn't hear nothin'....didn't hear nothin'....please don't....please.....didn't hear nothin'...please...please...." His left hand curled into a fist and he tried vainly to move his arm away from something, twisting against bonds that weren't even there.
-
Daisy looked up worridly at her Uncle as he called Doc Appleby and clung tighter to B.L as he rattled off the things that were happening to Bo. SHe couldn't believe this was happening. Bo was a strong young man, someone who never let anyone or anything kick him down. He was not one to stay down and relent to anyone, so why was this happening? Why didn't he seem to have the will to live anymore.... Bo's breathing remained quick and was getting shallower. His eyes darted from left to right and the muscles in his left arm twitched and tried to move away from something, although the imaginary bonds on his wrists kept them pinned to the bed.
-
Daisy wrapped her arms round B.L and held her tightly, not crying, she had nothing left in her to cry, just being held, being comforted by someone. Bo made no sign that he knew anybody was with him or what they were doing to him. HIs eyes remained glazed and his body rigid. HIs breathing was quick but not weak and raspy.
-
As Daisy hears the groan all she can do is bury her head in her hands and shake her head. This can't be happening all over again, it just cant be. Not so soon after they just pulled bo from death's door he's heading straight back for it again. If they needed her she would help, but she didn't want to see Bo like this again....not again.... Bo had rolled onto his back and was laying like he was strapped to the bed, eyes open but oddly glazed over and cold sweat dripping from his burning forehead. He was looking wildly around him with his eyes but made no move with his head.
-
Daisy sipped the warm liquid slowly, feeling it warm her up and calm her a little bit. She still couldn't believe this was happening to her baby cousin, she kept expecting him to laep out the bedroom and tell them this was all one big joke....but he never did. All that remained in the house was a tense worry filled silence....that was soon broken by a low groan....
-
Daisy smiled at B.L as she swiftly took charge and told everyone what shifts were going to who. She would have liked it that she go last considering that Uncle Jesse was probably going to need to sleep more than the rest of them with the worry and pressure on his shoulders, but she knew better than tto say so. She watched B.L for a moment and smiled gently as she watched B.L pour a little shine into Luke's mug. While Luke was exceptionally good at dodging sleep, there was nothing he could do to avoid the calming sensation you felt when you've drunk some of Jesse's finest. He was gonna be mad and irrate when he discovered that was what had happened....but it was worth it to get Luke sleeping.....she couldn't stand it if she lost her older cousin to some illness too. She rose from her seat and sat next to Luke, wrapping her arm round his waist and leaning her head onhis shoulder, nuzzling into him with a sigh, knowing how worried he was for his younger cousin, even more so than she herself was. Bo and Luke were the double trouble dukes, the good ol' boys who helped anyone at any time for any reason. Luke was the plan maker, Bo was the getaway driver...what would happen if Bo never did recover from this....what would happen if he....reached the pearly gates.... Daisy shuddered slightly and tried to force that thought out of her mind.
-
Daisy nodded at B.L's suggestion, looking wistfully back at the doctor's, wondering why on earth Luke didn't ask the doctor to come out that night. If it concerned Bo, Luke didn't usually care whether or not it inconvinienced somebody. She watched as the farm got closer and closer, noticing sadly the lack of her younger cousin out on the porch. He loved the sunsets and the way the birds chirped in the cool evening breeze, and he often pulled one of them into sitting with him so they could enjoy it too until eventually the whole family was sat with him. Bo was never really selfish at all....if there was something he enjoyed he would try and make sure everyone else enjoyed it too, more than once Bo had tried to get Daisy to take an interest in working on the General because he had deemed it so much fun and thought she should take an interest too. In fact it had been Bo who was the most eager to teach her the things he loved, hunting with bows and arrows, driving Bo style....saying she missed all that now was indeed a drastic understatement. She sighed gently as the General skidded to a halt into the yard and slid gently out the window, looking over the house and barn, waiting for Luke and B.L.
-
Daisy nodded and smiled thankfully, wishing that actually he could actually come over now and put at least a little worry to rest. But she didn't say so, only turned with Luke and B.L to head back outside to the General.
-
Daisy nodded and squeezed Luke's hand before quietly blurting out. "Doc he's got real bad again....please could you come over and take a look at him....he's suddenly become so weak again and he has headaches....please....just so we know what to do...."
-
Daisy was thankful for her friends support, she didn't know if she would have been able to go through with what she had promised Luke she would do for him if she hadn't. She walked into the Doc's office, one hand reaching for Luke's as they walked inside, half smiling back at the doctor as he looked up and smiled back at them.
-
She sighed as they quickly found themselves outside Doc Appleby's, not entirly sure that she wanted to do this anymore. What if Bo really was so sick he was dying?
-
As Daisy watched the scenery go by, her thoughts were mainly on the two guys now sitting in Atlanta Penitentairy. How could they have done this to Bo? How could anyone do this to anybody else? Bo swallowed the pills and the soothing water, sinking gratefully back in between the sheets to the position he was in before Jesse had woken him up. He smiled slightly as Jesse pressed a kiss to his aching temple and whispered back " I love you too" Before slipping into a darkness that he wasn't entirly sure was sleep, more than unconciousness. All he knew was that it was inviting.
-
Daisy rides shotgun next to Luke, noticing how tense he was in the seat, which was unusual when he was driving the General. She sighed and bit her lip nervously looking out the window at the scenery wooshing by. Bo groaned and bearily opened his eyes, blinking a couple of times before pushing himself into sitting, leaning against the headboard, waiting his eyes dropping back closed for the pills and water.
