Just then, a couple of doctors ran down the hallway, peeking in every room - including Luke's - but not seeing anyone there apart from the patient, continued on until eventually Luke couldn't hear them anymore.
Not too soon after the doctor left, a small shriek came from down the corridor....followed by the patter of running footsteps...then a blur of colour entered Luke's room and dived under the bed.
The doctor looked back at him, just looking at him a moment before nodding gently. "Yeah...i'll wash my hands and come back...before I get off my shift and go home for the night..."
The doctor laughed. "Well that's a gross minconception...we can be very sympathetc when we feel like the patient deserves it...but leaving your foot where a mule could tread on it doesn't seem to deserve a lot of sympathy..." She said with a wink.
As Joe lay thinking, he knew he had to stop Frank and Jesse from doing what they were planning...the only thing was...he couldn't expect Hank to help him out. Lorraine had hurt him badly and he doubted Hank would want to see her again in a hurry... Through the night, he didn't sleep a wink...just started to think about how to stop Lorraine and the James brothers...
"Now don't go blaiming the Mule...she was probably trying to do you a favour by giving you the time off...either that or she's got four feet to watch remember...maybe you should look where you leave your foot next time..." She said with a cheeky grin.
The doctor nodded with a smile. "I could tell that right off...most people wouldn't complain about a broken foot...they'd use it as an excuse to get outta work...its only the hard workers that complain..."
The doctor sighed gently, folding her arms. "So your gonna pout and whiny like a little baby now just because the mean ol' doctor put your leg in nasty traction..."
The doctor laughed a little, writing some things on a chart before replacing it and dismissing the nurse as she tidyed up. "Now I know its not the greatest thing in the world but it's helping..."
The doctor worked quickly and carefully, taking note of the more tender looking areas and being as careful as she could with them. Not too long later, it was all done and setting. "As soon as that's dry, we'll traction it again..."
