**PRESENT** Bo shook his head, putting an arm round Luke's shoulders. "I remember you came home all worried...took Uncle Jesse all night t'drive it outta ya..."
Somehow, Hughie managed to avoid most of the blows that Luke tried to rain down on him, blocking them as best he could. He eventually managed to throw Luke off him, scrambling to his feet with a grin on his face. "Jus' you wait Lukas! I'm gonna get my Uncle on you an' he's gonna put you in prison an' take away your farm!"
Hughie rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "Aw get over it ya big cry baby. S'not like ya really knew em anyhow. I think its just cause you like the attention."
Hughie only smirked back at him in that annoying fashion that years later he would perfect to hit even more irritating heights. "Awww is ickle Lukie gonna cwy?"
"Nu uh, cause you can't get yer own way an' if you try an' make me i'm gonna tell my Uncle who can kick ya outta your home so fast it wont be there when you get home from school one day...but that's the story of yer life ain't it...jus' like yer parents..." Hughie said in a sing song voice.
"Awww what's the matter Lukas Doofus...you all in a tantrum because you aint gettin' yer own way again...or is it because that dump you live in has finally fallen down cause the termites ran away..." Eleven year old Hughie Hogg taunted back as he walked along behind Luke with a big grin on his face.
Bo laughed, shaking his head...he didn't mind Hughie so much, he liked to annoy the little Hogg and embarass him, it was one of his most favourite past-times. But there was a deep rivalry between Luke and Hughie, almost as deep as he one between Luke and Ernie Leadbetter...
Bo frowned a little. "Well yeah o'course...I never needed any o'those comic book heroes all the other kids idolized...I had my own livin' with me on the farm. You always knew what to do, knew how to get me out of things...you seemed invincible t'me...still are..."
To say Bo was stunned by the sudden outburst was an understatement...he was downright speechless. He knew the relationship between him and his cousin was special, they were closer than brothers...but he had never really explored why Luke kept Bo close when he pushed so many others away before. Luke wasn't even this open with Jesse at the best of times. When he managed to find his voice again, he said softly. "I...I never thought that I didn't matter Luke..but...its hard to hear you changed someone's life...when the person you hear it from is your own hero..."
*PRESENT* Bo smiled a little as he listened to Luke, not having realized before what an impact he had made on Luke's life, wondering what it would have been like if his parents had lived. He didn't dwell on it though, preferring to think back on the memories he and Luke had. "Wow...never knew I was that important..."
Bo shifted a little as he was moved and his hand softly uncurled as he felt Luke's thumb stroking it. He stilled again a little, as if even that movement was an effort, before closing his hand again around Luke's thumb. Lavinia smiled softly as she watched the pair, wrapping her arms around Jesse's waist. nodding genly. "They're gonna be quite a pair when they're older.."
