"I know Luke..." Jesse soothed softly, hearing some of the boys own fears of where he was going and what he was getting into coming out in his words. "I know son okay....it wont take Bo that long to come to his senses...but if you leave now you're gonna go to that place with this hangin on your shoulders and that is a sure fire way to get yourself killed...you need to be worryin' about yerself and what your up against out in a war situation...not about what's goin' on at home..."

"Yes he will...i'll have a talk with him...'splain some things that need explainin'...then you can say your part...he's just upset Luke, you gotta remember that ever since Bo was 6 months old he's been losin' people close to him...he never got the chance to know his parents...Lavinia died when he was young...now your goin' before he's barely even gotten into the hang o;high school...it's just a might rough on him son..." Jesse explained softly as he rubbed the 18 year old's back gently.

Jesse shook his head softly. "Don't make any rash decisions just because your upset son...give him time..."

Jesse sighed as he watched Luke practically run through the house, sighing softly and guessing Luke had done the exact opposite of what he had told him...Bo had upset him.... Shaking his head, he walked slowly into the room and stopped Luke doing what he was doing, turning him round and hugging him close, rocking him softly and rubbing his back.

Bo didn't stop Luke going, or say anything in return. Instead he stayed stubbornly in his corner, refusing to create any more of an attatchment to Luke than he already had. It was better if Luke left hating Bo and visa versa. That way if Luke didn't come back, it wouldn't matter because it wouldn't hurt and he'd have nothing to miss.

"Whatever Luke..." Bo countered back, done with talking about it. It was clear Luke was gonna go no matter how Bo felt so he wasn't going to say anymore on the subject.

"Oh yeah sure, just leave everyone you love behind to go get yourself shot, real best thing in life to do huh." Bo said sarcastically back

"You don't know that! You don't know that for certain at all!" Bo cried back, throwing himself down like a kid in a tantrum in another corner of the hayloft.

"Well I don't alright! I dont understand why you want to go out there willingly and get yourself killed!" Bo yelled back at him, getting up and moving to the other side of the hayloft.

"Like what?!" Bo asked angrily, the pain and sadness clear in his voice as it mixed with anger. "What do you want me to say? You want me to say i'm glad your leaving? Want me to promise you i'll be alright, that I wont miss ya so much, that I dont care?!"

Bo turned more away from Luke as the older boy sat next to him, wiping the tears away angrily from his cheeks even though he knew Luke had seen them, not answering.

Bo didn't answer, turning away from the ladder as he heard Luke coming up. "Go away...its obviously what you want to do..."

Bo was huddled in the hayloft in his favourite hidden corner, tears falling as he sobbed quietly.

Jesse nodded gently before pulling Luke into a hug, rubbing his back a little. "Jus' don't get upset with him...its gonna be hard on him...harder than for any of us..."

Jesse took a deep breath, nodding a little before stepping forwards and putting his hands on Luke's shoulders, squeezing them gently. "Luke...as much as I hate the thought of one of my youngin's goin' through what your gonna...I'm very proud of you son..."

Bo turned and ran furiously out the house, slamming the door behind him as he did, tears streaking down his young cheeks as he walked straight to the barn.

Bo swallowed and softly wrapped his hand around Luke's thumb, not quite such an easy feat as when he was a kid and his little hands could do it no problem. "It did...to a degree but...it wasn't the same.."

Bo shook his head softly, blonde curls shining in the fading sunlight.

Bo nodded, closing his eyes a little as he did "I know ya did...I understand..."

Bo didn't move for sometime, swallowing gently before he leant back again a little while later.

Bo shook his head, looking down at his boots. "Ain't fun...ain't no fun at all.."

Bo shook his head softly. "I know what its like without you..." He said softly

Bo nodded, glad that Luke hadn;t taken that the wrong way. He had always hated what had happened to their parents, but at the same time he couldn't help but wonder sometimes what would have happened if they had survived. Would he and Luke have been as close? Would they have seen each other frequently or only at family reunions. He couldn't imagine a life without Luke and sometimes was kinda glad that that hadn't come to pass.

Bo looked back at Luke, getting more and more used to Luke's random outbursts as the conversation went along, smiling and nodding. "I'm glad your my cousin too...and...even though it cost us our parents an' everything...i'm kinda...glad that it brought us together..."
