Hobie Hartkins
Hey guys, I wanted to ask you what all you guys thought was the car driven by the fake Duke, Gaylord Duke. Was it an Alfa Romeo or an MG...or....?
HossC
Gaylord Duke drove a Jaguar XK-E (or E-Type Jaguar if you're in Europe). IMCDb have it listed as a 1971 model. I'll let the old Top Gear boys let you know what owners of this marque are like:

Hobie Hartkins
Hey everybody...I just looked up the 1971 Jaguar XK-E and it has a top speed of 150 MPH and can go from 0-60, in under 7 seconds. I then looked up the 1969 Dodge Charger and it has a top speed of 150 MPH and can go from 0-60 in 6.0- 7.2 sec......SO....! The scene where the Jag leaves The General standing still is just bull! They're practically identical as far as speed!
Roth Potter
I thought that XK-E on the show had performance upgrades? Edited February 12, 2016 by Roth Potter
Hobie Hartkins
Well, I'm not saying it didn't but I don't remember anybody saying anything like that, so I just figured it was a Charger vs. a Jag! ( Which means the General can go as fast as a Jaguar in REAL time!)
Roth Potter
I wrote it wrong, It's what I always assumed seeing how it drives away.
Hobie Hartkins
Well I always thought it was just a lot faster or could accelerate faster than the General but like I said, as it turns out, the car is no faster than the General, so, for some reason, they pretended it was faster!
