Wow, I'd sure love to meet him. I've always wanted to thank him for creating Dukes. Does anybody know how to contact him? I suppose I could google it but that sometimes has limited success when trying to contact somebody.

Most of the time when I think of the Dukes of Hazzard I forget to give him the credit he deserves since I'm so wrapped up in the fantasy of the show and its characters.

Uncle Jesse might be my hero but Gy Waldron is worthy of that status as well.

Then you might also wanna drop a line to Jerry Rushing, who inspired Gy Waldron. I know you're probably already aware of this, but for those reading the thread who are not - the movie "Moonrunners" was Gy's first effort at the telling of this lifestyle. Moonrunners was edgy, gritty, and somewhat dark, perhaps truer to Rushing's experiences but less suitable for television.

Aw heck...Mufn, we need to do a page on the Moonrunners movie. Add it to the never-ending project list.

Anyway, back to Jerry Rushing. I've had the pleasure of speaking to him a couple times, he's been at some Dukes shindigs in the past. For many years now he's been a reformed man. In his youth, he was worth avoiding by his own admissions.

And drawing on my own personal insights, I'll say this. If you take the person who Rushing eventually became, and combined it with some of the exploits of his past, you have a true living "Duke."
