"Yeah I know...but there are other guys who go through it too...dont just happen to you. Your not alone in your grief Luke....but you have to let her go Luke, you have to otherwise this is gonna drive you crazy. You can want her back all you like, you already know it can never happen...but there's some of Sara living on in Abi..."

He said softly.

Sammy watched them from the corner of her eye with a small smile as she continued to make the dinner. She knew how close they were, it was something she had grown to live with, something she had had to accept right from the word go. You couldn't have one Duke Boy without the other....no matter how big they had grown that was something that never changed.

Luke swallowed hard. It was ironic that he was the one always thought of as the stronger of the two cousins...the more closed-off one...uncaring. Even Jesse had once said that Luke had the sensativity of a buzz-saw. Deep-down though, in the innermost being, beat a heart as tender as Bo's if not more so.

For years, event after tragic event had caused his heart to become barricaded with thick walls, closing out everyone except the few people he loved and trusted, unwilling to allow his heart to be hurt any more. This with Sara though, had done things to him no one anticipated.

It had broken him, in every sense of the word.

Enos had spent a good forty-five minutes on the phone with his office back in Los Angeles. He thought that he could at least leave for a few days without any problems, but boy was he wrong. If he wasn't yelling for paperwork to be found, he was talking one of his younger colleagues through how to handle a simple situation. Still he rarely lost his patience completely and was as friendly as he ever was.

Upon hanging up the phone, he sighed out of relief. He checked his watch hoping that it was closer to time for to leave for dinner at the Dukes' place. Truthfully, Enos just wanted to enjoy his vacation time away from work and surrounded by friends.

For a long while Bo just stood there, comforting his older cousin and wishing to himself that Luke would stop being this miserable, broken down guy and return to being his confident older cousin. He loved Luke, he really did, but sometimes the weight of having to keep constantly picking Luke up and drying his tears was getting to his nerves. He'd never tell Luke of course, he couldn't leave Luke with no one to talk to. But it hadn't been days since Sara had passed, hadn't been months....it was years...around 5 years. He had expected grief, the doctors had expected grief...but no one had anticipated that Luke would stay stuck in it.

In all truth it wasn't doing great things with Abi either. Abi loved her father so would never say anything to upset him, even she knew that at only 5 years old. But she'd come to Uncle Bo, or Auntie Sammy, and ask them the questions she couldn't ask her dad. Like he had told Cassie, that was hard to deal with too, especially when she asked why her Daddy was always sad, why he wasn't like other Daddy's who seemed to be happy all the time.

Almost as if he knew Bo's thoughts, Luke pulled away once more, full of shame.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. He was the patriarch after all. He tried hard to think back to when Jesse had lost Lavinia. Jesse had grieved, but somehow had moved on, raising the kids on hs own. Luke had only been around thirteen then and, like his cousins, had taken their beloved aunt's passing hard, yet had seemed to bounce out of it with child-like elasticity.

Things were different this time...

"M'sorry Bo...know you got better things t' do than coddle me," he said with a grimace at the word "coddle". He hated that he was so needy anymore.

"You talked to Cassie right?" He hoped he had and that if nothing else she knew he wasn't interested in whatever she was peddaling. He wasn't ready for a relationship of any kind with a woman. In fact, he still wore his wedding ring: the one Sara had slipped on his finger that bright July day almost seven years before.

Cassie had begun her personal adventure through the woods, which was common in her younger days, but now seemed out of place. Taking a deep breath, she loved the scents that mixed together and the occasional rustle of the leaves. The argument with Bo hadn't set well on her nerves, and she hated that he thought she had an agenda.

The walk she took was slow, but she knew where to go to come back out by the hotel in town. This way no one would see her until she stepped foot back on pavement. For now, she could only wonder why things were back to square one with her. Had things really not gotten better for her? Not in her eyes. Los Angeles had created a new Cassie; maybe she couldn't say her name out loud anymore, but she did not forget it.

Amara Daylen had morphed into the Cassie that would've been given life, if she hadn't met Harvey when she was eighteen. Now, she was city girl with southern values and that made her distinct. Sometimes she wished that she hadn't made it to be this old, but she knew that no one ever got those kinds of wishes just by wishing.

Sighing, she continued to trudge back to town. Hurt.

Enos checked his watch. He conversed with himself what his options were for the afternoon. Being excited about going to dinner, he questioned whether or not he should leave then just to be early.

Finally, he lost the battle with himself and decided that being early would be the best thing to do. Slipping on his suit jacket, he patted the right side pocket absentmindedly. Something very valuable was being kept there until he had a chance to give it up. He wasn't sure, but he thought that he'd be able to get rid of it very soon.

After heading outside, he got into his rental vehicle and sped off to the Duke farm.

Bo sighed and nodded softly, muttering to himself.

"I sure did alright..." He hadn't meant Luke to hear it and he didnt know if his older cousin had, a bitter tone to his whispered words as the words she had spoken replayed in her head over and over agian, bringing his always close to the surfact temper bubbling back up again.

Daisy sighed as she finally crossed the county line into Hazzard County...her home. She'd been away a long time doing what she had to at college, and now she was home for a break and she couldn't wait to get there. She missed her cousins, her friends and she couldn't wait to catch up with them all again.

"Thank ya...now lets get cleaned up...i'll go check on TJ and Abi..."

he said before quickly making his way out the room to avoid more grilling from Luke. He knew he would get it again sometime before the day was out, and if Cassie showed up things were bound to spill over...but for now he just wanted to chill out some more, relax and calm down to the point where just thinking about the words didn't make him angry.

Bo quietly stepped into TJ\'s room, smiling as he saw his little boy curled up with his favourite stuffed animal - his monkey that Luke had brought for him when he was just a little baby - sucking on his thumb with a contented peaceful look on his face. His blonde hair was splayed over the pillow under his head. Bo couldn\'t help but smile at his son while he slept, he was such a joy to be around and have in his life...it was times like this he thought he had to be the luckiest father in the world.

Luke, on the other hand, quietly straightened up the house. It didn't need much. Sammy usually kept the place as immaculate as it could be with two little ones running around.

Carefully Luke picked up a doll from the floor and took it to his daughter's room.

Abi was still fast asleep though, in contrast to TJ who was a cuddler, slept spread-eagle, as if even in her sleep asserting her independance. She was very much like her dad in that way.

Luke quietly set the doll in its place among dozens of other toys on the window seat before turning once more to Abi, stroking back one of her dark curls.

Abi didn't notice, being far too tired. He tucked her in a little more and, like Bo had done, just stared at his daughter and stroked her pretty hair.

The drive for Enos was just another stimulator for him. The excitement and relaxed feeling he felt at the same time was his signal that he was home. Rolling down the window, he drove with one hand and let his elbow rest on the window's edge. He was letting himself drift back into the experience of Hazzard. Los Angeles had harden Enos a little, but he was still just as gentle as ever.

Unknowingly, he had pasted the exact spot that Cassie had been taking in the woods. Her trail hadn't been as well kept as it normally was, but that didn't stop her from traipsing back to the hotel that way. She had heard a car passed and convinced herself that it was Enos.

He fly down the country road, and not along after his departure, he had arrived at the Duke farm.

The sound of cars pulling up broke Luke from his thought. "Bo...sounds like Enos is here..." he called out.

He didn't really think Daisy would show up, she kept so busy all the time. And though he loved his cousin dearly, the truth was that the two just weren't as close anymore. Sure he missed her, loved her like a sister, but it had been Bo and Sammy who had helped him through his grieving while Daisy continued her studies.

Daisy had, of course, offered to stay on at the farm. One thing Jesse had taught his kids was to stand by each other. But Luke had begged her to go back to school, with the reasoning it would help him far more knowing she was safe and happy.

Daisy hadn't refused and though Luke wasn't sorry, he did miss his cousin-especially when Abi seemed to be taking after her tomboy ways.

Luke did a double take when he finally looked out teh window and saw not only Enos, but Daisy as well.
