I haven't heard that. Personally I doubt if that is true, Nashville being more centrally located, plus the fact that they have been making regular appearances at the grand ole opry...plus Cooter's place being there. Still since John and Elly are doing the show now, it is possible I guess. I haven't heard anything like that yet though.

I think the contract with the current venue is up after 2008 so 2009 would be 30 years could be possible.Still that's news to me. If they move it to Georgia they should move it to Covington where it was filmed. The only trouble with Covington is there isn't a big venue to support 30,000 people.

Last month on a General Lee forum, one of John's assistants posted.

He (the assistant) would like the 30th anniversary in Atlanta.

That would be nice.

I heard it again at the Friday Night Drags this past weekend. They are saying that it will move to the speedway and more will be added to the show line-up including a demolition derby, General Lee drag racing and other stuff.

That's cool for it to be in my backyard!!!!!!!

I think Atlanta would be good. Last time I was there was in 92 for Richard Petty's last race. I miss seeing the drag racing at Dukefest (in Nashville) it was one of the things I enjoyed about Bristol. But there just wasn't ANY shade in Bristol. I like the way Nashville opens all its consession stands so you can get something without as long a line and prices are competitive but you can find some a little cheaper than others.

Atlanta could likely hold the crowd also, but in 1992 if you were heading North coming out of the race you were advised to head South and go down a few exits then get off and head North. So there would likely be traffic problems in Atlanta too.

I guess with a 'family' as large as ours we can't have everything!

Welcome to Dukesfest.com! The new official home for the largest

event celebrating "The Dukes of Hazzard" in the world. DUKESFEST has

certainly come a long way from its humble beginnings in West

Virginia in 2001. Since then, Dukesfest has gone on to fill stadiums

AND RACE TRACKS ALL OVER THE US.

For 2008, Dukesfest is set to kick off under new management for the

first time ever. That's right - Ben Jones and his wife Alma are

passing the torch to John and Elly Schneider.

For the first time in thirty years, the Dukes finally come home -

that's right "The Dukes" return to Atlanta, Georgia - right where it

all began. So pack up the General Lee and head to "Capital City" TO

CELEBRATE THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF DUKES OF HAZZARD!

CHECK OUT the original shooting locations while you are in the area

and meet the cast and crew when the real "Dukes" take over the

Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 28 - 29th, 2008!

All everyone.... the above is on the home page for the site

www.dukesfest.com . Scott has done a tremendous job with this

site. Please visit it and dream of the times when things were

simpler and we all spent our Friday evenings watching the Dukes of

Hazzard. Make your plans to visit DukesFest too. It is going to be

in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 28 - 29. Tickets may be purchased

beginning mid-November. Details at www.dukesfest.com .
