  1. <back to present> "So that's why Dad gives you those every year?" "That's why," said Daisy. "In fact, it's coming up again pretty soon." "So how'd he propose then?" "Well," said Daisy. "That was a bit later. Remember I told you how we almost got married once?" "Yeah," said Lily. "You saw him moving money and thought he was robbing the bank, but you didn't want to testify against him so you got married." "Well," said Daisy. "We were going to, then he found out why I had asked him and called it off. Then they caught the crooks and we were going to get married anyway. But he got the hives and the last minute." "I still think that was a pretty lame excuse," said Lily. "I think it was a cover up," said Daisy. "I think, after all that, he still wasn't sure if I loved him or not. "Sure ya did," said Lily. "Didn't you?" "That's just it," said Daisy. "I didn't really know myself..."
  2. <FLASHBACK TO 1969-1976> Daisy was in seventh grade when the first flowers came. It was Valentine's Day and the thing just fell out of her locker. "What?" Daisy wondered. It was a single rose with a single daisy tied to it with string. There was a note written in very bad handwriting. To the prettiest girl in Hazzard. "Oh brother," said Daisy, who hadn't much interest in boys yet. The next year, on the same day, there were two roses with two daisies, and the note was the same. "But Valentine's day is tomorrow," Daisy said to herself. "Tomorrow's Saturday," Maybelle laughed. "Can't very well leave them there over the weekend can we?" "Do you know who put these here?" "No idea," said Maybelle. "But I'd flash those in front of Emily if I was you." "No way," said Daisy, hiding the flowers. Her freshmen year, three roses and three daisies came, once again, on the Friday before Valentines Day, as it was on Sunday and Monday was Presidents Day. "Right on time," Daisy grinned. She was starting to like the flowers now, even though she had no idea where they came from. They came the next year too, four of each this time, with the same note, on Valentine's Day itself, as it was a Monday. Daisy was rushing to her locker on Valentines Day her junior year when she stopped. Cooter was already there, picking the lock and putting the flowers in it. "Cooter Davenport!" Daisy yelled. "What?" asked Cooter, turning around. "Oh hey Daisy. That's better. I can deliver these in person." There were five of each this time. "You mean you were sending these all this time?" Daisy asked. "What?" asked Cooter. "No Daisy, it wasn't me. Not that I don't like ya an' all...but I'm just a delivery boy as what's-his-face done graduated last year and couldn't bring 'em himself." "Oh," said Daisy, grinning. "So he graduated last year?" "I shouldn'ta said that," said Cooter. Daisy was able to narrow it down after that. She was sure they weren't from Luke, which left only five other guys, but she still couldn't put her finger on just one. Cooter delivered her flowers her last year in high school (six of each). The year after that, Cooter brought them out to the farm. Then, on a chilly Saturday, Daisy found out. She was wiping down the bar at the Boar's Nest, having only worked there for almost a year. It was almost time for the lunch crowd to come in, when she saw Rosco and his new deputy. Daisy smiled over at the deputy, who obviously had a crush on her. They had gone to school together and Bo and Luke had kept in touch with him over the years. Rosco went into the back room as the deputy approached the counter. She didn't noticed that he had something behind his back. "Hey Enos," Daisy said. "Can I get you a buttermilk?" "Sure Daisy," said Enos, sitting down. "That'd be swell." "I got it all ready for you," Daisy said, pouring it in a glass. "There you go." "Thanks," said Enos, taking a drink with one hand, the other still behind his back. "Enos?" Daisy asked, noticing he was hiding something. "What you got back there?" "Well Daisy," said Enos, blushing a bit. "You know what day it is don't ya?" "Sure I do," said Daisy. "Well," said Enos, looking down and pulling it out. "These are for you." Daisy gasped. It was a bouquet of exactly eight roses and eight daisies. "Oh Enos!" Daisy cried. "Oh I should have known it was you!" "I always said you were the prettiest girl in Hazzard," said Enos. "Oh Enos," was all Daisy could think to say. And every year he did the same thing. Daisy even started putting the flowers in his glass once he had finished his buttermilk. When he was in L.A., Rosco brought the flowers in and Cletus would drink the buttermilk, even though he didn't care for it. It just made Daisy all the more glad when Enos came home.
  3. We would agree. Who knows, maybe Jessica Simpson will actually do a fairly decent job of portraying Daisy, even though she doesn't really look like her. As long as she does the good-looking tomboy thing right, she may do Daisy justice.
  4. thanks for all the tips. they'll probably wind up in there eventually. Right now, it's getting into a lot of sentimental flashbacks as Daisy tells Lily how she and Enos got married. You might want to have tissues handy.
  5. <back to present> Lily was teary-eyed at Daisy told her the story. "So he lost his mama when he was just four?" "He did," said Daisy. "And his daddy and older brother never did treat him right after that. I think they were jealous that he got to say goodbye to her and they didn't." "Well," said Lily. "That wasn't his fault." "No," said Daisy. "It wasn't." "So he grew up and decided to marry you?" Lily asked. "Like I said," said Daisy. "There was a bit more to it than that." "Like what?" "Well," said Daisy. "My parents died when I was six, and I had to go live with Uncle Jesse, Bo and Luke. Enos hung around Bo and Luke a lot and that's kind of how we got to know each other. Oh I flirted with him a lot, but he didn't like girls then. The tables kind of turned in Jr. High." "How so?" asked Lily. "I started getting flowers..."
  6. <FLASHBACK TO 1950's> Emma Jackson and Rosalie Henderson were inseperable when they were growing up. The two girls were best friends from the get go. Emma was the outgoing one, never paying much attention to boys, and always talking about going somewhere and doing something. "One of these days," Emma would say. "I'm gonna get out of this little podunk town and see the city!" "And what will you do once you get there?" Rosalie would ask. "Make my mark," said Emma. "Make sure everyone knew that I had been there." "Will you ever come home then?" asked Rosalie. "Sure I will," said Emma. "That's the best part of adventure. You can always come home if you're tired of it. Rosalie always laughed when Emma said that. Rosalie was the quieter one who liked Hazzard and never wanted to leave. It didn't work out the way they expected it to. Emma took a weekend school trip to Atlanta when she was fifteen. They were just supposed to spend some time in a museum and stay the night in the hotel. But one of the boys snuck into Emma's room... Emma never told anyone what happened to her, except Rosalie, who kept the secret. "What are you gonna do?" asked Rosalie. "What if you're...?" "I don't want to think about it," Emma said. "But just in case, he said he'd marry me." "Oh Emma," said Rosalie. "I'm gonna have to quit school though," said Emma. "We're eloping this weekend. You can come if you want." "Of course I will," said Rosalie. Nine months later, Emma gave birth to a baby boy. Rosalie would come visit her after school, in a small wooden farmhouse out in the woods. "He runs shine doesn't he?" Rosalie asked, as Emma rocked her baby. "He does," said Emma. "Does he ever run with the Duke boys?" Rosalie asked. "Sometimes," said Emma, grinning. "You still got your eye on one of them?" "Yeah," said Rosalie. "But I don't think he'll ever notice me." "He will," said Emma. "He will." Two years later, that Duke boy did take notice of Rosalie, especially after Emma's husband mentioned it to him. Johnathan Thomas Duke married Rosalie as soon as she was out of school. Not long after Rosalie was married, Emma got pregnant again. While she had her first baby in a hospital, the second one started coming two months early and Emma wasn't ready. Fortunately, Rosalie was with her. "Hang on Emma," Rosalie said. "Just a little bit more." Emma gave birth to her second son out there in the woods by her husband's still. Even though he was early, he was still a good size. "Look at him," said Rosalie, wrapping him up in her apron. "He's bigger than his brother." "I'm glad he was early then," said Emma, taking her baby. "I don't think I could've handled it if he'd have gotten any bigger." Two years after that, it was Emma's turn to help. She delievered Rosalie's daughter in the back of a black coupe as Johnathan Duke was speeding away from the cops. "You could stop you know!" Emma called. "Push Rosie!" "I got a load of shine in the trunk!" Johnathan called back. "They catch me and we all wind up in the clink." "Oh you shut up," yelled Rosalie. "Yes dear." Emma and Rosalie sat on the front porch of Rosalie's home. Emma had her younger boy on her lap. He was only two and fast asleep. Rosalie held her new baby daughter and was rocking her to sleep as well. "You know," said Emma. "Wouldn't it be something if my boy married your little girl?" "It would," said Rosalie. "I hope we're around to see it." Unfortunately, Emma fell sick two years later. Her husband was off in Atlanta and had taken her older son with him. The little four-year-old was the only one there. "Come here," Emma said to her little boy. "Are you dyin' mama?" he asked. "Yes honey," she said sadly. "Now you listen to me. There's two things I want you to do." "Okay." "First," she said. "If you ever get the chance to leave Hazzard and see some other part of the world, take it. You can always come home later." The little boy nodded, even though he didn't quite understand. "Also," she said. "Marry for love." "Marry who?" "Well," said his mother. "Whoever you want. But make sure you love her...and don't you do anything until you're married." "Okay mama," said the boy, even though he still didn't understand. "And don't ever forget," said Emma. "I love you Enos."
  7. Even after the fun of the chase, Lily and Enos still butted heads from time to time. It was usually when she started getting out some of her short dresses and shorts for Spring, even though it wasn't quite warm enough yet. He'd make her put them back and said she could only wear them with something over them. This, among other small arguments, kept the rift between them open. "But Dad," Lily whined. "I always wore these in California." "That was before you done grown two inches," said her father. "Those shorts are too short for your long legs." "Oh good grief," said Lily. "Either stitch 'em or toss 'em," he said, going out the door to work. "That's final." Lily groaned and went to her room to change. If she snuck them to school, Lucas or Tommy would snitch on her. She stuck with jeans and headed out, glad that she was going to visit her mom after school. "Sometimes I wonder Mom," said Lily, as she held baby Georgia. "What did you see in him?" "Oh Lily," said her mother as she fed little George. "It's what he saw in me that I wonder about." "Oh come on," said Lily. "I saw a picture. You were hot." "Well thank you," Daisy laughed. "But there's a little more to it than that." "Like what?" asked Lily. "Well," said Daisy. "You have to go all the way back to the beginning to really know."
  8. that might fit in there. We have Luke 2 years older than Daisy and 3 years older than Bo. Luke and Enos are the same age, as are Bo and Cooter.
  9. We'll have to stick with Smokey and the Bandit, as we haven't seen a whole lot of others and it had Burt Reynolds in it as well as Ben Jones, Sonny Shroyer, and (rumored) John Schnieder.
  10. Chris pulls Daisy out into the woods while Mark and Kate take Bo and Luke out to an old still site. Chris: Now you just stay out here with me baby. Daisy: I ain't your baby. What are they gonna do to Bo and Luke? Chris: Don't worry. It'll be quick and painless. Frankly, I'm quite glad they let me take care of you. Daisy: You stay away from me! Mark: No quick moves now boy. Bo: Luke...please wake up Luke. Kate: (holding Luke's head) Oh he will...he'll wake up with the angels. Bo: You know he loved you right? He got so mad when I told him you were a crook. Kate: So did the last man I charmed into giving me what I want. Bo: What is it you want anyway? Why'd ya'll do this to Luke? Cooter and Enos find the general area, but aren't sure where the hideout is. Cooter: They've gotta be around here somewhere. Enos: Hey...I think Mr. Hogg has a still somewhere around here. Cooter: You remember where? Enos: I think it's right over that ridge. Cooter: I'll go check it out. You stay here. Enos: But... Cooter: Enos, you just busted out of the hospital and you're not even wearing a shirt. Enos: Well I wasn't about to go running around in a hospital gown and my pants. Cooter: I sure wish you had your gun though. Cooter sneaks over to the ridge where Mark and Kate have Bo and Luke. At the same time, Enos hears something in the woods and goes towards the noise.
  11. At the Boar's Nest, only Bo orders a beer. Luke and Cooter drink rootbeer and Enos has a buttermilk. Luke: There's kids here you know. Bo: Yeah, I'm glad mine isn't old enough to know a bad example yet. Cooter: One of these days Bo. Enos: She'll be a teenager before you know it. Enos glances at Lily, who rolls her eyes and drinks a grape soda. Lucas and Tommy both drink buttermilk. At least, Lucas drinks his. Tommy has too much fun blowing bubbles in it. Enos: Hey Lily...stand up for a minute. Lily: (standing up) Huh? What? Enos: I want to see something. Enos gets up and walks Lily over to the bar. Enos: Get behind there for a minute. Lily: Dad! I'm only sixteen! Enos: I know that. I just want to see something. Lily shrugs and gets behind the bar. She's wearing high-healed boots and is pretty tall for her age. Enos is still looking at her funny, so she finds a box back there, stands on it, and leans over the bar. Enos: Possum on a gumbush. Lily: Huh? Luke: Well I'll be. Bo: I can hardly believe it. Lily: What? Enos: Not quite...just a minute. Enos fluffs Lily's hair a bit to make it more wavy. Lily, who prefers to keep it straight, finds this very annoying. Lily: Oh Dad. I had to blow-dry it for 10 minutes to get it straight this morning. Enos: There. Spittin' image isn't it? Luke: The very same. Bo: I half expect her to come out from back there in heels and those shorts. Enos: Ain't no way am I gonna let her wear them shorts. Lily: Can I get down now? Enos: Sure honey. It's just that for a minute there, you looked exactly like your mother. Lily: Oh Dad. Lily laughs and gets out from behind the bar. Lily: What shorts? Luke: Your mama used to wear shorts so short... Bo: They drove men crazy from here to the state line. Enos: Further than that Bo. Lily: Really? Luke: Too bad your daddy won't let you wear 'em. Enos: Now you stop giving my daughter ideas. You have any idea what them shorts did to people? Bo: I think we know what they did to you. Enos: Exactly. Lily: What did they do? Enos: Never you mind. You don't want to know what goes through boys' heads when they see a girls legs like that. Lily: Hmmmmm. Enos: Dang it Luke, you done givin' her ideas! Lily: Oh Dad, don't worry about it. I have no intention of wearing shorts like that. Enos: Good. Lily: Although I do remember seeing a picture of Mom in those... Enos: Huh? I thought I hid all them pictures... Lily purses her lips and looks at Cherry, who's hiding behind her glass of chocolate milk. Enos: You weren't in our room were ya? Lily: Maybe for a little bit...I was uh... Enos: Never mind, I don't want to hear it. Enos laughs to show he's not mad and sits back down at the table. Lily lets out a slow breath, as does Cherry. T.J. lets out a loud belch as he's just downed a whole bottle of rootbeer. T.J.: <blushing> pardon me. Cooter: Good one...how's this? As Cooter and his son commence a burping contest, Luke takes Cherry home in the General. Enos looks over at an old man, smiling from the other side of the Boar's Nest, and walks over to him. Rosco: I saw you go into the pond, you dipstick. Enos: <sitting down> You went in the pond plenty of times... Rosco: Don't try to blame me boy! You done me proud you know. Enos: Thanks Sherriff. Rosco: Enos, how many times do I have to tell you? YOU are the Sherriff now. Enos: Sorry. Force of habit. Rosco: <laughs> It was a force of habit that made you lock ol' Boss in that cell remember? Enos: <laughs> Yeah...and I thought claustrophobia was contagious. Rosco: You were a dipstick. Enos: I know. Some things never change. Rosco: (looking over at the kids) Well something obviously did. Enos: Oh not you too. I get enough of that from Luke. Rosco: <laughs> You know, that girl of yours sure does look a lot like Daisy. Enos: I know. That's what worries me. Rosco: Oh come now. Daisy managed to save herself for you too you know. Enos: I know. But Bo and Luke had to hold her to it. I understand that there were some close calls. Rosco: Well...yes...but only when you'd done run off to L.A. Enos: I know...I should've stuck around... Rosco: No, I think it did you good. You were ten times smarter than me once you got back. And you were able to get Daisy to settle down in the end. Enos: Yeah...you're right. Rosco: Well it was worth it wasn't it? Enos: It sure was Rosco...it sure was.
  12. They don't run shine anymore, but they do mention that they can't leave the farm for steady work in "Route 7-11"
  13. Chris: What about the cop? Kate: I'll go take care of him. Bo: Oh come on now! Ain't you done enough damage already? Mark: What do you care about some cop pretty boy? Bo: He happens to be our friend...not to mention that he's in love with our cousin Daisy. Chris: Well that's just all the more reason to take care of you boys...you hang around cops to much. Kate sneaks back into the hospital. Bo: Please, can you at least let me try to revive Luke. Mark: Oh go ahead. But it ain't gonna work. Bo: Luke! Luke buddy, you gotta wake up. At that time, Daisy and Cooter arrive at the hospital, looking for Bo and to check on Luke. Cooter checks the front parking lot as Daisy goes to Luke's room. Daisy finds that Luke isn't in his room and starts to panic. Daisy: Luke! Where are you? Kate: (putting a gun to her back) Oh he's with us honey. How about I take you to him? Daisy: Kate! Oh I ain't ever gonna forget this you dirty... Kate: Save the names for later dear...come on this way... Cooter gets worried when he can't find Daisy. He checks Enos's room, where Enos has just woken up. Enos: Cooter? What's going on? Cooter: Daisy been in here? Enos: No. Why? Cooter: Well, I hate to bother ya but Bo's in trouble. Me an' Daisy came here to find him, but I lost her. Enos: Cooter... Cooter: I shouldn'ta told you that. Enos: (getting up) Let's go. Cooter: Enos...you really shouldn't... Enos: Daisy's in trouble <ow> and I ain't gonna lie here <oooh> Cooter: I don't think... Enos: I'm going with you, now git! Cooter: Well at least put some pants on. Enos pulls on his pants and follows Cooter out of the room. They head over to a window and see Kate walking Daisy out to a police car. Cooter: Oh man...I knew it. Enos: That's that lady Luke was with. Cooter: Yeah, and tried to kill him. Enos: I can see Bo and Luke in that car...but it looks like Luke is out. Cooter: I thought he was getting better? Enos: Now they got all three of them. Cooter: They took Bo as a hostage so they could escape...they took Luke cuz they wanted him dead to begin with...but why take Daisy? Enos: <sighs> They wanted me dead too... Cooter: Uh oh. You mean...? Enos: If anything happens to Daisy...I might as well be... Cooter: Ain't no one gonna wind up dead Enos...Come on. Kate walks Daisy out to the car. Chris: I thought you were getting the cop. Kate: This is better...at least if he's really in love with her. Daisy: You mean you're gonna use me to...? Mark: That's right. Daisy: What's wrong with Luke? Bo: He won't wake up. Kate: Oh get in there. Chris, get us to the hideout. Chris: Yes ma'am. Chris drives the car as Kate holds Daisy at gunpoint up front. Mark has the knife to Bo in the back, but doesn't really need it as Bo is busy trying to revive Luke. But as they drive off, they don't notice a dirty towtruck following them. Enos: Just don't let them know we're here. Cooter: I'm trying. You'd think they'd lose the police car though. Enos: They will soon. Dang, I wish I had my gun. Balladeer: Me too. I'd shoot anyone who'd try to hurt Daisy.
  14. He had a rough childhood yes, but that's to show how much he had to overcome to get where he is now.
  15. Lily was hanging laundry when the orange car came out of nowhere, blowing a horn that played Dixie. Lucas and Tommy ran out of the house just as it was speeding away. Lily: What in the...? Tommy: IT'S THE GENERAL LEE! Lucas points as the sherriff's car speeds by as well. Enos waves and keeps going. A tow truck pulls up. Cooter: Pile in. Ya'll wanna see what your daddy did before he done got hitched? Tommy and Lucas jump right in. Lily hesitates, so T.J. and Cherry grab her and drag her in so Cooter can take off again. Bo: Well, seeing as Cooter picked up more kids... Luke: If you're gonna do another jump... Bo: Hold on... Luke: Oh L... Bo make another jump, this time through a construction site. Enos follows suit, but Cooter goes around. Lily: I don't believe this...was that...Dad? Tommy: It's just like the stories! They follow the chase cross country as well, including the General, Sherriff's car, and towtruck going through a barn. Luke: I hope you like eggs. Bo: What have eggs got to do with this? Luke: Where there's chickens there's eggs. Bo: Woa...deja vu. As they crash out the other side of the barn... Bo: That sure was a funny place to put a barn. Luke: Try that fool stunt again, and I'll find a funnier place to put one. Bo: How about another jump? Luke: Not unless you let me out first. Bo: Oh all right. We're coming up on the pond anyway. Cooter: Now for the grand finale. Hazzard pond is coming up. Tommy: Oh no! Not the pond! Bo: We really shouldn't. Luke: But you're going to anyway. Bo: I can't help it Luke. It's right there. Enos: They wouldn't...oh yes they would...oh ding dang it... Bo makes a sharp turn right before reaching the pond. Enos cheers and laughs as his car goes flying in to the water. Bo: At least he can swim. Luke: Yeah, we always had to double check on Rosco. Bo and Luke climb out of the car as Enos swims up to them. Enos: WHOOO WEEE Fellas I ain't had a good chase like that in years! Bo: Well, we figured it'd cheer you up. Luke: How about we treat you to a drink now. Enos: (pulling out a soggy ticket book) As soon as I write your ticket. Enos is writing their ticket as the tow truck pulls up and the kids pile out. Tommy: WOW DADDY THAT WAS JUST LIKE THE STORIES! Enos: It sure was...Let's see...speeding...reckless driving...damage to county property...assulting an officer... Bo: We didn't do that! Enos: I'm all wet ain't I?...now...there you go boys...you can either pay it...or buy me a drink. Luke: (looks at the ticket) Looks like we're going to the Boar's Nest. Tommy: Oh boy! Enos: Not you! Ain't a fittin' place for kids. Lily: I'll watch him Daddy. Enos looks at her and sees how much she looks like Daisy. Enos: Well okay, but just this once...Cooter?...Are you just gonna stand there or are you gonna get my car out? Cooter: Oh yes sir Sherriff! Cooter tows the police car to the Boar's Nest while Bo and Luke let all the kids ride in the General. Bo: You know...it's too bad Rosco missed all that. Luke: Oh he saw it. Didn't you notice that old gray sedan? Bo: That was...? Luke: There was a basset hound in the passenger seat. The both bust up laughing.
  16. Bo took to driving the General like a duck to water (or a Duke) and skidded the car right in front of the Sherriff's station, where Enos was just about to get into his car. He got out of the way by somersaulting over his own hood. Enos: Possum on a gumbush! It's the General Lee! Bo blows the horn again and takes off down the road, but only after banging into Enos's car first. Enos: OH YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT NOW! Enos jumps in his car and turns on the sirens. Bo speeds away out of the square with Enos in hot pursuit. Enos: (into CB) In-laws or not Bo Duke. That's Hazzard County property! You done scuffed my vehicle and now I'm gonna have to give ya'll a ticket! Bo: You know the rules Enos ol' buddy! You gotta catch us first! Enos: That's just what I aim to do buddy boy! Cooter follows in his truck, laughing up a storm. Cooter: Now you kids watch real close. The creek is coming up. T.J.: What creek? Cherry: That one! Bo leaps the General over the creek and bounces down on the other side. Luke: Ooooh, my kidneys are WAY too old for this. Bo: Not mine. What say we do it again? Luke: ARE YOU INSANE! Bo: Just kidding. Here he comes! Enos leaps the sherriff's car over the creek. Bo: Well shoot, he made it. Luke: (picks up CB) You give up yet? Enos: Not on your life! I ain't had this much fun in years! Luke: All right Enos. Let's see how you handle this. Bo takes off again down the back dirt roads. Enos stays right on their tail, enjoying every minute of it. Bo: You know. It's a pity his kids are missing all this. Luke: Well...why not drop by and let 'em know what's going on? Bo laughs and turns up another dirt road.
  17. Things were pretty rough on the Strate family for the next couple of months. Daisy kept having to go to the hospital for check ups and to feed the twins, which left Lily playing Mom for Lucas and Tommy half the time. Lucas came down with the flu and had to stay home for a week, so Jill came over to take care of him, and then came down with the flu herself. Tommy wasn't his normal cheerful self without his mommy and kept asking when she'd be home. And once again, Lily and Enos were at each other's throats. Lily: He's driving me nuts. Doesn't he know I'm doing the best I can? Cherry: Sure he does, but he's worn out too. Lily: Well that's not my fault. Cherry: It's no one's fault. He's probably just grumpy without your mom around. Lily: I guess. I still don't want to go home yet. Cherry: Then stick around a while. Lily: Can't. I told Lucas I'd help him with math and I gotta make dinner. As Lily trudges her way home, Cherry sighs. Cherry: I wish I could help. T.J.: (walking up) Help with what? Cherry: Lily. Everybody at her house is all stressed out with her mom gone all the time. T.J.: Well...let's do something. Cherry: Like what? T.J.: I dunno...but what say we ask our folks if they got any ideas. Your dad and Bo are already at the garage. The two of them go over to the garage, where the three men are chatting about cars. Luke: I must say, that old blue plymouth was a beaut. Bo: Yeah. Too bad we had to blow it up. Cooter: Held a lot of shine too. Luke: Which you should have told us was in there. Cooter: Hey, it worked out didn't it? Bo: Yeah, with us almost becoming midwives in the process. Luke: What's up Cherry? The kids explain the situation to them. Luke: Is it that bad? Bo: Cletus did mention that Enos's been a bit...cranky. T.J.: We think he misses his wife. Luke: Well shoot, that'd make anyone cranky. Cooter: So how 'bout cheering him up a bit? Bo: How? Luke: Lemme think...We can't very well give him what he wants... Cooter: Yeah...Daisy needs to take care of the twins... Bo: Well...what else would cheer him up? Luke: <snaps fingers> I got it...Let's go Bo. Bo: Oh great...Now I'll get in trouble. Cherry: What is it Dad? Luke: We'll just give Enos something to cheer him up like we used to in the old days... Cooter: Like the old days before he got married? Luke: Exactly...Remember what used to make him happier than a hog in slop. Bo: Do I ever! I think it's time we took out the General! Bo and Luke run to the back of the garage and take a tarp off of the famous orange Dodge charger, with on 01 on the side, a confederate flag on the top, and the words GENERAL LEE on the sides. T.J.: Wow! Cherry: Sweet! Cooter: You kids can ride with me in the truck. Ya'll are about to get a good ol' fashioned history lesson. Bo and Luke climb in through the windows of the General Lee and take off, blowing the horn. <DIXIE PLAYS REALLY LOUD>
  18. Uncle Jesse and Bo are about the leave the station when Kate calls Bo over. Bo: Go ahead Uncle Jesse. Uncle Jesse walks out to start up the truck as Bo goes over to talk to Kate. Bo: Now what. Kate: Oh Bo. You are such a sweet boy. You ain't gonna let them put us in prison are you? Bo: Don't you try any of that sweet talk on me lady! You've done enough damage to Luke. Not to mention what he'd do to me if I took his girl anyway. But while Kate is talking, Mark clubs Bo over the head with his fist and knocks him out. He then gets Bo's jackknife out of his pocket and picks the lock. Chris: Good work Kate. Kate: You too Mark. Mark: (opening jail) Okay, I'll hold the knife to him as you two get some guns. The three of them exit the jail. When the cops see them, they hold Bo up with the knife to his throat. Bo is starting to regain consciousness and realizing what's going on. Mark: Drop your guns! The cops drop their guns and Chris and Kate take them away. The three of them get into a police car. Chris hotwires it while Mark gets in the backseat with Bo and Kate rides shotgun with a shotgun. Kate: (pointing gun at Bo) No quick moves now pretty boy. You'll be seeing that handsome cousin of yours real soon. Bo: Do what you like with me. Just don't hurt Luke. You've done enough to him. Mark: Apparantly not, seeing as you gave it away that he's still living. Chris: But he won't be for long if those little pills do their job. Bo is scared out of his wits as they drive off towards the hospital.
  19. Also, on a lighter note, please don't take offense if you like Rush Limbaugh. We just threw that in there cuz our Mom was listening to him when we were writing that part and we thought it'd be funny (especially since Ben Jones is a democrat).
  20. Here's just a place for you to make your comments about The Next Generation, and maybe some ideas you'd like to suggest. Does everyone like the Flashback idea, where occaisionally the story shows something that the original Dukes did when they were kids? What are some things you'd like to know about when the Dukes were younger? We had someone suggest the stories of how they were born, which is why those flashbacks wound up in there. It worked out well with Daisy having the twins.
  21. While Bo and Uncle Jesse are talking, the phone rings. Uncle Jesse answers it and talks to Daisy. Uncle Jesse: (hanging up phone) Good news Bo! Enos is okay and Luke was even able to talk to him. Bo: Good. Maybe Enos can talk some sense into him. Jesse: Now don't put all that on Enos right now. He has been shot you know. Bo: Oh right. Well, I guess it's up to us then. Balladeer: Now unbeknownst to them, Kate and her friends could hear them from their cell in the next room. Kate: Oh my goodness...Luke is alive! Mark: And so's that cop. Chris: Now what do we do? That cop can identify us and Luke can identify Kate. Mark: We'll just have to finish what we started. Kate: How? Chris: By busting out of here. Mark: But this place is swarming with cops! Chris: We'll need a hostage. As he says this, his eyes rest on Bo, who's talking to the Sweetwater sherriff in the next room. Balladeer: I don't know how many more twists I can take! Ya'll stick around.
  22. Lily will always remember it as one of the hardest Christmas's to wake up to, but one of the most worthwhile. Daisy was still in the hospital and they were going to visit her later in the day. Enos sat on the couch, sipping his coffee, as Tommy and Lucas came down the hall and Lily jumped down from the ceiling. "Get dressed ya'll," said Enos. "We're going over to the Dukes for Christmas." Lily couldn't interpret that tone of voice. It was somewhat sad, but had another element to it she hadn't heard before. At the Dukes, they arrived in time to watch Cherry and Daisy Mae open their presents (although Daisy Mae was more interested in the boxes). "Did Santa forget to come to our house?" Tommy asked. "No," said Enos. "He got something for all three of you, but I told him to leave it here. Now all of you close your eyes." Lily knew that money had been tight, with the move and the hospital and the twins and all. She hadn't really been expecting anything. She had Tommy on one side and Lucas on the other as they all closed their eyes and let Enos guide them outside. "All right," said Enos. "You can open them now." They all opened thier eyes and cheered. There, sitting by the barn, was their mother. "Well come on," Daisy laughed. "Come see what your daddy got you!" "MOMMY!" Tommy cried, running up to her. "Now take it easy," said Enos with a grin. "We don't want to hurt Mommy either." They all ran over to Daisy and saw she had something wrapped up in her coat. "What is it?" asked Tommy. Lucas picked at the bundle. "Oh wow!" said Lily. Poking it's little black nose through the coat, was a tiny wee puppy. It's eyes weren't hardly open yet. "Now be careful," said Daisy. "It was just born yesterday." "It's so tiny," said Lily. "Like the twins." "It was the runt," said Enos. "It's mama won't take care of it." "We'll take care of it," said Tommy, letting the puppy suck on his finger. "It'll be a lot of work though," said Daisy. "Just like those doctors are working hard to help the twins grow, you three need to work hard to help this little puppy." She handed the puppy to Lucas, who held it up to his face. The puppy barely opened it's eyes and licked his nose. Lucas laughed. "What are we gonna call him?" asked Tommy. "First make sure it is a him," said Lily. Lucas checked and nodded. "How about it Tommy?" Lily asked. "I dunno," said Tommy. "He should have a big dog name," said Lily. "If he thinks he's a big dog, he'll grow." Lucas grinned and held the puppy. He'd already picked out the perfect name. Once Lily and Tommy knew what it was, they couldn't argue. And that was the Christmas they brought home their mother, as well as a tiny bloodhound puppy named Hercules.
  23. have you ever considered debate? you're awful good at it.
  24. While Rosco is talking to Roy and Sally about what they saw, Big Jim informs Layla that her siblings are okay. Luke, while confined to his room, is allowed to make a call home. Daisy: <picking up phone> Hello? Luke: Hey Daisy Daisy: Luke! How you feeling? Luke: I'm fine. How are you? Daisy: I guess I'm okay. Luke: You better be...I just wanted to tell you that Enos is okay. Daisy: HE IS? Luke: I just talked to him. Daisy: Oh Luke, you just made my day! Luke: Sure Daisy. Where's Bo and Uncle Jesse? Daisy: Oh they went out to Sweetwater county to see if they can identify the people who shot Enos. Luke: I'm telling you it wasn't Kate! Daisy: Well if it wasn't, then there's nothing for you to worry about then is there? Luke: I think she was framed. Daisy: Luke, you've been hanging around Rosco too much. Luke: But... Daisy: Now you listen to me. You stay put. Don't think I didn't hear about you trying to get out of that hospital. You stay there and this whole thing will work itself out. If Kate is innocent... Luke: Which she is. Daisy: Then there's nothing to worry about. The people in Sweetwater are tough, but they're fair. They'll figure out who hurt Enos, if they were the same people that hurt you, and if Kate was involved. Luke: Which she wasn't. Daisy: Oh Luke, you are impossible. You must be feeling better. Luke: Thanks. Daisy hangs up and sighs. While exasperated with Luke, she couldn't help but feel relief that both he and Enos were okay.
  25. After Enos visited with Daisy, he let Lily go in and see her mother. Then the nurse took him to the nursery. There, in two little incubators, were his two small children. He wasn't able to touch them yet, but he just watched them. George kept looking over at his sister. Georgia hardly moved at all, except her tiny mouth. Bo and Luke had called the house and Amy brought Lucas and Tommy to see their mother. After a while, Enos brought all three of them to see the twins. Tommy: Are all babies that little? Enos: No, just early babies. Tommy: Will they be okay? Lily: They'll be fine. They'll just have to live in those boxes for a while. Tommy: Why? Enos: So they can stay warm. Tommy: Will they be home by Christmas? Lily had nearly forgotten about Christmas. Enos: I don't think so. But Mommy should be. Lily looked up at the calendar. It was December 15th, ten days before Christmas. Lily: <thinking to herself> Won't be hard to remember this birthday.
