Lol! Congratulations!

I liked some parts of school, like art, shop class, lunch, and recess.
-
Wow. Glad I wasn't the only one. It wasn't for everyone, that's for sure!
-
That was me, pretty much daily, no matter what the weather was. I've always been the high energy, can't sit still for long, type of person. Being "locked up" in school 8 hours a day was torture. I know exactly what those poor animals in the zoo feel like.

Currently, there are no Chevrolet's in NASCAR, and there haven't been for a very long time.

Wow, not bad HossC, not bad.

Of course. That's been a sales trick forever. But it depends on the product. If a seller is a dealer selling inventory of currently manufactured product, they might use that tactic. But if a seller is selling antiques, old collectables, thrift store items, etc, then 'last one" probably means last one. For example, I had two identical Rickard Petty floor mats in my collection for many years. They were still brand new, I decided to sell them. I listed them as a single item but I had two available. Once the first one sold, eBay marked "last one" on the listing because I only had one left. When I'm shopping on eBay, I ignore the "last one" tag, I don't let that persuade me to purchase anything.

I appreciate that HossC! So glad she didn't set off the smoke detector or something. She was always cooking & baking. Please don't get the wrong idea, she was an awesome cook. She never triggered the smoke detector, but if she was ever going to, it would be while I was recording. You know how it goes.

Thanks RogerDuke, I enjoy being here. I do still have that cassette! I'm anxious to dig that out, both of my parents have passed and they may have been captured talking in the backgroind. I desperately want to hear their voices again. First I need to find a tape deck that I can trust to not eat that tape.

Oh yes! I hated homework. I hated school just as much!

I finally had a chance to do some exploring on this site and came across this thread. I started reading page 1, then had to skip to the last page to leave a comment. I will go back and read the rest later. This is definitely my all time favorite movie! And I have to share this memory with you guys: Back when I was around 9 years old, this had to be about 1980 or '81, somewhere in there. I remember it was my birthday, and my mom told me that the TV Guide showed that Smokey and the Bandit was going to be on at 7pm that night. Man, I was so excited, I couldn't wait until it came on! Now for all you young sheep out there, if you wanted to watch a favorite TV show or movie back then, you had to be up to date on your TV schedule and be in front of your TV at the right time if you wanted to see it. There was no renting it, streaming it, or buying it, back then. And you would hope the weather was good so it would come in clear! How many of you seasoned gents remember the frustration of a snowy picture?? Then around lunch time, my dad came home and he brought me a birthday gift. I got to open it right away, and found myself the proud owner of a brand new Panasonic cassette recorder and a 3 pack of blamk 90 minute tapes! Woohoo! I played with that thing all day, secretly recording peoples conversations, then playing them back for them. We had a lot of fun that day. Today, you'd probably go to jail for that. Then, after all visitors were gone and the house was quiet, I kept watching the clock, every minute seemed like 10. Smokey and the Bandit is coming on at 7 and it's been on my mind all day, and it's taking for ever for it to get here. I was tinkering with my new tape recorder, watching the time, then suddenly I had a monumental idea. I can record Smokey and the Bandit!!!!! I put fresh batteries in the recorder, installed a 90 minute tabe and made sure it was rewound to the begining, and had a 2nd tape ready for a back up just in case. When the clock hit 7:00 (finally!) I was ready! I was laying on the floor in front of our console TV, with my new tape recorder strategically positioned in front of one of the speakers, my finger hovering over the record button, and my heart racing in anticipation, waiting for the clock to strike 7. I had already managed to do a couple of quick trial runs with some commercials, and they worked perfectly, but I was still worried that something could go wrong. I had one shot to get this right. There will not be a "do-over" opportunity. This is it. Who knows if it well ever be on TV again, or when. Even at such a young age, I had enough sense to plan all this ahead, in a short amount of time, in the final minutes before show time. Including calculating the movie length vs the tape length, hoping I could fit a 2 hour movie on a 90 minute tape if I cut all the commercials. 7:00 came, I hit record, cut the commercials, and successfully captured Smokey and the Bandit on cassette tape! Long before anyone ever dreamed of having a VCR in their homes. Long before you could ever know if you would ever see your favorite movie again. I had it! It was mine to enjoy whenever I wanted to! All those great songs, all that genius dialogue, all the engines roaring and tire squealing, all the crashes! Man, that was a great day! For many nights I would take that recorder to bed with me and fall asleep to Smokey chasing the Bandit and Snowman across theis great country. My best friend would sleep over a lot and we would listen to that movie while we played with my slot car tracks. I had two TCR slotless tracks with semi's and cars, and I had tthree slot car tracks, one with 1978 Trans Ams (one black, one chrome). Man, those were some good times! Thank you HazzardNet community, for jogging some great memories!

Yep! Looks like you have some homework to do. After that, tell me how many episodes show an action shot of the front wheel of the general from a side mounted camera? Then after that, how many episodes show Bo & Luke blowing something up with high flying dynamite? Then after that, what episode shows the boys drop dynamite from the General while flying over their target? No cheating now. Only one question answered per all 7 seasons! Wink. Wink.
-
That would be a fun challenge!
-
Oh my gosh! That joggs my memory, but I barely remember that. I have not seen or heard of that since it aired. Wow.

Sunny has his own series? I'm not up on modern shows, I don't like most of them so I don't go looking. Yes, uncle Jesse is a great character. Denver was an amazing guardian over the actors. He and James trained them well and taught them some good lessons about life. That's gold right there.
-
Thanks HossC, that's a good start! I will check those out.

Breaker! Breaker! Calling all citizens of Hazzard County! I am looking for information on any, and all CB radios used in the tv series. Bo & Luke had a Cobra 78X in the General, but I don't know what everyone else used. I have always planned to search the episodes to put together a complete history on this, but I have yet to do so. I am going to start with episode 1 to see what I can find. Please add screenshots if you can. Looking for pictures and info on the radios, mics, antennas, and base stations shown throughout the show, and movies. Thanks everyone!

I know this is an old thread, but I know it can be done, I've seen it. The guy I sold my old Charger to restored it and turned into a General Lee. He had magnets made for all the decals. I know he drove it to our local shows without them blowing off, I don't know if he ever drove it on the highway. This was back around 2008-2010.

I bought mine off ebay years ago. Mine has the black base.

I'm here! But I'm about to watch some Dukes myself. Enjoy!!
-
.....Ok, back to your questions RogerDuke. I don't have a favorite season, scene. or episode. I love them all. Who else has that much video footage of their favorite car other than 1969 Dodge Charger fans? Not to mention all the other Mopar cars and trucks. I guess I tend to shy away from the Coy & Vance episodes, just because they're not Bo & Luke. When I was little, I was devastated when Bo & Luke left, I still watched every episode in anticipation of them coming back. It was a very long and painful wait. But then they finally returned, I mean, the angels were singing and heaven was shining down on me again!!! The only cast member I have met is John, which is sad because I don't live very far from Cooters Place in Pigeon Forge TN. Some of the others show up there once in a while. With our schedule, It's just difficult to get there when they are there. As far as toys go, I do still have some of them. And I have some stuff that I got from John. When I was a kid I was loaded with Dukes stuff, I had the bedding set, curtains, waste basket, tv tray, cereal bowl set, dinner set, pj's, wallet, watch, belt buckle, tee shirts, activity books, posters, model cars, and countless toys. I wish I still had all that now. Man, now I need to watch some Dukes!!!!

Yes sir RogeDuke! I will do that. I have not had the chance look around much. I was tempted to comment on a couple of threads but I didn't because they were old. On some of the Mopar forums that I visit, they seem to discourage that, at least that's my take on it. Thanks for the nudge. I see wise ol' uncle Jesse on your avatar, is he your favorite character? I will get to the rest of you questions one of these days. Sorry for the delay.

Yes, that era is over. I live close to a major interstate, and a truck stop so I do find some people, but they are few and far between. There are some good guys out there keeping it alive, but most are rude, disrespectful, and do nothing but trash talk. I do believe the cb will be a rediscovered necessity one day. Cell phones and satellites are vulnerable, expensive, and unreliable. Just look at what happened in the Carolinas & East TN with the widespread destruction from the hurricane. People lost all communication, many lost everything, but many still had their houses and vehicles. If they had CB's they would have had communication. Communication in a disaster is everything. They could have found each other, gotten help from each other, had som pieces of mind in knowing that they were not alone while surrounded with uncertainty. Maybe even had the chance to talk to a loved one, one last time before they perished. They would have had, at least, something. Everyone was helpless until Elan brought in StarLink - communication. This thread could power slide through a turn and go all political right here, but I don't think this is the place for that, so hopefully it won't go there. All I'm trying to say is, CB's have always been an important communication tool used by truckers in our supply chain for many years, they were a big part of the foundation of our economy back in the day. Modern technology has successfully pulled us away from reliable technology. One day, we may find ourselves relying on a cb or ham radio operator when all modern communication has gone down. Have a great day guys. I will answer the rest of those questions when I get a chance.

Actually, the General Lee was always my favorite character, and Bo. As I got older I grew to really appreciate the talent of Sorell, James, and Denver. They really gave the show it's greatness, and the fact that they took the younger actors under their wings and passed their craft onto them is just amazing. I really can't express the genuineness of those men, everyone involved really. Together they created something special, they created genuine family. And they all had virtue, family men and women. You never saw them in the news for things like drug or alcohol abuse, wild living, married and divorced every year like most Hollywood stars today. Tom struggles with some things later in life but that's about it. They were all just sort of old fashioned in a way, from a better era. I go by Breaker1 because I grew up in the C.B. era, I have a bit of a passion for them and the era itself. And it comes from the Dukes, of course. Not to mention all the great car chase movies, trucker movies, and sitcoms of the era My dad always had one in the Polara, and I still use them today. I also lived through a second C.B. craze in the late 80s and early 90s where I'm from. C.B. tag was a big thing for a while. Well, it's getting late and I really need sleep, so I'll have to answer the rest of those questions tomorrow. To be continued......

Thanks for warm welcome RogerDuke. Yes, huge fan. That show was my life when I was little. I loved and breathed Dukes of Hazzard back then. Everywhere I went I had two pockets full of Hot Wheels cars. My regulars were the General Lee, Roscoe's squad car, & Boss Hoggs Caddy, others were changed out daily depending on who was passing through Hazzard county that week. I was raised in my dad's 70 Dodge Polara, the same car (squad) that Cooter flipped in episode one. Nobody wore seatbelts back then, so everytime we would go somewhere I would bring a box of Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars and lign them up on both sides of the rear package tray. I would kneel on the back seat and watch my own demolition derby as Dad was driving through town, turning corners. I have always had gasoline running through my veins, and it was put there by the Dukes, my dad, and his 383 powered Polara.
