  1. Enos nodded "I know baby, but there are a couple other things I could do. I've got to pull through for y'all."
  2. Enos smiled "That makes you sad doesn't it? Don't worry I'll find a job."
  3. Roscoe gave her a slightly confused look, but sighed. "I'm supposed to take you to one of the old shacks. Enos is there and all. . .Oh and Boss knows nothing about this."
  4. Thankfully it was only Roscoe. "What are you doing here?" Daisy asked, the nervousness obvious in her voice. "Daisy, you've gotta leave. Some whoever is after you."
  5. "Well, I can't answer that Lily, but I'm sure as soon as she can. . .She's got a big responsibility now that I can't take care of you guys as well."
  6. Enos sighed "I know it's hard to imagine. Sometimes I still wish Granny was here, but I guess that would be selfish considering the way she was suffering."
  7. Enos chuckled "Don't be Lily. Your Uncle Jesse's in a better place now."
  8. All of a sudden she heard a loud knock at the door.
  9. Daisy sighed and decided to carry Cherry into the den and lay her in the carrier while Daisy got herself some breakfast and some warm tea started.
  10. Enos smiled "You could never imagine Lily. I mean he was like a daddy to your mom and your uncles. He was like a dad to me also since all I had was my granny."
  11. Cherry seemed so innocent and unaware of what was going on around her.
  12. Enos gave her a weak smile "You miss your grandpa too don't you Lily?" he asked.
  13. Enos smiled "Like I said she wanted to publish it, but then your Grandpa died and she wasn't sure if the memory would tear her up or not."
  14. (awww . . .reminds me of a strange story I need to tell you when my email starts behaving) So Daisy settled back down, clutching the infant close to her. Daisy tried to go to sleep but only managed to lay with her eyes open and eventually started humming a tune.
  15. Enos nodded and grabbed his hat and headed out the door.
  16. Enos slapped himself "Oh right. . .Daisy I don't know where my head has been the last few days."
  17. Enos smiled and began reading Lily one of the stories about Daisy and her cousins and Uncle Jesse.
  18. The reality dawned on him "Oh okay. . .I'll drive you home and then. . .maybe I can drive you to the Boar's Nest for your job."
  19. Enos smiled "An adventure type one. Your mama wrote it when we were younger and hoped she'd publish it one day, but I always keep it with me."
  20. Suddenly Enos got an idea and pulled out a thick notebook that he took with him everywhere "Lily, you want me to read you a story?" he asked.
  21. Enos sighed silently to himself. He hated seeing his daughter this upset and wished he could do something about it.
  22. (hey no need to apologize sis I love when you point out things like that about Daisy) Enos could only smile.
  23. "Well I guess I'll see you later" Doc said, but gave Lily a little bit of medicine for her condition before he left.
