  1. "I don't know. I'm seven and my daddy really likes my mommy but my mommy's really scared my daddy doesn't love her and only wants to be with her because of me. That's why she ran in the first place." Heather says. At Elly's confused look Cooter explains what happened. "Lizzy dated Jeb for two years and then she got pregnant. When she realized it she fled to Tennessee to stay with our cousin Earl. That was seven years ago. Lizzy works for the FBI up there but Jeb's trying to convince her to move back here." Cooter says.
  2. "That's your Daddy's cousin Elly May. Elly this is Jeb and Lizzy's seven year old Heather." Cooter says as Lizzy and Jeb leave.
  3. "Auntie Daisy." The seven year old says. "Are you gonna stay tonight?" "Heather you know she can't do that." Cooter says.
  4. Lizzy blushes bright red and kneels in front of Heather. "Be good for Grandpa Cooter." Lizzy says. "Have fun Mommy. Night Daddy." Heather answers. "Home before the rooster crows because grown woman or not Elizabeth Davenport you live under my roof and I can make you regret it." Cooter says. "Night Dad." Lizzy says.
  5. Lizzy swallows as Heather grins. "Mommy's all perdifried." Heather says. "I think she means you look amazing Lizzy." Cooter says. Heather nods frantically. "Thank you." She answers then turns to Jeb. "What do you think?"
  6. The doorbell rings and just as Lizzy stands Cooter yells. "Lizzy Jeb's here." Lizzy swallows and walks out of the room. "Wish me luck." Lizzy says when she reaches her doorway.
  7. "Shoot babe we're all too redneck to live in the city but even us girls like to get a little fancy." Lizzy says as Kayle starts to work on her hair.
  8. "I would be too but it's that new Italian place. It's expected." Lizzy sighs feeling a bit uncomfortable.
  9. Lizzy comes back out with damp hair and a clean face wearing the dress. "Oh hey Elly. I always hated this part of the process." Lizzy says sitting at the vanity.
  10. "Why not?" Jeb asks. "It's about time I put a claim on the woman I've loved for ten years."
  11. "I don't think Aunt Lizzy's ready for that. Maybe you should call and tell him not to. Maybe that he should just ask her to be his girlfriend as weird as it sounds and wait till she's ready. I don't think he wants to be embarrassed that she says no." Kayle says.
  12. "The invitation will always be open, don't argue with me." Lizzy says before leaving the room to go shower. "Mom is Jeb going to propose tonight?" Kayle asks when she hears the water turn on.
  13. "Hey we all need to be a bit selfish at times and I would love to have her over. You're family and that's what family's do for each other." Lizzy says. "And what do you mean a night like this?"
  14. "Are you sure Kayle? I mean I would be glad to babysit and so would your Uncle Jesse. It's too beautiful I don't want to ruin it." Lizzy says.
  15. "Kayle this is gorgeous but I don't think I can borrow it." Lizzy says.
  16. "I know. Show me what you got." Lizzy says. "Oh and Daisy if I find out that he's proposing tonight and you knew but didn't warn me I will hurt you severely. However I doubt that he would seeing as how this is our first official date in seven years." Kayle hands over the dress and Lizzy is stunned.
  17. Lizzy cringes but knows that it's kind of expected for a night like this one.
