All of you have such great stories on how the Dukes came into all of your lives. My story is a lot like General Grant's. I picked up the Dukes of Hazzard, more of a curiosity thing. I remember sitting down to lunch and watching the first one, and was really kind of put-back by the whole show. It just didn't seem very family-friendly, and just not my type of humor. But, something inside of me told me to keep watching it, it could get better. After watching maybe half a season, I was hooked! The Dukes became my instant family, and still are to this day. I've now been a Dukes fan for a couple of years now, and it's really changed my life. I really love Uncle Jesse's philosophy: " A stranger's just a friend you've never met." Plus, the Dukes got me through some hard times. I'm going through a rough spot in my life with some of my family members, and the Dukes are like a separate family, and even though it's just a show, somehow I just connect to that and it just makes things turn out right. But, now that I've found HazzardNet, my family just keeps growing! So, anyone else out there have a story on how the Duke's came into your life? Again, great stories everyone! Laura Duke

Wow! I must say that I always enjoy reading your posts General Grant and RogerDuke! You both have such a way of putting things so great, that I wish that I could do! Yes, we owe the moderators a HUGE thank you. They have put in countless hours of work on this site so that Duke fans could have a place to meet other Duke families around the world. Without these moderators, I would have never met such great people. Thanks, guys! Again, I can't tell you how much I enjoy this site, and all the new family members I didn't know I had. Thanks everyone! Laura Duke Oh, and General Grant, great story on how the Dukes came into your life-I really liked it!

Should newer movie actors be at Dukesfest?
Laura Duke replied to TimDuke's topic in DukesFest & Other Events
Great words of wisdom, General Grant. You have such a great perspective on everything. Also, I can personally say that I really have enjoyed getting to know all of the great Hazzard fans on HazzardNet-ya'll are great! But, if I have offended or upset anyone, I'm sorry about that. Have a great weekend, everyone! Laura Duke -

Oh, cool! I have to get one of those hats! Did you say that they were at WalMart? Or for those of you against Wal-Mart, could you recommend another place that would have it (besides on-line)? Thank you! Laura Duke -
Cool! I always thought that it would be neat to fix-up a vehicle. I just don't have the know-how. Good luck on fixing your car up. I will have to check out the pics. I hope that you are enjoying your stay on HazzardNet. Laura Duke:-P

Should newer movie actors be at Dukesfest?
Laura Duke replied to TimDuke's topic in DukesFest & Other Events
Oh boy....I think that I really upset some people. I'm truly sorry if I did, that really isn't what I want to do. I just feel that as Duke fans, we really need to show our "southern hospitality" more than ever. Yes, the movie was horrible, but they were trying to give us another Duke movie. But, banning the actors from Dukefest? Shouldn't we be banning the writers? Now, if the cast from the movie were total jerks to the original cast, that could be a whole different story. Plus, it seems that if we all stuck together and showed our hospitality, but also voiced what we didn't like, wouldn't somebody see this and want to try to please us? Well, maybe not, but why change? I would love for Duke fans to be full of adventure, fun, and hospitality. Besides, when the original cast members don't want all the work involved in Dukefest, who will continue it? For example, James Best still goes, but he's in no shape to be running the show. Who will then? Shouldn't we show those who really want to put their heart and soul into a new and better-improved Dukes of Hazzard movie that we love the show, and we'll be behind you-just don't make us look bad! I mean really, when you look back on the first couple of shows from the Dukes of Hazzard, the same humor is kind of on the movie. Now, I don't want to make a ton of excuses for the movie they refer to as the Dukes, because frankly, it was really bad. But, I just think it is a little extreme to tell the cast not to come to Dukefest. I know that if I got to be in the movie, and if it didn't go as well to Duke fans as I would have liked, I would hope that they would not ban me from Dukefest. Am I making any sense? Please...don't get upset. This is just one opinion. Laura Duke -
Should newer movie actors be at Dukesfest?

I might get some tail feathers ruffled this time, and I definately don't want to offend anyone, but I have a different take on this question. While I can see why you feel this way, I also think they should be allowed-with permission from the original cast and crew. After all, it is Dukes of Hazzard. No one can replace the original-never! But, if Coy and Vance can go, shouldn't everyone else? Remember, these are actors following a script and a director. As I was reminded, this is the same thing that Coy and Vance were doing. Just a thought. Laura Duke -
Okay, here's my thought on this question: both! I mean, there's certain things I like about Bo, and certain things I enjoy about Luke. Come on, their family. To me, you can't choose between family, that'd be wrong, and it would break the family up. Laura Duke

Well said everyone! You know, this is such a great group of people on here. I, for one, am very lucky I found HazzardNet. There's just such a warmth here. Plus, I really like the fact that even though I totally disagreed with all of you, there was no judging, just understanding. I have a lot of respect for each and everyone of you, and proud to call ya'll cousins (hey, everyone's family on the Dukes of Hazzard). As for Coy and Vance, I'll have to give it another try, who knows? I might just someday enjoy watching them(well.....I don't think I'll like them that much!) It really makes you wonder why everyone isn't a Dukes of Hazzard fan! I agree with General Grant "the world would be a better place" Really makes you stop and think about it, doesn't it? Laura Duke

Thanks, but what's a Cooter hat? I haven't seen those? What's it say? -
Hey, Starskyknight, Welcome to HazzardNet! You've come to the right place, everyone here are just good ol' friends. I really hope that you enjoy it here, there's some real hospitality from everyone. Your vehicles sound very impressive, I'm jealous! I'm with you on getting a vehicle just like the General Lee! Well, keep it 'tween the ditches, ya'll! I'm gone! And again, welcome! Laura Duke

Rocky is about a man who's a boxer on the streets of Philadelphia, who just makes ends-meat by trying to fight anyone he can and doing odd jobs. But all that changes when a man (Apollo Creed), a champion boxer, gives a "rookie" the chance to fight him. Apollo ends up choosing Rocky to fight with for the whole world to watch. I hope that kind of helps, Julieduke. Also, I've seen Rambo with Sylvester Stallone in it. That's all of the Sylvester Stallone shows that I know about-unless there are more. And I've read his book-very interesting! Laura Duke

Okay, okay! RogerDuke, you're good! I'm starting to soften up on Coy and Vance. That is true-they did keep the show alive while Bo and Luke were gone for almost a whole season. Boy, you all make such good points about Coy and Vance that it's hard for me to even to think of anymore reasons why I just can't stand watching them. Laura Duke:)

Thanks, MaryAnne for answering my question. Yes, it makes more sense that they would use same makes/models instead of the same exact car! Khee! Khee! I think I pulled a Rosco!
-
Hey everyone! I'm a HUGE Rocky fan! I would have to say Rocky (the 1st) and Rocky Balboa are the best! How 'bout you? What's you favorite Rocky show?

Funny, General Grant! Actually, I've seen quite a lot of kids wearing Dukes of Hazzard hats! Kids know what's cool! I have to get a Dukes of Hazzard hat-anyone have one? Not that I want your hat! Laura Duke -
I personally think that Coy and Vance in the 5th season ruins the show for me! Even though the script is great, I just can't stand watching it because those two are in it. But, for those of you who love Coy and Vance-you have some great shows to watch! Laura Duke8-)

Welcome to HazzardNet-glad you could join us Duke fans! I hope that you have a great time here! That's cool that you are fixing up a Plymouth Satellite. Yes, be sure to show some pictures! Again, welcome! Enjoy your stay! You'll love it here! Laura Duke

Hey again! I know what ya'll are saying-that we should respect Coy & Vance, but I just don't feel that way. Yes, they were helping Uncle Jesse and Daisy on the farm, but that's it. Even if you watch Catherine Bach around Byron and Christopher, you can just tell that her heart isn't in acting with those two. Besides, I thought that they weren't really that great of actors, I just didn't feel the warmth of John and Tom. So, I probably won't persuade you on this one. But, I just can't stand watching Coy and Vance! So, again, there's my two cents on this one. Does anyone feel the same way as I do? Laura Duke

Hey, ya'll! Do you mean that they drove the exact same car in all three shows, or that they drove the same make and model? I never knew that all three had the same, very interesting! Great eye, Julie Duke! Laura Duke

Well, not only were the actors bad on the first movie, the script was horrible! No one is as good as the original cast! Laura Duke

That's so cool! It's always great to hear that the younger generation has class and knows what's cool! Laura Duke -
Oh, now that ya'll are talking about choking up at the end of the Dukes of Hazzard, it makes me want to cry, too! I always cry at the Dukes of Hazzard, and I get laughed at. So, I'm glad to now that I'm not in this alone. It just goes to show what an impact the Dukes were in all of our lives. Laura Duke

This is how I feel about Coy and Vance-cheap imitations! They should have never been look-alikes like Bo and Luke. They should have came in and been two totally different characters. I personally can't stand watching the season with them on it. It's like they kidnapped my real cousins (Bo and Luke) and expect me to believe Coy and Vance are now part of the family. Does anyone else agree with me? Laura Duke

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info. It sounds really good. I will have to go to Best Buy and pick it up. Really, anything with the original Dukes of Hazzard cast will more than likely be great to watch! Laura Duke
