  1. Oh let's see.... How around on three (3) different occasions asking a fella out on a date and then finding out he is a distant relation? Not kidding. I live in a small town. Kinda makes me shudder to think how many times my family tree might have interconnected.
  2. My personal favorite is Ron White. I have a soft spot for political and social satire comedians. He tops the list with the likes of George Carlin and Louis Black. Plus, the fact he cusses like a sailor and always looks he just stumbled out of a bar, which is probably accurate. Pen "Tater Salad" Dragon.
  3. Back at the hospital, things were relatively calm. Until the nurse came hurrying out of Riddick's room and up to Chance, who had been looking over his charts. "Your patient from Hazzard is asking for you, doctor." Chance raised her eyebrow at that. "Already?" Closing the charts, the young doctor entered the dark hospital room. Riddick blinked his eyes slowly and moved alittle, his mind not quite registering everything yet. He knew where he was an that he had survived the bullet in his back and his other injuries, but how had he gotten here. He looked up as Doc. Walker came into the room, an he figited on the bed alittle and then winced an groaned. "Doc...." "Easy there, Riddick. You have to rest." Chance checked his IV and bandages. The monitors indicated he had stabalized, although still very weak. It would probably take weeks for him to be at full strength again. "The nurse says you were asking for me?" He groaned again alittle blinking his white eyes, they were watery and blurry. "Wheres....Brain?" Riddick asked an looked around alittle wincing as he moved. "How did I...." He paused and breathed a few moments his chest rising and falling. "How did I....get here?" Chance explained as well as she could. "MaryAnne and Rosco brought you in. I...I don't know where Brian is, but I think he's in trouble. His cousins were worried about him." His eyes widened in fear as he stared at her. "The guys...who attacked me...took him?" Riddick looked at her worriedly, if Brian was with Fargo and Anderson, then he was in grave danger. He shut his eyes for a few moments swallowing and fighting back sleep that threatened to take over him. He looked back at Doc. with a serious expression. "How bad....am I Doc?" The young doctor swallowed, now realizing why the Coltranes had been so concerned. She also pondered how much to tell Riddick. But he derserved toknow the truth. "You were dying, Riddick. I used a highly experimental drug to bring you back. You're stable, for now...but you are still too weak to get out of bed." She leaned closer, curious and anxious. "Who attacked Brian? Riddick, do you know where they might have taken him?" The exconvict's brow wrinkled in worry, he knew who had taken Brian and where they had taken him. An worst of all he knew what they would do to him, if they did not get Riddick or his body. His eyes led onto the information that he knew as he stared at the Doc, his friend. "Yes....." His voice came out near a whisper. "I know who took him.....and I know why. They took.....down to the docks." Fatigue was taking over an he began to drift into sleep, battling it he dozed for a few moments then came back to the world. There could be hundreds of 'docks' between here and Atlanta. "Which docks?" Chance voice was gentle, but insistant. "The docks....down by....." He began to doze again leaving his sentence unfinished and his brow wrinkled in pain from his back, a dull ach plagued him. "Riddick..." Chance touched his shoulder. The life here hanging on by a thread may be the key to also saving another. "Which docks, then you may sleep." Again he opened his eyes and looked at her. "The docks....down by....the big creek..." he paused. "On....farmer road....past....the swamp." Slowly he moved one hand and took hers in it an gave it a faint squeeze, as big and dangerous and mean as he could be he was still a man. An he seeked comfort in squeezing the docks hand, his grip faint and loose as he began to doze. "I....hurt...." He shut hsi eyes wrinkling his brow. Chance nodded, but didnt understand his comment about pain. There was enough morphine running through his system by now to knock out a bull elephant. So she could only offer advince. "Sleep, Riddick and thank you." He gave her hand a faint squeeze and sank into the bed some with a small sigh as he dozed back into sleep. It felt so good to sleep, but he didn't want to be left alone, if he had been awake he would have edmited the fear he felt. The young doctor waited for Riddick to fall asleep completely before leaving the room. She stopped at the nurse's station to leave instructions to checks his vitals and IV every four hours. She had a phone call to make...sort of. She didn't want her newfound information made public, so Chance practically ran to the parking garage when her motorcycle sat. She had Cooter install a small CB on it shortly after arriving in Hazzard, seeing it was as nessacary as cell phones anywhere else. Half straddling the bike, she picked up the mike and turned to the channel the sheriff's office and the medical clinic shared. "MaryAnne, Rosco, Come in...This is Doc, I have some information you may find in handy." (cue anyone) (MaryAnne, you noticing a common theme in our posts lately? LOL)
  4. Chance couldn't help but grin. Yeah, this woman was related to the smartmouthed outlaw all right. "Maybe some other time. I have word of your kin, deputy." The lady gambler's gaze went from MaryAnne, then back to the curious looks of the people in jailhouse, then back to her. Chance wasn't sure who she could trust in her infomation and Brian's life. But she wasn't about to make the knowledge she had public for all ears. (cue MaryAnne or anyone)
  5. Chance never broke stride. She had fully kicked into gear, this is what she was trained to do and do well. She barely reacted when the paramedic rushed up to put on an oxygen mask and hooked the Boss on a portable EKG. The sound of rapid, erratic beating that came through wasn't encouraging, but at least his heart had not stopped yet. She barked orders as if the Boar's Nest parking lot was the ER. An injection of lidocaine to stablize the heart, one of morphine for the chest pain. Both of which the paremedic obeyed without question. To her, it could have been. She focused on the man in front of her alone and shut down everything else, the crowd of people, the fact she had just lost her business...that was all unimportant right now. It was a kind of intense focus that made her damned good at her job. But would it be good enough to save Hogg's life? Chance checked his heart with her stethoscope, it was still going wildly but less so. But now they had another problem. And Chance's stomach clenched as soon as the paramedic said the words. "Blood pressure is dropping rapidly....68..66..." Hogg's heart beat wasn't slowing because of the medicine, it was slowing because the heart was starting to give in. Two seconds later she heard the fatal, flat beep of a heart gone completly still. Chance heard her own voice issueing another command. "Alirght, we have no choice, We have to shock him."
  6. (Way to give a Doc a coronary, deputy) Chance saw motioned of the door and not taking any chances with who might be exiting, cocked the rifle and aimed.... ...And had the sun not hit the deputy's badge as MaryAnne stepped out, she would have fired. Instead, Chance raised her barrel skyward, making a wild guess to the woman's name. Although looking at her, it was obvious she and Brian were kin. "Deputy Coltrane, I presume?" (cue Maryanne, or anyone)
  7. The ride into the town was uneventful, compared to what was happeaning in town. Daisy and Chance met noone along the way and soon the barmaid lead Chance right up to the jailhouse door. Hearing commotion and raised voices inside, the lady gambler withdrew her rifle and gestured for Daisy to keep out of harm's way. Something bad was definitly going down inside the small building. Still in the saddle, Chance raised the rifle, aiming at the door. The next person coming through that door would have a nasty surprise waiting for them. (Cue anyone)
  8. I know a few others here watch the Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the cable guy. But what I would like to know is...does anyone else find the sketches looking disturbingly familiar to family events? To me, Jeff's Foxworthy's list of "You might be a redneck if..." is less a comedy skit and more a checklist for my next family reunion. As of such, I got a couple of Pendragon originals to add to the list. *ahem* You might be a redneck if... 1)...A wedding procession in your family consists completely of pickup trucks, including the vehicle carrying the bride and groom. 2)...See above, except for a funeral, with the vehicle carrying the casket. 3)...Your family pet is refered as a sibling...not for a sign of affection but more for the family resemblence. Now back to your regularly scheduled chaos....
  9. *This was a joint post* Seeing that the outlaw was sleep again, Chance rose from where she sat and motioned to Daisy and Min to join her in the far corner of the cabin, speaking quietly so his sleep would not be disturbed again. "If he is really the deputy's kin, I should go to town and let her know he is alive. And I can check on this Alex fellow for myself." Min nodded glancing at Brian a moment. "You and Daisy go ahead, I'll keep an eye on him. When the stew's done I'll make sure he eats and keep his bandages dry." Chance smiled at her friend. "Believe me, I know he's in good hands." The lady gambler slung her rifle over her shoulder and whistled for Gambit. "Don't let anyone in the cabin." Daisy left the cabin and Chance followed her out, but not before throwing one last grin and remark over her should. "TRY not to break any furniture while I'm gone. I can't afford to replace it." "I'll keep that in mind." Min went by the door watching as the two women got ready to leave. "Just both just be careful, all right?" Chance nodded, and in less then five minutes She and Daisy were galloping back to town on Gambit and Lady, not knowing who and what they would find when they arrived in town. On the trail, Daisy couldn't help but ask..."Break furniture?" The lady gambler chuckled..."That's nothing. In Mexico we damn near had to pay for a whole new saloon, but thats another story....." Min had carried a chair from the table over to the bed and had kept watch over the sleeping outlaw. She wasn't sure how much time had passed, maybe minutes or hours she couldn't be sure. A small groan got her attention and leaning forward; she reached out and touched his dark hair. Brian began to stir and a smile came to her face. "You're all right Brian, you're safe. It's just you and me here now but that's okay. I told Chance I'd take care of you." (cue Brian or anyone)
  10. Chance gave Brian a reassuring smile while she finished with his bandage. "Consider this a delayed repayment for helping me in the saloon...and for shattering your whiskey glass." She touched his forehead, and found it cool. No fever had set in during his sleep. "Rest now, you need to regain your strength." (Cue Brian)
  11. ...blue eyes met dark and Chance went very still, her hands still on the bandage around his waist, startled by the gunslinger waking up so early. Then she realized why. With a slight grin, she nodded wordlessly to Min and Daisy, who were still talking in the background and not noticed Brian had awakened yet, and made a motion of someone chattering. (Cue anyone)
  12. LOL. Some things are just plain wrong. http://www.worth1000.com/view.asp?entry=16464&display=photoshop
  13. "Ten-four." At the Coltranes' surprised look, Chance gave a slight grin. "Hazzard's starting to rub off on me. I'll keep you notified if anything changes." She looked from one grim expression to another and took a wild guess to the cause. "Something happeaned to Brian as well, didn't it?" She didn't ask for elboration, she was half scared to. (Cue MaryAnne)
  14. I meant 7th....No, really I did. Serves me right for trying to type before my third morning cup of coffee. BTW, anyone notice the bad guy in that episode later comes back as Snake Harmon?
  15. To answer you're question... 1) The General Lee is a Charger, not a Challedger. 2) The series started with the Dukes already having the General Lee for some time. There is an episode in season 2 that its a flashback to the creation of our favorite orange stockcar. That episode is called.."Happy Birthday, General Lee." I believe the Dukes had the General 8 years at the time of that episode. Doc Walker
  16. (Sorry for the delay) Back in the hospital room, Chance slowly released the breath she had been holding and dropped her hand from the code button. She watched Riddick's vitals drop and then hold steady, hardly believing the wounded man had survived such a radical procedure. She backed away quietly, if as afraid of disturbing the tenuous hold Riddick had suddenly been given to life. The only thing she could do now to let his body recover from the duel trauma of the wound and of the life-saving act that could have just as easily ended his life. Closing the door behind her, Chance faced the deputy and now the sheriff standing in the hall. "He's stablizing. I do believe if he doesn't take any more sudden turns for the worse, he's gonna pull through." (Cue MaryAnne)
  17. LOL, offical driver's license manual of Hazzard county.

  19. I found this amusing picture in a Photoshop contest. http://www.worth1000.com/view.asp?entry=9806&display=photoshop Just isn't the same, is it? Doc
  20. "I'll let you know which as long as I find that...hold still, will ya? You're not making this easy. Dammit, I'm a gambler not a doctor, you know." Chance flinched the same time as Brian did, and by the pale tone in her skin, she decided right then she wasn't cut out for the world of medicine in this lifetime. But she was gentle as she could be until she felt the pliers click against something metal, and a few seconds later, extracted the small bloody piece of lead from the wound. Stepping away for a moment, she got some hot water from the kettle she had placed on the fireplace, and washed the wound as carefully as she would. It was still bleeding, but only a bit, the majority had stopped. She used the water and dried herbals to make a poultice on the bandages, and placed that over the wound, wrapping the bandage around the waist to hold it tight. For a moment, Chance thought her heard a crack of the brush outside, but when she glanced over her shoulder, there was nothing in the view of the window, for as much view was possible there. Except for the horses, which were grazing in a nearby thicket. She shrugged it off, probably some woodland varmint, too curious for its own survival... or in heat. She turned her attention back to the outlaw. "The honey and marigold poweder will keep the wound clean and stop the bleeding. But you lost alot of blood, you need to rest for a bit." (cue anyone)
  21. Chance gathered the needed supplies for the job; brandy, some cloth for bandages, a packet of local herbs she kept on hand, a needle...and a small pair of pliers. By the fact there was only one ugly wound and way the gunman losing carrying himself, the bullet was still inside. She would have to probe for it before closing the wound. Otherwise the possibility of infection was high. All this Chance knew from her rather unusual unbringing, which she had not shared with anyone. She also bolted the heavy door. On the odd chance of unexpected company, they wouldn't be able to surprise them. She sat on the bed next to Brian, she noticing the wary look in the dark eyes. He probably believed she was going to kill him. Ignoring the look, she passed him the bottle of brandy. "Here, you're gonna need this." After he took a long couple of swigs to numb some of the pain, Chance applied a good portion of the burning liquid to the wound, doing her best to clean it. Fortunatly, most of the bleeding had stopped, but the reprieve may be temperary as Chance would probe for the wound. She could seal the wound completely through cauterizing it, but hopefully that would't be nessacary. She then handed the bottle back to Brian, he would need it more than her. "You better brace yourself, this is gonna hurt, whiskey or not." Focusing herself on the wound, she spoke quietly, distracting both him and herself from what she was doing. "By the way, I don't think we ever got around to introducing ourselves, my name is Chance." (Cue Brian)
  22. (forgive a little control , Brian. If its too much, just let me know) Brian and Chance's destination was a small, unused cabin far back in forest, unknown to anyone but Chance. Even Min, who prefered the town living, didn't know of the private retreat her partner had stumbled upon. Chance herself prefered living off what nature could provide, but that didn't always produce enough to live off of. That's where the gambling and pickpocketing fell into play. She pulled Gambit to a stop, and the big black followed suit, sniffing the green around the run-down cabin curiously. The rocky ground had hidden their tracks for a while now, so there wasn't a chance of them being followed. Another reason Chance chose such a location. Chance helped Brian off the horse and into the cabin, despite his numerous protests. At least here they wouldn't be found until the outlaw regained some of his strength.
  23. "Only six or seven, huh? Must be a slow day." Chance rode along aside Brian, her mustang keeping pace easily. "I know of a place a ways from here, somewhere safe that you could hole up in while I fix that bullet hole." She moved her horse a bit ahead of Brian, showing she would lead him there. Damascus, sensing this was help, fell into behind Gambit's lead, following the mustang into the forests of Hazzard county, where safetly and rest could be found.
  24. Well, I'm here. I made it. First day of nursing school. And I don't know why they call it orientation, cause my head is still spinning. I just wanted everyone to know that, because of school, my posts and time on AOL may be fewer and farther between. I always say "Real life prevails" and for the next couple of years, I think its going to prevail in a big way. Don't get me wrong. Doc is still around. Just she and I can't be as active as we were before. I still plan on continueing the RR and stories I'm involved in. You just may have to give me a nudge via email if I'm cued and don't response for a few days. I love Hazzard It's become a second home for a part of me and the friend and memories I made here will always be cherished. But, for now, this M.D. may be a little M.I.A. Sincerely, Pendragon
  25. Sighing, Chance lead Gambit to walk along side. She grabbed the reins again, this time pulling both horses to a stop. "Circumstances being what they are, you don't have a choice. You're bleeding badly, and I can help. Don't be a fool." She quirked a half smile. "Besides if I was worried about whom I was seen with, I wouldn't be a gambler and be friends with a saloon girl." Chance thought for another moment. "...And Min would have my guts for her next garter belt if anything happeaned to her new favorite customer." (Cue Brian)
