"He gets that from you..." Jesse commented back, looking up when a baby wail could be heard from another room. "Sounds like Bo feels left out..."

Jesse closed his eyes too in frustration, running a hand down his face. "So much for him not gettin' attatched..."

Jesse shook his head "Well neither do I! I's already been the bad guy tonight!""

Jesse shook his head as he headed into the lounge with Lavinia, sitting down on the couch next to her where he could also keep an eye on Luke. "He can't sleep there tonight.."

Jesse sighed and shook his head. "No Luke I ain't gonna look yet an' you ain't namin' it yet neither."

Jesse stood up and tipped the rest of the formula away, going to wash up the bottle. "I dont know Luke I ain't looked."

Jesse sighed again low in frustration, shaking his head a little. There was a fighting chance, however slim, that the fawn might survive...but the chance was greater that it wouldn't and Jesse would rather he was prepaired for that event than just letting him carry on as he was and end up being hurt again.

Hey there Laura...that's a lotta questions there...hope I remember em all.. Me an' Luke like t'do a nice spot o'fishin or huntin when we get rare days off from Rosco. My perfect day is just hangin' out with Luke, drivin' the General round the back roads with no complications. We have a vegetable garden which really cuts down on the costs of meals an' the like. We used t'have a real nice flower garden too when Auntie was around, it was her garden. We sitll have the usual chickens and goats and the like runnin' around the farm, Maudine sadly passed on a few years back. She was gettin' on in years but never let us down when we needed her. And yeah, Cooter comes over for dinner a lot of the time and we chat about things. Or we go over and see him, talk about the General and the like.

"Lukas ya ain't hearin' what i'm sayin'...you don't know fer certain an' you can't pin yer hopes on it right now alright...you understand?" Jesse asked, trying to distance Luke a little so that if the fawn did pass on over night, Luke wouldn't be so upset the next morning.

Jesse nodded with a small smile, the test really was how much the little thing would drink and if it would be enough to sustain it through the night. "Luke...I dont want ya gettin' yer hopes up son...its very weak...you gotta understand that although we may do everything we can...it still might not make it.."

Jesse smiled a little as he listened to Luke, sighing softly before suggesting softly. "If I hold the bottle why don't you hold his head up so he don't choke on the milk..he dont have the strength t'hold it up himself..."

Jesse nodded and stood up, getting the bottle from the side and sitting on the floor with Luke "Let's see if he'll feed some..."

Jesse nodded softly, thanking the vet silently as he hugged Luke back. Waiting until the vet left, he pulled Luke away from him and knelt down, looking into his eyes and saying seriously. "Luke...you heard what the vet said...if you want this little thing t'survive son you gotta look after it...you gotta make sure its warm, you gotta make sure its kept fed..."

*grins and tosses General Grant the rope* Tie away, i'll hold her down *pounces on Lori and holds her down*

Jesse bit his lip, looking to the fawn in Luke's arms and into its soft brown eyes. Shaking his head a little, he looked to the vet. "That wont be neccesary...we'll try our luck with prayers and love..."

Jesse sighed and ran a hand down his face, looking up at Lavinia again. He didn't know what to do, he hadn't as yet been able to deal with the kids when they were emotional...that was Lavinia's job...he watched and learned.

Jesse sighed softly and shook his head. "Luke there are some things in this world I can't fix..."

Jesse swallowed softly, stroking a hand soothingly through Luke's hair, looking to Lavinia for some help.

Jesse sighed, looking over the little thing before kneeling down next to Luke. "Luke son...I know...your very attatched t'this little critter...but son...its in a fair amount of pain...the vet things it'll be better...if we help it pass on..."

Jesse swallowed softly, sighing a little. "What's the matter with it..."

Jesse went and stood back behind Luke with Lavinia and watched the vet work and Luke pet the little fawn to keep it calm. Whether or not it was because of Luke or because it was just too weak, the little animal didn't make a sound.

"I know..I know...but LUKE don't know..." Says quietly but with enough emphasis on Luke as he gestured to the little boy, still totally absorbed with the animal, to show how attatched he had already gotten. "I don't think its gonna last much longer...we just need to show Luke we're helping it as best we can..."

Jesse sighed and stepped over to it, patting Luke on the head softly as he went over, opening the door to greet the vet. "Hey there...we got a fawn in need of some attention..."

Fine then, *yanks the rope from her hand* I'll just take it instead.
