Daisy pondered this as they pulled into the hospital parking lot, finishing off the sandwich and grabbing the bag of Bo and Luke's things as she slid out the window, making a mental note to ask the doctor's about it later. "Well, lets go relieve my dear cousin of that hospital gown shall we? I need to find a doctor first though, see if I can give Bo one of these drinks. Thought it might cheer him up a little."
-
She nodded, understanding...but that was also one thing she couldn't understand. How had Bo gotten so ill when all he had done was worry and not eat or sleep a lot. Exhaustion yes, malnutrition yes, stress yes but a chest infection that damn well nearly killed him? How could that have happened in the space of a week. She voiced her concerns to B.L as she ate. Bo nodded and hugged Luke a little tighter before breaking away and smiling slightly. "Thanks...Luke....when's the doctors...comin' back..."
-
She smiled at B.L's protectiveness. Whenever Luke was away, it was usually B.L that took his place for her and Bo, although nothing could ever really replace the bond that they all had with Luke, B.L's kind, guiding hand was often useful when Luke wasn't able to give it himself. She was, as Cooter was, almost like a Duke herself. "I'll try." Bo nodded, determined not to cry, he had been doing so much of that latley. He swore it was done to something they put in the water of the air or something. Or maybe it was just that Luke was the only one who really understood him, really knew how he was feeling and knew all the right words to say. He wrapped his arms round Luke's neck and nuzzled gently into his shoulder. He didn't know what to do now. "Tell me....what you....think I should do....Luke....please...."
-
Daisy sighed and rolled her eyes as he took a bite out the sandwich "There, happy?" By the end of Luke's speech, Bo's head was hung and his breathing was somewere in the middle of being normal and being painfully thin and raspy. "I'm...gees I'm sorry Luke....I didn't have no right....ta snap....at ya....I just....I want ta prove....that I can....to myself more....more than anythin...."
-
Daisy nodded, releived that Cooter was going to do that. "Thanks Cooter." She watched him as he walked out the door, wondering what on earth she would have done without him or B.L. She looked over as B.L announced she was ready, and after grabbing a couple of Bo's favourite drinks as a treat in case the doctor said he could have them, she picked up the bag full of clothes and magazines and smiled at B.L. "Let's go." She headed out the door and over to red fury, sliding into the passengers seat. All along Bo had been penting his frustration up, his frustration at his own weakness, stupidity and his guilt for scaring his family like he had done. At Luke's words he stiffened slightly, the muscles in his shoulder's tensing. By the time Luke finished, Bo was trembling, trying to control the sudden outburst....unsuccesfully. "Well what about me Luke?!....What about....what I feel huh? Or don't....don't that matter no more?....You know what it's like....to sit here....and have everythin' bein' done for ya....even the most...simple o'things....Like breathin'....keepin' yer heart beatin'? I gotta do somethin' on ma own...somethin' ta prove I ain't....just...worthless....weak....stupid...."

Daisy smiled as Alan came over and gently squeezed her shoulder. "We're going to be there, right where Bo's telling us. We can't see any danger in him being in the General Lee with Luke, but we'll have a medical crew standing by just in case." Daisy nodded at Alan gratefull and stood to give the old familt friend a hug. "Thanks so much Alan." "Not problem, tell your Uncle Jesse we'll see him tonight and that the whole squad hopes Bo gets better real quick. We's got to get back and start planning." "Will do, can you meet us back here at 7.00 tonight so we can start moving into positions." "Will do. Goodbye now. Right everyone move out." Daisy watched gratefully as the men left and waited until the last state trooper had gone before getting to her feet. "Right, lets get these clothes to Bo and Luke and see what the doc's verdict is. You gonna come Cooter, or you gonna check over the cars?" Bo instantly shook his head determindly at Luke's proposition. "Uh uh, no way....I ain't goin' back under there if I was....near half....dead....I ain't lettin' this...dang infection....get the better of me now. Now will ya move so I's can get back on my feet 'gain?"
-
Daisy smiled and nodded. "You's gonna have ta wait in line fer that Cooter. I know Luke wants ta knock the seven bells outta them, then there's Uncle Jesse, and me and B.L and you and probably most of the girls in Hazzard County once they find out." She laughed gently. "Sorry Cooter I don't think there's gonna be a lot left by the time they gets ta ya." Bo smiled and swallowed as the ice finally melted. "Yeah but that's only cause....dang it....looks like I's back to...doin' this 'gain....only cause....it were fer yer own good....ya look miles better....now ya got....some sleep...."
-
Daisy listened in too, smiling at Cooter. "So what d'ya think Cooter?" Bo smiled at Luke's protetivness, clearly giving him a puppy dog 'sorry' look as he let the ice gradually melt in his mouth
-
Daisy nodded and whispered back as the troopers all started to talk amoung themselves. "I will just as soon as we get movin' back to the hospital. " Bo took the cup gratefully from Uncle Jesse, giving him a smile of thanks before taking a couple out and slipping them into his mouth, sighing with relief as the cold numbed the gentle pain that still throbbed down his throat and wet his dry mouth. At Luke's statement he frowned and then revised what he had just said, realising that what Luke had said was actually very true. He looked up at Luke with a smile. He never really paused to catch his breath, he would pause because the pain in his throat hurt too much to strong out long sentences without a break. But still he never told them that, they'd only tell him to stop talking, something he didn't want to do. With a mouthful of ice chips he said. "Yeah....guess so...."
-
Daisy smiled, pleased at the others reactions to the plans. They all knew that this had hurt Bo deeply, and she could swear she could see a couple of tears in the troopers eyes as they heard how much these men had hurt Bo, even though they didn't know him, which cause a few to come to her eyes too. At B.L#s comment, Daisy gently shook her head. "Not now B.L, I ain't hungry just yet....maybe later." Bo nodded and gently sat up again. "Can I have some more ice chips? I wanna get some 'afore I try walkin' 'gain."
-
Daisy soon re entered the now crowded kitchen, sitting at the head of the table and spreading the couple of small bits of paper over it. "Alright everyone. This is what my cousin Bo knows..." She pointed to the written explanation of why he had been so jumpy and secluded. "And this is what he thinks is gonna need ta happen tonight." She explained, as everyone tucked into lunch, what Bo had explained to them all, using his diagram. When she had done, she looked round at everyone, awaiting their reactions. Gradually, Bo got back to breathing normally, his fingers loosening from the hold they had on Luke's shirt as he laid back into Luke's hold again. "Ya know....i ain't....never gonna....take breathin'.....fer granted...'gain."
-
Daisy walked down the hallway quickly seeing the state police pulling up outside. "B.L can you show them in while I try and remember where I put the plans Bo drew up....Hey Cooter!" Bo laughed but instantly regretted it as it turned into a couple of chesty sounding coughs. He grasped Luke's shirt slightly as his chest shot through with pain, but made no move to show it any further than that. Calmly and collectedly, even though he was scared out of his wits by the feeling of breathlessness and pain, he forced himself to hear Luke's breathing again and willed his chest to co operate.
-
He grins again, he had hoped that Luke would say something like that. "Yeah but...I have....valid reason.....your's is.....just cause....you's old...." Daisy came out the bathroom, towelling her hair dry, dressed in jeans and a baby pink t-shirt. "Hey Cooter, dig in there's plenty. I'll be with y'all in a second." She walked into her room, smiling at a photo she had of the boys sitting on the hood of the General Lee as she towelled her hair dry and applied a small bit of make up
-
Bo grinned back, a grin that no one had seen in a long time. It appeared carefree and happy, comforted, supported. It was just the look in his eyes that gave away how he truly felt, the even thinner pyhsique and the raspy breathing that gave away he was ill. "From the...way you's lookin....if I poked ya....ya'd probably fall over...."
-
Bo manages a small chuckle as his breathing comes back under control, still not sounding completly normal. He pulled slightly away from Luke, bringing his head up so he could face him with a sly grin on his face before whispering out a small sentence. "You's already....look that old....Doc'd probably blame yer...death on...old age...."
-
At first, Bo just looked at Luke and Uncle Jesse fearfully, still not truly seeing who they were. But as Luke turned his gaze to focus on him, he blinked a couple of times before finally realsing where he was and what was going on. He fell against Luke, his head resting on his older cousin's chest as he started to listen to his breathing again, and listening to the gentle heartbeat that was now, he noted, racing with fear. He'd never really known Luke to be as petrified as his heartbeat told him he was before, and it surprised him a little He relaxed further as Luke rubbed slow gentle circles into his back and he could finally hear Luke and Jesse properly without the blood pounding and racing through his ears. It was then he realised the cold damp cloth being patted gently against his face and saw the IV needle gone from the back of his hand. He still couldn't quite make out what Luke and Jesse were saying, still drowzy and not fully awake enough, but he knew enough by the looks on their faces that whatever had happened while he had been asleep, so he gently smiled.
-
Bo's eyes snapped open and he jerked into a sitting position, barley able to breathe again and looking frantically around the room, not really registaring where he was or who was with him. All he had heard was someone shouting his name in the midst of the frequent nightmare he had suffered from since this all had begun. Breathlessly he tried to speak but found his voice un coopertive at that moment.
-
Daisy smiled at B.L as she returned from the shower from the kitchen, she had been making some lunch for the both of them, Cooter and troopers that were coming over. She placed all the plates on the table before running to her room, grabbing some fresh clothes and stepping into the bathroom. A short time after the doctor leaving the room, Bo started to whimper and struggle around in Luke's gentle hold. Sweat started to break out across his forehead and his breathing harshly quickened.
-
She nods and points to her bedroom. "Just take a look through there and see what you can find. Don't worry about Bo, it was a nice thought and it probably would make him feel better. We could always take it and ask the doc."
-
She looked up from gently packing a small bag for her cousins smiling gratefully at B.L. "Thanks B.L....I guess we can try and bring somethin' in fer Bo, but I think we's have to be careful about what we bring in, ya know, infections and the like. His immune systems down at the moment, I read his charts, so we's gonna have ta tell the docs before we give him anythin ta eat and the like. I'm sure he would appriciate it though." Finishes packing and puts the bag by the front door. "You want the shower first?"
-
She quickly CB'd Cooter, telling him to meet them at the farm so they could explain what was going on, before following B.L and walking straight to Bo and Luke's room, grabbing them some new clothes and a couple of magazine's. Not that she expected they would read them but it couldn't hurt none to at least try and bring them something to keep them entertained. "Hey B.L, could you ring state police and have them come over so we's can brief them too? Explain the situation to 'em, ask for Alan Dresdon, he's a friend of Uncle Jesse's."
-
She smiled and took the CB, but paused before she said anything into it. "Actually Uncle Jesse wants us away for a few hours. He said to get rested up and have a shower and things before we come back so we's can help Bo more by showin' him we's okay." This was a major bending of what Uncle Jesse really said, but she didn't want to go back to the hospital so soon. Truth be told, she didnt like it there, and the more she visited it the more likely she was to remember Bo like this. It was going to be hard enough to forget him hooked up to a vantilator, choking for breath with tubes and wires snaking out from all over the place .
-
"Yeah I suppose I could, or have Rosco lock him up in the cells for two weeks, that'd rest him." She laughs as they speed down HAzzard's roads, feeling a lot better, but still worried for both her cousins.
-
Daisy laughs. "I don't think we'll be his favourite gals fer too long, expecially not since i'm gonna be makin' sure Bo stays in bed for at least two weeks after this. Bo wont sleep though, he'll be thinkin' up ways to escape the room more than anythin' else."
-
Daisy smiled and wrapped an arm round her friend's waist as they headed out towards the car park, nodding in agreement about Uncle Jesse. "Mind ya, I don't blame Bo for not likin' them hospital gowns...they has to be so downright embarrasin'. He ain't never felt comfortable in anythin' but his jeans and yellow shirt. If you put him in a suit you can guarentee it'll be off within 2 minutes."
