At the place where only the lonely can play.
Can't believe this song is 30 years old. I remember the video and the song on the radio back in the day.
-
And both the lonely boy and girl will have this.

A great 80s punk/alternative band that I loved in HS. Still can't believe this song is 26 years old. I remember hearing it on the radio back in the day and was blown away. I still have the cassette of the album - Candy Apple Grey.

Cheerwine
It's a cherry flavored soda available only in the Carolinas and a select few other areas in the South.

Here is a song that still gets radio airplay for being over 30 years old. Billy Squier was HUGE in the early 80s.

"Like A Hurricane" - Neil Young
Some old school Neil Young for y'all...

I read this on your Facebook page. I am in utter disbelief that WB would consider this. I guess ths political pressure got to them even though I am fairly certain they will end up losing a lot merchandising money and respect. We can go on and on about how it is wrong and all but it is their(WB) decision and they will have to live with the consequences.
Almost on the same topic, MGM is releasing the remake of the movie "Red Dawn" at Thanksgiving. The studio had them change the bad guys and digitally alter flags, uniforms and symbols from Chinese to North Koreans in order to ease anti-Chinese sentiment from the U.S. and for the Chinese dollars so the film can be shown there to more people.
Red Dawn review of original cut
This is the type of culture we are manifesting to generations now. We do not want to offend anyone anymore.

Hoss - sorry that definitely wasn't meant to sound that way. I just happened to start off the my sentence that way and didn't think that it could be taken in another context. My apologies.
A little off topic but there was one British show I really enjoyed, MI5 or as it was called in the UK "Spooks". It was shown here on either A&E or Bravo about 5 or 6 years ago and rather sporadically too.

Well it did air last night - Eastern Standard Time @ 1000PM.
Not sure if you get A&E over the pond and if you do it might have different programming. not sure how that works.

I watch the A&E show Longmnire and last night 7/22/12 Tom Wopat was guest star. He played a sheriff from a neighboring county. He was only in a couple of scenes.
I am surprised this wasn't mentioned here earlier to give everyone a heads up that he was going to be on TV. Maybe I missed it though.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mufn on this. Facebook, at least to me, is a seperate entity. Don't get me wrong as I use Facebook and have commented on H-Net's Facebook's posts in the past but this forum is special to me and the people on here are like family to me. Facebook just seems so random amd convoluted as far as topics and posts.
I am hoping you keep them separate as they are like two different things to me. I just wish some of the people who actively post on Facebook would migrate over to see what an AWESOME website Hazzardnet is. Then again maybe it is better with just the great people we already have here.

This guy is in the Sprinsteen, Dylan, Neil Young league. A rodeo bullrider who was a drifter making music. Here are a couple of older articles that essentially are mini bios of him.
Oh yeah he also won the Oscar for Best Song from a movie in 2010 ffor "The Weary kind" from the movie Crazy Heart. He did it without a major label record contract.

I just commented on H-net's facebook about it. After reading the article, I think a redo of Moonrunners might come out of it or maybe something similar if it ever gets that far. Still vague until the movie is actually written.
I know all the bashing and trashing the 2005 movie is gonna begin so I am excusing myself from all that.

And lastly, I'm amazed that as we sit here in 2012 with digital cable, satellite tv and all, that we can still talk of having rabbit ears for the tv... LOL
I know it does look a bit funny with my HDTV and home theater set up that I have rabbit ears in there. Dang DirecTV doesn't offer my local channels in HD but I pull them in HD from the rabbit ears. I also pull a lot of the digital subchannels too.
If DirecTV had the locals in HD I would never had gotten the rabbit ears and then never would have gotten MeTV...

Mufn, isn't MEtv an awesome channel. I hope that they dont start updating the programming to the 80s.
I got my 9 year old son into Svengoolie. We both love watching him as there are no horrr hosts on TV any more. We camp out every Saturday night with sleeping bags in front of the TV watching all the old Universal horror movies.
Brian, get an antenna. Got rabbit ears from Walmart a few years ago when we first got DirecTV. We had to get a seperate componet from DirecTV to intergrate the channels into the onscreen menu but it was worth it. New boxes now I don't think you need it. I might try a different hdtv antenna soon but I am happy just to get my locals in HD from the the antenna. Supposedly my market will get the locals in HD on DirecTV in 2012, they have been saying that since 2008.

This has got me excited. I am glad that someone is resurrecting the The Nashville Network. I loved TNN back in the day when it was owned by Gaylord ( parent company of the Grand Ol Opry) I know the viewership will take a while to establish since most people have cable or satellite. Digital subchannels are not very well known or marketed that much, sort of like HD radio.
There are a lot of subchannels but most are not available in all areas. I have DirecTV and added an antenna since my local channels aren't avaialble in HD. I ended up picking up numerous subchannels from the antenna that I wouldn't get with just DirecTV. I get our local accuweather channel, numerous extra ION and PBS channels and my favorite MEtv. MEtv is my favorite with all the old classic TV shows especially Kojak and Rockford Files plus a Saturday night horror movie hosted by an awesome host called Svengoolie. I always wanted RetroTV but none of area chnnels are affliated with it. But I am glad I get MEtv since they have better programming with the old TV shows now than RetroTV (although they have Movin' On and Starskey and Hutch).

Alright my METS won again beating the dreaded Phillies after a 2 game set back against the Nationals.
Still way too early in the season but they are off to a promising start at 5-2. I only wish I was still on Long Island to go to some games. Tigers games are fun to go to, really nice ballpark, but like I said I am not much of an American League fan.

I read mostly auto-biographical or non-fiction books. I read about stuff that I have an interest in or want to find out more about.
These are the last few books I read.
1. Fried Twinkies, Buckle Bunnies, and Bull Riders: A Year inside the Professional Bull Riders Tour - Josh Peters
2. Zamboni Rodeo - Jason Cohen. About a year in the life of a Texas minor league hockey team.
3. Friday Night Lights - HG Bissinger
4. Richie; The Richie Evans Story - Bones Bourcier. About the BEST modified driver in history.
I also love getting coffee table books on ibteresting subjects too.

Here is a version I LOVED back in the day after I discovered Black Flag. I was lucky enough to see them before they were no more.
