"He just means that he's thinking about settling down and building a family with you and your momma." Cooter says.

"But surely he can race and do that too." Heather says. "Right Daddy?"

All just to make Mama realize that life is full of danger but you'll do anything to make her marry you including giving up what you love. It's not fair to you or to her but you're gonna do it anyway. If she really loved you she wouldn't make you give it up. I know because I've seen your races. Uncle Earl loved to watch them. You're really good and you have plenty of years left.
